What installation precautions should be observed for the MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50?
Your MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50 is designed for trouble-free performance, but the following precautions must be observed before connecting power:
Do not use the MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50 near water.
Keep the MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50 away from heat sources such as radiators.
Place all connecting cables where they are not likely to be walked on or trapped by items placed on them.
How do I make standard connections to the MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50?
All connections should be made before the mains lead is plugged in and the unit switched on. The MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50 is a mono power amplifier; two are required for stereo operation.
Connect your pre-amp or other line level source to the phono input on the back panel marked “Line Input”. Ideally, use high-quality interconnect cables for this connection.
Connect your loudspeaker to the loudspeaker terminals situated on the back panel marked “Loudspeaker Output”.
Once these connections are made, plug in the IEC type mains lead and switch on the unit.
How can I set up bi-amping with the MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50?
The MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50 features a “Loop Out” facility to allow for easy bi-amping of speakers with bi-wireable crossovers. In this setup, typically one MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50 is used to drive the tweeter (high frequencies) and one to drive the woofer (low frequencies) of each loudspeaker enclosure. Four units would be required for a stereo pair.
To set this up, take the left channel connections first:
1. Connect the pre-amp’s (or other source’s) left output to the first MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50’s line input.
2. Connect that unit’s loop output to the second MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50’s line input. Both units will now be driven from the same left channel signal.
3. Use the first MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50 to drive the woofer and the second to drive the tweeter of the left channel loudspeaker.
4. Repeat this process for the right channel.
How does Radio Frequency Interference (R.F.I.) affect the MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50?
The MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50 has been tested to ensure operation is not adversely affected by normal background levels of R.F.I. However, if the unit is subjected to abnormally high levels of R.F.I., it is possible that the unit may not perform as expected.
Can I remove the covers of the MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50 for service or adjustments?
Do not remove any covers. The MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A50 will not be covered under warranty if it has been tampered with. There are no adjustments within.
