Numbered menu items, such as menus, sub-menus, and options, can be quickly accessed by using their shortcut numbers. In the Start window, Main Menus can be accessed by pressing the number keys (1 to 0) corresponding to their location on the screen.

For example, to access the Shop Multimedia menu:

1. Press the [Start] soft key.

2. Press the [8] for AT&T Mall.

3. Press the [1] for Shop Tones.

4. Press the [1] for Shop Games.

5. Press the scroll key to display the list of available games.

The package for your PANTECH C180 DUO should include the following items:

The main keys on your PANTECH C180 DUO have the following functions:

• Left Soft Key: Performs functions in the lower left of the display.

• Home Key: Returns you to the home screen.

• SEND Key: Makes or answers a call.

• Quick List/Lock: Accesses the Quick List or locks the keypad.

• Navigation Keys: Press to enter the menu system and scroll through menus and lists.

• Right Soft Key: Performs functions in the lower right of the display.

• Cancel key: Clears a digit or returns to the previous screen.

• END/Power Key: Turns the phone on/off, ends calls, and exits menus.

To install the battery on your PANTECH C180 DUO:

1. Place the battery on the back of the handset and slide it into place.

2. Push the battery down until it locks into place.

To remove the battery:

1. Pull the release latch upwards to lift up the battery.

2. Remove the battery from the handset.

To charge your PANTECH C180 DUO:

1. Plug the AC Charger into a standard outlet.

2. Plug the other end of the AC Charger into the bottom of your phone. The battery must be installed in the phone.

The LED is located at the left side of the earpiece and indicates the following statuses:

DOs:

• Only use the battery and charger approved by the manufacturer.

• Only use the battery for its original purpose.

• Try to keep the battery in a temperature range of 41°F (5°C) to 95°F (35°C).

• If the battery is stored in temperatures above or below the recommended range, give it time to warm up or cool down before using it.

• Completely drain the battery before recharging. It may take one to four days to completely drain.

• Store the discharged battery in a cool, dark, and dry place.

• Purchase a new battery when its operating time gradually decreases after fully charging.

• Dispose of and recycle used batteries in accordance with local regulations.

DON’Ts:

• Don’t use a damaged battery or charger.

• Don’t attempt to disassemble the battery – it is a sealed unit with no serviceable parts.

• Don’t accidentally short circuit the battery by carrying it in your pocket or purse with other metallic objects such as coins, clips and pens.

• Don’t dispose of batteries by burning; they may explode.

To Turn On:

Press and hold the END key until your “Power On” logo appears. If “Password” appears on the display, enter your 4-digit password to unlock your phone.

To Turn Off:

Press and hold the END key until the “Power Off” logo appears.

The Quick List provides a list of commands that you can use to quickly perform common actions. To use it:

1. Press the Quick List key.

2. Use the Navigation Key to select the command you want.

There are several ways to make a call on your PANTECH C180 DUO:

By Entering a Contact Name:

1. On the Home screen, begin entering the contact name. The screen will auto-fill.

2. When you see the contact name you want to call, select it and press the left soft key [Call].

By Entering a Phone Number:

1. On the Home screen, begin entering the phone number.

2. If you see the number or contact name, select it and press the left soft key [Call]. Otherwise, finish entering the number and press OK or the Send key.

From an Open Contact:

1. On the Home screen, press the right soft key [Contacts].

2. Select the contact to call and press OK.

3. Select the phone number to call and press OK or the left soft key [Call] or the Send key.

From the Call History List:

1. On the Home screen, press [Start] and select Call History using the Navigation Key.

2. Select the name or phone number to call.

3. Press the Send key.

Using a Recently Dialed Number:

1. On the Home screen, press SEND to display a list of recent calls.

2. Select a name or phone number to make a call.

3. Press the Send key.

Answer or Ignore a Call:

• To answer the call, press SEND or press Answer.

• To reject the call, press END or press Ignore.

Answer a Second Call (Call Waiting):

• To put the first call on hold and answer the second call, press the SEND key or press [Answer].

• To switch between calls, press [Swap].

• To end the second call and go back to the first, press the End key.

Answer a Call by Pressing Any Key:

1. On the Home screen, press [Start] > [Settings] > [Phone] > [Call Options].

2. Use the Navigation key to select “Any Key answer,” press [OK] to check the item, and press the Left Soft Key [Done] to finish.

To Insert a Manual Pause (w):

This pause requires you to press OK to resume dialing.

1. On the Home screen, press the right function key [Contacts].

2. Select the contact in whose phone number you want to insert a pause.

3. Select the phone number and press [Menu] > [Edit].

4. Place the cursor where you want to insert the pause.

5. Press [Menu] > [Insert Wait]. The letter ‘w’ will appear.

6. Press [Done].

To Insert a Three-Second Pause (p):

1. Follow steps 1-4 from the manual pause instructions.

2. Press [Menu] > [Insert Pause]. The letter ‘p’ will appear.

3. Press [Done].

Your service provider has assigned your voicemail number to the 1 key. You should set up your voicemail and personal greeting as soon as you activate your PANTECH C180 DUO.

To check your voicemail:

1. Press and hold the 1 key to call your voicemailbox.

2. Follow the instructions to retrieve your messages.

To Lock the Keypad:

1. Display the Quick List by pressing the Quick List key.

2. Select [Lock] and press OK. Alternatively, press and hold the Quick List key until it enters lock mode directly.

To Unlock the Keypad:

On the Home screen, press Unlock and then press the * key.

To Use Auto-Lock:

1. Select [Start] > [Settings] > [Phone] > [Auto Lock] on the Home screen.

2. Change the status of Auto-Lock to ‘On’.

3. Select [Done].

Once activated, the keypad will lock when the slide is lowered. To unlock, press the key for one second or open the slide.

1. On the Home screen, press [Start], select Settings with the Navigation Key.

2. Select Clock, press OK, then select Date and Time.

3. In Time Zone, select your time zone using the left and right Navigation Keys.

4. In Date, edit the month, day, or year.

5. In Time, edit the hour, minute, and second.

6. Press [Done].

1. On the Home screen, press [Start] and select Settings.

2. Select Home Screen.

3. Under the Home Screen Layout, select a Color scheme and Background image.

4. Press [Done].

1. On the Home screen, press [Start], then select Applications and then select File Explorer or select My Stuff.

2. To find the folder you want, do the following:

• Select one of the folders listed in the main window.

• Press [Menu], and navigate through the folders listed there.

• Select the item you want to open.

Emergency calls do not depend on the availability of the 911 (or 112) network in your area. The emergency number will work independently of the network area you are in, with or without a SIM card inserted.

Dial 911 (or 112) and press OK.

You can make calls to emergency service numbers under any circumstances, even if you have locked the phone.

Your PANTECH C180 DUO supports four input modes: Multipress, XT9, Numeric, and Symbols. The phone automatically selects the appropriate input mode based on the text field.

• Change Case: Press the * key to change between uppercase, lowercase, and caps lock.

• Enter a Space: In Multipress or XT9 mode, press the # key.

• Enter a Symbol: Press and hold the * key, then select Symbols to display the symbols page. Select your symbol and press OK.

• Enter Numbers in Text: Press and hold the * key to change to Numeric mode. Enter the numbers, then briefly press the * key to switch back to text mode.

• Enter Punctuation: In Multipress mode, press the 1 key until you see the mark. In XT9 mode, press the 1 key and select from the list.

• Start a New Line: In a multi-line text box, press the OK key.

• Turn on Caps Lock: In Multipress or XT9 mode, press the * key until the status indicator shows all capitals.

• Change Input Mode: Press and hold the * key. A popup menu will appear; select the input mode you want and press OK.

When you open the slide on your PANTECH C180 DUO, you can use the full QWERTY keyboard. Here are the key functions:

1. From the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start].

2. Select Calendar and press OK.

3. Press [Menu] and select New Appointment.

4. Enter information about the appointment.

5. To schedule an all-day event, under End time, select All day event.

6. Press [Done].

1. From the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start].

2. Select Calendar and press OK.

3. In Agenda view, select the appointment to delete.

4. Press [Menu], then Delete Appointment.

5. Press One to delete only the current appointment, or select to delete the series if it is a recurring appointment.

1. On the Home screen, press [Start].

2. Select Contacts using the Navigation key and press OK.

3. Press the left soft key [New].

4. Enter information for the new contact.

5. Press [Done].

1. On the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start].

2. Select Contacts.

3. Select the contact to beam.

4. Press the right soft key [Menu].

5. Select Send Contact then select Beam and press OK.

6. On the list that appears, scroll to the name of the device you want to beam the contact to.

7. To beam using Bluetooth, ensure that both Bluetooth radios are turned on and that the receiving device is discoverable.

8. Press Beam.

Status information will display indicating the progress of the beaming process.

1. On the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start].

2. Select Contacts and press OK.

3. Select the contact for whom to create a speed dial and press OK.

4. Select the phone number, e-mail address, or Web page address for which to create a speed dial.

5. Press [Menu] and select Add to Speed Dial, then press OK.

6. In Keypad assignment, select the speed dial number to use.

7. Press [Done].

Note: The number 1 is reserved for calling your voicemailbox.

1. On the Home screen, press and hold the number on the keypad that you have assigned as a speed dial.

2. If the speed dial is two digits, press the first digit, then press and hold the second digit.

3. The PANTECH C180 DUO will dial the phone number, open a new e-mail message, or go to the Web page.

To View Call History:

1. From the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start].

2. Select Call History and OK.

To View Call Timers:

1. From the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start].

2. Select Call History and press OK.

3. Press [Menu] and select View Timers from the popup menu.

1. On the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start], select Messaging, and press OK.

2. Select Message and press OK.

3. Press the right soft key [Menu] > [New] > [Text Message].

4. In the “To” field, enter the recipient’s phone number. Insert a semicolon (;) between multiple recipients.

5. Press the Down navigation key and compose your message.

6. Press [Send].

1. On the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start], select Messaging, and press OK.

2. Select Message, press OK, then press [Menu] > [New] > [Multimedia Message].

3. Enter an e-mail address or phone number.

4. Input a subject for the message.

5. Input text in the text box.

6. To add an image, press [Menu] > [Add Item], press OK, then select Image.

7. Select an image from the Picture file browser.

8. Press the left soft key [Send] to send the message.

1. From the main Messaging screen, select New E-mail Account.

2. Enter your E-mail address. You can select ‘Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet’ and press Next.

3. If settings are not found, press Next and follow the manual setup:

4. Select your e-mail provider (Internet e-mail or Exchange server).

5. Enter your display name and press Next.

6. Enter your Incoming mail server and select the Account type, then press Next.

7. Enter your user name and password, then press Next.

8. Enter the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server name and press Next.

9. Select how often your phone checks for e-mails.

10. Press Finish.

1. On the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start], then [More…] and select Organizer and press OK.

2. Select Alarm and press OK.

To set a new alarm:

• Press the left soft key [New].

• Set the Time, Repeat, Wake up (on/off), Snooze interval, Tone, and Memo.

• Press the left soft key [Done].

To delete an alarm:

• In the Alarm viewer, press the right soft key [Menu] and press Delete from the pop-up menu.

To Create a Voice Note:

1. On the Home screen, press [Start] > [More…] > Organizer, then select Voice Note and press OK.

2. Briefly press the left soft key [Record] and speak into the microphone.

3. Press [Stop] to stop recording.

To Listen to a Voice Note:

1. Go to the Voice Note application.

2. Select the voice note to play, press [Menu], and then press [Play].

To Delete a Voice Note:

1. Go to the Voice Note application.

2. Select the voice note to delete.

3. Press [Menu], select Delete, and press OK.

1. On the Home screen, press [Start] > [More…] > Organizer, and select Calculator.

2. Enter a number using the keypad.

3. Use the Navigation Key for operations (+, -, /, x) or press the # key to cycle through operators.

4. Press the right soft key Menu and choose Equals to perform the operation, then click OK.

Create a Task:

1. Go to [Start] > [More…] > Organizer > Tasks.

2. In the ‘Enter new task here’ box, enter the task name and press OK.

Mark a Task as Complete:

1. In the Tasks list, select the task.

2. Press the left soft key [Complete].

Delete a Task:

1. In the Tasks list, select the task.

2. Press the right soft key [Menu].

3. Select Delete Task and press OK.

1. On the Home screen, press [Start] > AT&T Music and press OK.

2. Select Windows Media Player and press OK.

3. On the library screen, select the category you want and scroll to the file you want to play. If needed, press [Menu] and select Update Library first.

4. Select a category.

5. Scroll to the file you want to play and press the [Play] soft key.

During playback, you can use the navigation keys for volume and track control, and the OK key to pause/resume.

Take a Picture (Snapshot):

1. On the Home screen, press [Start] > [More…], select Applications, select Camera, and press OK.

2. Press 1 on the keypad to ensure you are in picture mode (the icon should be a camera).

3. Aim your camera and press OK.

Take a Picture with a Timer:

1. In the Camera application, press [Menu] and select Camera.

2. Select Self-Timer and choose the desired delay.

3. After pressing OK to start the timer, the picture will be taken after the interval and saved automatically.

1. On the Home screen, press [Start] > [More…], select Applications, select Camera, and press OK.

2. Press 1 on the keypad. The icon in the upper Menu bar changes to the Camcorder icon.

3. Aim your camera and press OK to start recording.

4. To stop recording, press OK again or the [Stop] soft key.

1. On the Home screen, go to [Start] > [More…] > Applications > File Explorer > My Pictures.

2. Select the picture to edit and press OK.

3. Press [Menu] > [Edit] and press OK.

You can then choose one of the following options:

• [Rotate]: To rotate the picture 90 degrees counterclockwise.

• [Crop]: To crop the picture. Position the cursor to mark the upper left corner, press [Next], then position the cursor to mark the lower right corner, and press [Finish].

• [Auto Correct]: To automatically correct the picture.

• Press [Done] when finished.

1. From the Home screen, press [Start] and select Internet Explorer.

2. Press [Menu] > [Address Bar], enter the address of the page you want to add, and press Go.

3. Press [Menu] > [Add to Favorites].

4. Confirm or change the name and Web page address.

5. In Folder, select a location for this favorite.

6. Press Add.

Turn Bluetooth On/Off:

1. On the Home screen, press [Start] > Settings.

2. Scroll to Connections and press OK.

3. Select Bluetooth and press OK.

4. Press [Menu], select Turn On Bluetooth or Turn Off Bluetooth, and press OK.

Create a Bluetooth Partnership (Pairing):

1. On the Home screen, go to [Start] > Settings > Connections.

2. Select Bluetooth.

3. Select ‘Add new device…’ and press OK. Your phone will search for other devices.

4. Select the device you want to partner with and press [NEXT].

5. If prompted, enter a passkey (PIN) and press [Next]. Enter the same passkey on the other device.

Before using Voice Command, it’s recommended to set it up for better performance.

Initial Setup:

1. Adjust the Microphone: If available, turn off Automatic Gain Control and set the microphone gain to a medium level.

2. Set the Voice Command Button: Go to [Start] > [Applications] > [Voice Command]. In Voice Button, select the hardware button you want to use and press Done.

Using Voice Command:

1. Hold your PANTECH C180 DUO about 2 inches away.

2. Press and release the assigned Voice Command Button. A short melody will play, and a microphone icon will appear.

3. In a clear voice, say your command, such as “Call [Contact Name]” or “What time is it?”.

You can use the following voice commands:

Phone Calls:

• “Call [contact name]”

• “Dial [phone number]”

• “Callback”

• “Redial”

Appointments:

• “What’s my next appointment?”

• “What’s my schedule today?”

Phone Status:

• “What time is it?”

• “What is my battery level?”

Starting Programs:

• “Start Solitaire”

• “Open Internet Explorer”

Getting Help:

• “Help”

• “What can I say?”

The password screen blocks the Voice Command Button to prevent unauthorized phone calls while your PANTECH C180 DUO is locked. To enable voice commands from the lock screen, you can uncheck the ‘Password Protected’ option in the Voice Command settings. Note that some corporate security policies may prevent this override.

Task Manager helps resolve issues when the phone freezes and allows you to terminate unnecessary tasks.

1. On the Home screen, press [Start], select Applications, and press OK.

2. Scroll to Task Manager and press OK.

3. Select a program from the list and press [Stop] to terminate it.

You can also check the battery status, memory, and storage by pressing [Menu] and selecting [Status Info].

Call Forwarding:

1. On the Home screen, click [Start] > [Settings] > [Phone] > [Call Forwarding].

2. Choose a condition (e.g., Unconditional, No Reply, Busy).

3. Enter the number to which you want calls forwarded.

4. Make sure ‘Enable call forwarding’ is selected.

5. Click Done.

Caller ID:

1. Go to [Start] > [Settings] > [Phone].

2. Select Caller ID.

3. Choose from Everyone, No one, or Only my contacts to control the display of your number when you make calls.

View Profiles:

1. From the Home screen, press [Start].

2. Select Settings and press OK.

3. Scroll to Profiles and press OK.

Edit a Profile:

1. On the Home screen, use the navigation keys to select the current Profile and press OK.

2. Select the profile to edit.

3. Press the right soft key [Menu] and select [Edit].

4. Modify the settings and press [Done].

Change the Current Profile:

1. On the Home screen, use the navigation keys to select the current Profile and press OK.

2. Select a different profile from the list.

3. Press [Done]. (You can also use the Quick List for faster changes).

1. From the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start].

2. Select Settings and press OK.

3. Scroll to Security and press OK.

4. Select Device Lock and press OK.

5. Use the navigation keys to enable and activate ‘Prompt if device unused for’.

6. Use the Navigation Keys to set the amount of time for the phone to be inactive before the lock automatically activates.

7. Enter and confirm your password.

8. Press [Done].

A Master Clear erases all user data and initializes all settings to the factory default mode.

1. From the Home screen, press the left soft key [Start].

2. Select Settings and press OK.

3. Scroll to Security and press OK.

4. Select Master Clear and press OK.

If you forgot the password to unlock the Device-Lock, follow these steps:

1. Switch off the power and remove the SIM card.

2. Switch on the power. Press ‘*25327#’ on the Home screen and then press OK.
