What are the key safety precautions and warnings for the OMRON E5CC?

To ensure safe operation of the OMRON E5CC, please adhere to the following precautions:

WARNING: Minor electric shock, fire, or malfunction of the product may occasionally occur. Do not disassemble, modify or repair the product or touch any of the internal parts. Set the parameters of the product so that they are suitable for the system being controlled. If they are not suitable, unexpected operation may result in property damage or an accident.

CAUTION: Minor injury, fire, or malfunction of the product may occasionally occur. Please observe the following points:

• This product is designed for use in general industrial equipment. It must not be used in the applications listed below:

– Applications that have a serious impact on human life and property such as nuclear power control, railway facilities, aviation facilities, vehicles, combustion facilities, medical equipment, amusement facilities, and safety devices.

– However, for applications where the equipment requires safety devices or redundant circuits to prevent a serious impact when a problem occurs in the control system of the equipment, and for applications that require an industry-specific standards such as those from JISC, ensure that the safety devices or redundant circuits have been appropriately set up.

• This product is for indoor use only. Do not use this product in the following places:

– Places directly subject to heat from heating equipment.

– Places subject to splashing liquid or oil atmosphere.

– Places subject to direct sunlight.

– Places subject to dust or corrosive gas (in particular, sulfide gas and ammonia gas).

– Places subject to severe temperature changes.

– Places subject to icing and condensation.

– Places subject to vibration and large shocks.

• Use and store the product in a place where the ambient temperature and humidity are within the specified ranges.

• Do not block the vents on the product. Poor ventilation may cause fire.

• Be sure to wire the product correctly with the correct polarity of the terminals.

• Use crimp terminals of the specified size (M3.5, width of 7.2 mm or less).

• Do not connect anything to the unused terminals.

• Tighten the terminal screws to the tightening torque recommended in the instruction manual.

• Be sure to set the protection settings on the product to protect the system. OMRON will not be held responsible for any damage arising from insufficient protection settings.

• Before you use the product, allow for a 30-minute warm-up time after the power is turned ON. This is required for the correct temperature to be displayed.

• Do not use thinner or similar chemicals to clean the product. Use commercial alcohol.

• Separate the product from devices that generate high frequencies (such as high-frequency welders and high-frequency sewing machines) and devices that generate surges.

• When disposing of this product, treat it as industrial waste.

What are the precautions for safe and correct use of the OMRON E5CC?

Precautions for Safe Use:

• Always use the specified power supply voltage. Failure to do so may result in malfunction or fire.

• Ensure that the rated voltage is reached within two seconds of turning ON the power. If the voltage is applied gradually, the power may not be reset or output malfunctions may occur.

• Do not touch the terminals while power is on to avoid electric shock.

• Do not allow metal particles, wire clippings, or fine metallic shavings or filings to enter the product, as this may result in malfunction, fire, or electric shock.

• Do not attempt to disassemble, modify, or repair the product.

• Install the product where the following conditions are met:

– Ambient temperature: -10 to 55°C (with no icing or condensation)

– Ambient humidity: 25% to 85%

– Altitude of 2,000 m or less.

– Recommended indoor panel installation.

– No corrosive or flammable gases.

– Away from water, oil, chemicals, direct sunlight, dust, salt, iron powder, vibration, or shock.

• Use and store the product within the specified temperature and humidity ranges.

• The life of output relays depends on switching conditions. Consider the actual application and use the product within the rated load and electrical life.

Precautions for Correct Use:

• Handle the product carefully to avoid damage from dropping or shock.

• Do not touch the display or keys with hard or sharp objects.

• Use specified crimp terminals (M3.5, width of 7.2 mm or less) for wiring.

• Keep wiring away from power cables carrying high voltages or large currents to prevent induction and noise.

• Use the product within the rated load and power supply.

• Allow a 30-minute warm-up period for accurate temperature display.

• A switch or circuit breaker must be installed to allow the operator to immediately turn OFF the power. It should be located within easy reach and marked as a disconnecting device.

• The unit may be damaged if the voltage output from the SSR drive output terminals is short-circuited.

• When setting the “Input type” parameter, refer to the “Input type” table in the PDF to ensure settings are correct, as incorrect settings will cause measurement errors.

• Use a single OMRON E5CC unit per power supply circuit for CT connection. If multiple units are used, errors will occur in the measured current values.

What are the installation dimensions and mounting instructions for the OMRON E5CC?

Dimensions:

• The overall dimensions of the OMRON E5CC are 48 x 48 mm (front) and 60 mm (depth).

Panel Cutout:

• The panel cutout size should be 45 x 45 mm.

• The recommended panel thickness is 1 to 5 mm.

Installation Mounting Methods:

Individual Mounting:

1. Insert the OMRON E5CC into the mounting hole in the panel.

2. Push the adapter in from the terminals on the rear until the adapter contacts the panel and is temporarily secured.

3. Tighten the two mounting screws on the adapter. Alternate between the top and bottom screws, tightening them a little at a time to keep them at the same tightness.

Side-by-side Mounting:

1. Insert the OMRON E5CC controllers into the mounting holes in the panel.

2. Insert adapters on the Digital Controllers.

3. Insert a watertight packing if waterproofing is required. The OMRON E5CC is not waterproof if mounted side-by-side without watertight packing.

To maintain a waterproof construction, insert the watertight packing onto the OMRON E5CC. When multiple units are mounted, the waterproof construction is lost.

How do I troubleshoot error displays on the OMRON E5CC?

When an error occurs on the OMRON E5CC, the display will show an error code. The following table explains the error codes and the necessary actions to resolve them.

Error Display Error Name Description and Action
E111 Input value over The process value exceeded the displayable range (-1999 to 9999). Check the sensor and the input setting.
S.ERR Sensor input error The input is disconnected or short-circuited. The control output turns OFF. Check the sensor wiring and connection.
E333 A/D converter error The A/D converter has failed. The control output turns OFF. Replace the OMRON E5CC unit.
