About the battery charger:

• CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or product damage, do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet, or another confined space. Ensure the unit is well-ventilated.

• The battery charger is in a standby condition when the AC power supply cord is connected. The primary circuit is always “live” as long as the power cord is connected to an electrical outlet.

To prevent issues with your PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-FZ62 caused by electromagnetic interference, please follow these guidelines:

• Keep the camera as far away as possible from electromagnetic equipment such as microwave ovens, TVs, and video games.

Attaching the Lens Cap

When you turn the camera off or carry it, attach the lens cap to protect the lens surface.

Step 1. Pass the string through the hole on the camera body.

Step 2. Pass the same string through the hole on the lens cap.

Step 3. Attach the lens cap to the lens.

Attaching the Shoulder Strap

We recommend attaching the shoulder strap to prevent the camera from being dropped.

Step 1. Pass the shoulder strap through the hole at the shoulder strap eyelet.

Step 2. Pass the shoulder strap through the stopper and fasten it. Pull the shoulder strap 2 cm (0.066 feet) or more to secure it.

Step 3. Attach the other end of the shoulder strap to the other side of the camera, being careful not to twist it.

Use the dedicated charger (DE-A84A) and battery (DMW-BMB9E). The battery is not charged when the camera is shipped, so charge it before first use. Charge the battery indoors in temperatures between 10 °C to 30 °C (50 °F to 86 °F).

Step 1. Attach the battery to the charger, paying attention to the correct orientation.

Step 2. Connect the AC Mains Lead to the charger and plug it into a power outlet. The [CHARGE] indicator light on the charger will turn on, and charging will begin.

[CHARGE] Indicator Status:

• On: Charging is in progress.

• Off: Charging has completed.

The charging time for the DMW-BMB9E battery is approximately 155 minutes.

First, ensure the camera is turned off and the lens barrel is fully retracted.

Step 1. Slide the release lever on the bottom of the camera in the direction of the arrow and open the card/battery door.

Step 2. Insert/Remove the Battery:

• To insert: Being careful about the battery’s orientation, insert it all the way until you hear a locking sound. Check that it is securely locked by the lever.

• To remove: Pull the small lever in the direction of the arrow to release the battery.

Step 3. Insert/Remove the Memory Card:

• To insert: Being careful about the card’s orientation, push it securely all the way in until you hear a “click”.

• To remove: Push the card in until it clicks, then pull the card straight out.

Step 4. Close the card/battery door, then slide the release lever back to the locked position.

Note: Always use genuine Panasonic batteries (DMW-BMB9E). Keep the memory card out of reach of children to prevent swallowing.

Step 1. Turn the camera on using the ON/OFF switch. If it’s the first time, you will need to set the date and time.

Step 2. Select a recording mode by rotating the mode dial.

Step 3. Press the shutter button halfway to focus on your subject. The camera will confirm focus.

Step 4. Press the shutter button fully to take the picture.

You can switch the recording mode on your PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-FZ62 by rotating the mode dial. Each mode offers different levels of control:

• iA (Intelligent Auto): Take pictures with automatic settings. The camera selects the most appropriate settings for the scene.

• P (Program AE): Take pictures with your own settings, while the camera sets the aperture and shutter speed automatically.

• A (Aperture-Priority AE): You set the aperture value, and the shutter speed is automatically determined by the camera.

• S (Shutter-Priority AE): You set the shutter speed, and the aperture value is automatically determined by the camera.

• M (Manual Exposure): You manually adjust both the aperture value and the shutter speed.

• M (with film icon – Creative Video Mode): Record motion pictures with manual settings.

• C1, C2 (Custom): Use this mode to take pictures with previously registered custom settings.

• SCN (Scene): Take pictures according to a selected scene type (e.g., Portrait, Landscape).

• (Creative Control): Record pictures while checking a selected image effect on the screen.

Recording Motion Pictures (Videos)

• To start recording, press the dedicated motion picture button (red dot).

• To stop recording, press the motion picture button again.

• The maximum continuous recording time is 29 minutes 59 seconds for both [AVCHD] and [MP4] formats (or up to 4 GB for [MP4]). The recordable time is displayed on the screen.

Playing Back Pictures

• Press the [Playback] button to enter playback mode.

• Use the cursor buttons (left/right) to select the picture or video you want to view.

Deleting Pictures

• In playback mode, select the picture you want to delete.

• Press the [Delete/Cancel] button (trash can icon).

• A confirmation screen will appear. Select [Yes] and press [MENU/SET] to delete the picture.

Taking Pictures in Intelligent Auto (iA) Mode

This mode lets the camera set the most appropriate settings for the subject and recording conditions.

Step 1. Set the mode dial to [iA].

Step 2. Press the shutter button halfway to focus and then press it fully to take the picture.

Using the Defocus Control Function (Blur Background)

You can easily adjust the background blur while in iA mode.

Step 1. Press the rear dial to display the Defocus Control slider.

Step 2. Press the left/right cursor buttons or rotate the rear dial to adjust the level of blur.

Step 3. Press [MENU/SET] or the rear dial to confirm the setting.

Using Intelligent Auto Plus (iA+) Mode

This mode allows you to adjust brightness, color balance, and background blur.

Step 1. While in iA Mode, press [MENU/SET].

Step 2. Press the right cursor button to select [iA+] and then press [MENU/SET].

Step 3. Press the rear dial to display the adjustment options.

Step 4. Press the up/down cursor buttons to select an item to adjust (brightness, background blur, or color balance).

Step 5. Press the left/right cursor buttons or rotate the rear dial to make your adjustment.

Step 6. Press [MENU/SET] or the rear dial to set.

The rear dial allows you to quickly adjust key settings depending on the recording mode.

Compensating the Exposure (Applicable in P, A, S, M, C1, C2, SCN modes)

This adjusts the overall brightness of the image.

Step 1. Press the rear dial to highlight the Exposure Compensation value.

Step 2. Rotate the rear dial to compensate the exposure. A positive value (+) makes the image brighter, and a negative value (-) makes it darker. Set to [0] when no compensation is needed.

Setting Aperture Value and Shutter Speed

Pressing the rear dial cycles through the available items to set.

• Programme Shift (Recording mode: P): You can change the preset combination of aperture and shutter speed without changing the exposure. After pressing the shutter button halfway to display the values, rotate the rear dial to shift them.

• Aperture Value (Recording mode: A / M): Select the aperture icon. Rotate the rear dial to change the value. A lower number (e.g., F2.8) creates a soft, blurry background, while a higher number (e.g., F8.0) creates a sharp focus background.

• Shutter Speed (Recording mode: S / M): Select the shutter speed icon. Rotate the rear dial to change the speed. Use a faster speed to capture fast-moving subjects sharply or a slower speed to create a motion blur or trail effect.

Follow these steps to access and change settings in the camera’s menu:

Step 1. Press the [MENU/SET] button to open the menu.

Step 2. Press the up/down cursor buttons or rotate the rear dial to select a menu item.

Step 3. Press the right cursor button or the rear dial to enter the settings for that item.

Step 4. Press the up/down cursor buttons or rotate the rear dial to select your desired setting.

Step 5. Press [MENU/SET] or the rear dial to confirm and set the new setting.

To close the menu, press [MENU/SET] again or press the shutter button halfway.

Switching to Other Menus (e.g., from [Rec] to [Setup])

Step 1. Press [MENU/SET] to open the current menu.

Step 2. Press the left cursor button to show the menu category icons (e.g., Rec, Setup).

Step 3. Press the up/down cursor buttons or rotate the rear dial to select the desired menu icon (e.g., the wrench icon for [Setup]).

Step 4. Press the right cursor button or the rear dial to enter that menu. You can then select and set items as described above.
