When using the remote control for your PANASONIC CS-E15JKEW, please observe the following safety precautions:

• Do not use rechargeable (Ni-Cd) batteries.

• Do not allow infants and small children to play with the remote control to prevent them from accidentally swallowing the batteries.

• Remove the batteries if the unit is not going to be used for a long period of time.

• New batteries of the same type must be inserted following the polarity stated to prevent malfunction of the remote control.

Indoor Unit Warnings (Risk of death or serious injury):

• Do not install, remove and reinstall the unit by yourself; improper installation will cause leakage, electric shock or fire. Please consult an authorized dealer or specialist for the installation work.

• Do not insert your fingers or other objects into the unit, as rotating parts may cause injury.

• Do not attempt to repair the unit by yourself.

Indoor Unit Cautions (Risk of injury or property damage):

• Do not install the unit in a potentially explosive atmosphere.

• Do not wash the unit with water, benzene, thinner or scouring powder.

• Do not use for other purposes such as preservation of food.

• Do not use any combustible equipment in front of the airflow outlet.

• Do not expose directly to cold air for a long period.

• Ensure that the drainage pipe is connected properly. Otherwise, leakage may occur.

• Aerate the room regularly.

Outdoor Unit Warnings and Cautions:

• Do not insert your fingers or other objects into the unit; rotating parts may cause injury.

• Do not sit or step on the unit, as you may fall down accidentally.

• Do not touch the sharp aluminium fin; sharp parts may cause injury.

• Ensure that the drainage pipe is connected properly. Otherwise, leakage may occur.

• After long periods of use, make sure the installation rack is not damaged.

Warnings (Risk of death or serious injury):

• Do not share the same power outlet with other equipment.

• Do not modify power cords.

• Do not use extension cords.

• Do not operate with wet hands.

• Use the specified supply cord.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

• This equipment must be earthed and it is strongly recommended to be installed with an Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB) or Residual Current Device (RCD). Otherwise, it may cause electrical shock or fire in case of malfunction.

• In case of emergency or abnormal conditions (burnt smell, etc), turn off the power supply and consult an authorized dealer.

Compulsory Actions:

• Switch off the power supply before cleaning or servicing.

• Turn off the power supply if the unit is not used for a long period of time.

• This air conditioner is equipped with a built-in surge protective device. However, to further protect your air conditioner from being damaged by abnormally strong lightning activity, you may want to disconnect it from the power supply. Do not touch the air conditioner during lightning, as it may cause electric shock.

Use the PANASONIC CS-E15JKEW air conditioner under the following temperature range for the Single Split Outdoor Unit:

* DBT: Dry bulb temperature

* WBT: Wet bulb temperature

NOTICE: This model is not suitable for 24 hours non-stopping operation in heating mode below -5°C. When the outdoor temperature is below -5°C and you use this model out of the above conditions, the outdoor unit might be frozen up and stop operation for protection control.

The Auto OFF/ON button is used when the remote control is misplaced or malfunctions. The actions and corresponding modes are as follows:

The indicator lights on your PANASONIC CS-E15JKEW signify the following:

To select an operation mode on your PANASONIC CS-E15JKEW, press the MODE button. The available modes are:

• AUTO mode – For your convenience: The unit selects the operation mode every 30 minutes according to the temperature setting, outdoor, and room temperature. The power indicator blinks during this selection process.

• HEAT mode – To enjoy warm air: The unit takes a while to warm up. The power indicator blinks during this operation.

• COOL mode – To enjoy cool air.

• DRY mode – To dehumidify the environment: The unit operates at a low fan speed to provide a gentle cooling operation.

• To set the temperature: Press the TEMP buttons. The selection range is 16°C to 30°C. For energy saving, the recommended temperatures are: HEAT mode: 20°C ~ 24°C; COOL mode: 26°C ~ 28°C; DRY mode: 1°C ~ 2°C lower than room temperature.

• To select fan speed: Press the FAN SPEED button. There are 5 options available, including AUTO. In AUTO, the indoor fan speed is automatically adjusted according to the operation mode.

• To adjust vertical airflow direction: Press the AIR SWING button. There are 5 options, including AUTO. In AUTO, the louvers swing up/down automatically to keep the room ventilated. In heat mode, the air blows horizontally for a while, then starts to blow downwards.

• e-ion (To enjoy clean & fresh air): This function generates negative ions to produce a fresh air effect and attract dust, which is then captured by the e-ion filters.

• PATROL (To monitor air quality): The Patrol sensor detects air quality. If the quality is unsatisfactory, the e-ion operation starts automatically.

• MILD DRY COOLING (To improve humidity and moisture level – For single Split System): This reduces air dryness for a comfortable environment. When vertical airflow is set to AUTO, it stops at a lower position to avoid direct cold air contact.

• QUIET (To enjoy quiet environment): This operation reduces airflow noise.

• POWERFUL (To achieve temperature quickly).

• PATROL, e-ion, QUIET, and POWERFUL can be activated in all modes and can be cancelled by pressing the respective button again.

• MILD DRY COOLING can only be activated in COOL mode and can be cancelled by pressing the button again.

• PATROL, e-ion, or MILD DRY COOLING and QUIET, POWERFUL cannot be selected at the same time.

• PATROL and e-ion can be activated even when the unit is turned off. In this condition, fan speed and air swing cannot be adjusted.

To set the timer to turn the unit ON or OFF at a preset time, follow these steps:

1. Press the ON or OFF button in the TIMER section to select either the ON or OFF timer.

2. Use the arrow buttons to set the desired time.

3. Press the SET button to confirm.

• To cancel the ON or OFF timer, press the corresponding ON or OFF button, and then press CANCEL.

• When the ON Timer is set, the unit may start earlier (up to 35 minutes) before the set time to achieve the desired temperature on time.

• Timer operation is based on the clock set in the remote control and repeats daily once set.

• If the timer is cancelled manually or due to a power failure, you can restore the previous setting (once power is resumed) by pressing SET.

• Automatic Patrol Start: Press and hold the PATROL button for 5 seconds to disable or restore the setting where Patrol starts automatically when the unit is switched on.

• Indicator Brightness: Press and hold the AIR SWING button for 5 seconds to dim or restore the unit’s indicator brightness.

• Temperature Unit (°C/°F): Press and hold the down arrow TEMP button for approximately 10 seconds to show the temperature setting in °C or °F.

• Time Format (12/24-hour): Press and hold the CLOCK button for approximately 5 seconds to show 12-hour (am/pm) or 24-hour time indication.

• Remote Control Reset: Press the RC RESET button to restore the remote control’s default setting.

Before cleaning, switch off the power supply. Do not touch the aluminium fin, as sharp parts may cause injury.

Washing Instructions:

• Do not use benzene, thinner or scouring powder.

• Use only soap (pH7) or neutral household detergent.

• Do not use water hotter than 40°C.

Front Panel:

1. Raise and pull to remove the front panel.

2. Wash it gently and dry it.

3. To close, press down on both ends of the front panel to close it securely.

e-ion Filters:

1. Clean the filters regularly.

2. Wash/rinse the filters gently with water to avoid damage.

3. Dry the filters thoroughly in the shade, away from fire or direct sunlight.

4. Replace any damaged filter.

Indoor Unit:

• Wipe the unit gently with a soft, dry cloth.

Active e-ion Generator:

• Clean with a dry cotton bud. It is recommended to clean the Active e-ion generator every 6 months.

For Seasonal Inspection After Extended Non-Use:

• Check the remote control batteries.

• Ensure there is no obstruction at air inlet and air outlet vents.

• Use the Auto OFF/ON button to select Cooling/Heating operation. After 15 minutes of operation, it is normal to have the following temperature difference between air inlet and air outlet vents: Cooling: ≥ 8°C, Heating: ≥ 14°C.

For Extended Non-Use:

• Activate Heat mode for 2-3 hours to remove moisture left in the internal parts thoroughly.

• Turn off the power supply.

• Remove the remote control batteries.

TURN OFF THE POWER SUPPLY and consult an authorized dealer under the following non-serviceable conditions:

• Abnormal noise during operation.

• Water/foreign particles have entered the remote control.

• Water leaks from the Indoor unit.

• Circuit breaker switches off frequently.

• Power cord becomes unnaturally warm.

• Switches or buttons are not functioning properly.

If the unit stops and the timer indicator blinks, use the remote control to retrieve the error code:

1. Press and hold the CHECK button (located under the remote cover) for 5 seconds.

2. Press the up/down arrow buttons until you hear a beep sound, then jot down the error code that is displayed.

3. Press the CHECK button again for 5 seconds to quit checking.

4. Turn the unit off and reveal the error code to an authorized dealer.

Note: For certain errors, you may restart the unit with limited operation, and it will emit 4 beeps when operation starts.
