• Aerate the room regularly.

To ensure safe operation of the outdoor unit, please observe the following:

Warnings (to prevent death or serious injury):

• Do not insert your fingers or other objects into the unit, as rotating parts may cause injury.

Cautions (to prevent injury or property damage):

• Do not sit or step on the unit, you may fall down accidentally.

• Do not touch the sharp aluminium fin, as sharp parts may cause injury.

• Ensure that the drainage pipe is connected properly. Otherwise, leakage may occur.

• After long periods of use, make sure the installation rack is not damaged.

For the power supply of your PANASONIC CS-E12JKEW, please follow these safety precautions:

Warnings (to prevent death or serious injury):

Use the PANASONIC CS-E12JKEW air conditioner under the following temperature ranges. DBT stands for Dry bulb temperature and WBT stands for Wet bulb temperature.

NOTICE: This model is not suitable for 24 hours non-stopping operation in heating mode below -5°C. When the outdoor temperature is below -5°C and you use this model out of the above conditions, the outdoor unit might be frozen up and stop operation for protection control.

Multi air conditioner systems save space by letting you connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit. Here’s how it operates:

• It is possible to operate the indoor units individually or simultaneously. The operation mode priority is given to the first unit that is turned on.

• During operation, heating and cooling mode cannot be activated at the same time for different indoor units. The power indicator blinks to indicate the indoor unit is standing by for a different operation mode.

The Auto OFF/ON button is used when the remote control is misplaced or malfunctions. The operation varies based on how you press it:

The indicator lights on your PANASONIC CS-E12JKEW provide information about its status:

• PATROL SENSOR: Blue

• POWER: Green

• TIMER: Orange

• QUIET: Orange

• POWERFUL: Orange

• e-ion: Blue

• MILD DRY COOLING: Blue

Here are the basic operations for your PANASONIC CS-E12JKEW using the remote control:

• TO TURN ON OR OFF THE UNIT: Press the OFF/ON button. Be aware of the OFF indication on the display to prevent accidental starting/stopping.

• TO SET TEMPERATURE: Press the TEMP buttons. The selection range is 16°C ~ 30°C. For energy saving, operate within these recommended ranges: HEAT mode (20°C ~ 24°C), COOL mode (26°C ~ 28°C), DRY mode (1°C ~ 2°C lower than room temperature).

• TO SELECT OPERATION MODE: Press the MODE button to cycle through the options.

• AUTO mode: The unit selects the operation mode automatically based on temperature settings and room/outdoor temperatures. The power indicator blinks during selection.

• HEAT mode: The unit takes a while to warm up. The power indicator blinks during this process.

• COOL mode: To enjoy cool air.

• DRY mode: The unit operates at low fan speed to gently dehumidify the environment.

• TO SELECT FAN SPEED: Press the FAN SPEED button to cycle through 5 options. For AUTO fan speed, the indoor fan speed is automatically adjusted.

• TO ADJUST VERTICAL AIRFLOW DIRECTION: Press the AIR SWING button for 5 options. If AUTO is set, the louvers swing up/down automatically. In HEAT mode, the air blows horizontally for a while, then downwards.

Your PANASONIC CS-E12JKEW has several special functions for enhanced comfort and air quality:

• e-ion (TO ENJOY CLEAN & FRESH AIR): Generates negative ions to produce a fresh air effect and attract dust, which is then captured by the positively charged e-ion filters.

• PATROL (TO MONITOR AIR QUALITY): The patrol sensor detects air quality. If it’s unsatisfactory, the e-ion operation starts automatically.

• MILD DRY COOLING (TO IMPROVE HUMIDITY AND MOISTURE LEVEL): This operation reduces air dryness for a comfortable environment. When vertical airflow is set to AUTO, it stops at a lower position to avoid direct cold air contact. This function can only be activated in COOL mode.

• QUIET (TO ENJOY QUIET ENVIRONMENT): This operation reduces airflow noise.

• POWERFUL (TO ACHIEVE TEMPERATURE QUICKLY): Rapidly cools or heats the room.

Note:

• PATROL, e-ion, QUIET, and POWERFUL can be activated in all modes. Press the respective button again to cancel.

• PATROL, e-ion, and MILD DRY COOLING, or QUIET and POWERFUL cannot be selected at the same time.

• PATROL and e-ion can be activated even when the unit is off. In this state, fan speed and air swing cannot be adjusted.

To set the ON or OFF timer for your PANASONIC CS-E12JKEW, follow these steps:

1. Press the ON or OFF button under the TIMER section to select the timer you want to set.

2. Use the arrow buttons to set the desired time.

3. Press the SET button to confirm.

To cancel the ON or OFF timer, press the corresponding ON or OFF button and then press CANCEL.

Notes:

• When the ON Timer is set, the unit may start earlier (up to 35 minutes) than the set time to achieve the desired temperature on time.

• Timer operation is based on the clock set in the remote control and repeats daily once set.

• If the timer is cancelled manually or due to a power failure, you can restore the previous setting by pressing SET once power is resumed.

You can customize several settings on your PANASONIC CS-E12JKEW:

• Patrol Auto-Start: Patrol starts automatically when the unit is switched on. Press and hold the PATROL button for 5 seconds to disable or restore this setting.

• Indicator Brightness: Press and hold the up-arrow TEMP button for 5 seconds to dim or restore the unit’s indicator brightness.

• Temperature Unit (°C/°F): Press and hold the down-arrow TEMP button for approximately 10 seconds to switch between °C and °F.

• Time Format (12/24-hour): Press and hold the CLOCK button for approximately 5 seconds to switch between 12-hour (am/pm) and 24-hour time indication.

• Remote Control Reset: Press the RC RESET button with a pointed object to restore the remote control’s default settings.

Before cleaning, switch off the power supply. Do not touch the aluminium fin, as sharp parts may cause injury.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS:

• Do not use benzene, thinner or scouring powder.

• Use only soap (pH7) or neutral household detergent.

• Do not use water hotter than 40°C.

CLEANING PROCEDURES:

• FRONT PANEL: Raise and pull to remove the front panel. Wash it gently and dry. Press down both ends to close it securely.

• e-ion FILTERS: Clean the filters regularly. Wash/rinse them gently with water. Dry thoroughly in the shade, away from fire or direct sunlight. Replace any damaged filters.

• INDOOR UNIT: Wipe the unit gently with a soft, dry cloth.

• ACTIVE e-ion GENERATOR: Clean with a dry cotton bud. It is recommended to clean the active e-ion generator every 6 months.

FOR SEASONAL INSPECTION AFTER EXTENDED NON-USE:

• Check the remote control batteries.

• Check that there is no obstruction at air inlet and air outlet vents.

• Use the Auto OFF/ON button on the unit to select Cooling/Heating operation. After 15 minutes, it is normal to have the following temperature difference between inlet and outlet vents: Cooling: ≥ 8°C, Heating: ≥ 14°C.

FOR EXTENDED NON-USE:

• Activate Heat mode for 2-3 hours to remove moisture left in the internal parts thoroughly.

• Turn off the power supply.

• Remove the remote control batteries.

The following symptoms are normal and do not indicate a malfunction with your PANASONIC CS-E12JKEW:

• Mist emerges from indoor unit: This is a condensation effect from the cooling process.

• Water flowing sound during operation: This is the sound of refrigerant flowing inside the unit.

• The room has a peculiar odour: This may be a damp smell from the wall, carpet, furniture, or clothing.

• Indoor fan stops occasionally during automatic fan speed setting: This helps to remove surrounding odours.

• Airflow continues even after operation has stopped: This is for the extraction of remaining heat from the indoor unit (maximum 30 seconds).

• Operation is delayed a few minutes after restart: This is a protection for the unit’s compressor.

• Outdoor unit emits water/steam: Condensation or evaporation occurs on pipes.

• Timer indicator is always on: The timer setting repeats daily once set.

• Power indicator blinks and indoor fan is stopped: The unit is in defrost mode, and melted frost is drained from the outdoor unit.

• Indoor fan stops occasionally during heating: This is to avoid an unintended cooling effect.

• Power indicator blinks before the unit is switched on: This is a preliminary step for operation when the ON timer has been set.

• Cracking sound during operation: Changes of temperature cause the expansion/contraction of the unit.

Before calling for service, check the following points:

• Heating/Cooling operation is not working efficiently:

– Set the temperature correctly.

– Close all doors and windows.

– Clean or replace the filters.

– Clear any obstruction at the air inlet and air outlet vents.

• Noisy during operation:

– Check if the unit has been installed at an incline.

– Close the front panel properly.

• Remote control does not work (Display is dim or signal is weak):

– Insert the batteries correctly.

– Replace weak batteries.

• The unit does not work:

– Check if the circuit breaker is tripped.

– Check if timers have been set.

• The unit does not receive the signal from the remote control:

– Make sure the receiver is not obstructed.

– Certain fluorescent lights may interfere with the signal transmitter. Please consult an authorized dealer.

• PATROL operation does not work:

– Press and hold the PATROL button for 15 seconds until a beep sound is heard, then press PATROL again.

• Patrol sensor or e-ion indicator is blinking:

– Press the PATROL or e-ion button twice. If the blinking continues, please consult an authorized dealer.

If the unit stops and the timer indicator blinks, use the remote control to retrieve the error code:

1. Press and hold the up arrow in the TIMER section for 5 seconds.

2. Press the up/down arrows until you hear a beep sound, then jot down the displayed error code.

3. Press the up arrow in the TIMER section again for 5 seconds to quit checking.

4. Turn the unit off and reveal the error code to an authorized dealer.

Note: For certain errors, you may restart the unit with limited operation, with 4 beeps heard when operation starts.

To prepare your remote control for use:

1. Pull out the battery cover.

2. Insert two AAA or R03 batteries. They can be used for approximately 1 year.

3. Close the cover.

4. Press the CLOCK button.

5. Use the arrow buttons to set the current time.

6. Press the SET button to confirm.
