• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities if they have been given supervision or instruction. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

• Children aged from 3 to 8 years are allowed to load and unload refrigerating appliances. Children are not expected to perform cleaning or user maintenance of the appliance. Very young children (0-3 years) are not expected to use appliances. Young children (3-8 years) are not expected to use appliances safely unless continuous supervision is given. Before using your MONTPELLIER MNF1860W WHITE for the first time, please pay attention to the following points:

• The operating voltage is 220-240 V at 50Hz.

• The plug must be accessible after installation.

• Your fridge freezer may have an odour when first operated. This is normal and will fade as it cools.

• Before connecting, ensure the information on the data plate (voltage and connected load) matches the mains electricity supply. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.

• Place your fridge freezer where it will not be exposed to direct sunlight.

• Your fridge freezer must never be used outdoors or exposed to rain.

• Your appliance must be at least 50 cm away from stoves, gas ovens, and heater cores, and at least 5 cm away from electrical ovens.

• If placed next to a deep freezer, there must be at least 2 cm between them to prevent humidity forming on the outer surface.

• Do not cover the body or top of the fridge freezer with lace.

• A clearance of at least 150 mm is required at the top of your appliance. Do not place anything on top.

• Do not place heavy items on the appliance.

• Clean the appliance thoroughly before use. Wipe all parts with a solution of warm water and a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate, then rinse and dry.

• Use the adjustable front legs to make sure your appliance is level and stable. This must be done before placing food inside.

• Install the two plastic distance guides (on the black vanes – condenser – at the rear) by turning them 90° to prevent the condenser from touching the wall. The distance between the appliance and the back wall must be a maximum of 75 mm.

This appliance must be earthed. The mains lead has been fitted with a specially earthed plug.

Important: Do not use the appliance without the fuse cover in position. Should the fuse need to be replaced, it must be replaced with a 13A fuse, ASTA approved to BS1362.

The plug must be used with a specially earthed socket of 13 amperes. If there is no such socket in your house, please have one installed by an authorised electrician.

The mains lead of this appliance has been fitted with a BS 1363A 13A fused plug. To change a fuse in this type of plug, follow the steps below:

1. Remove the fuse cover and fuse.

2. Fit replacement 13A fuse, ASTA approved to BS 1362 type, into the fuse cover.

3. Replace fuse cover.

• Do not connect your fridge freezer to the mains electricity supply using an extension lead.

• Do not use damaged, torn or old plugs.

• Do not pull, bend or damage the cord.

• Do not use a plug adapter.

• This appliance is designed for use by adults. Do not allow children to play with the appliance or hang off the door.

• Never touch the power cord/plug with wet hands. This may cause a short circuit or electric shock.

• Do not place glass bottles or cans in the ice-making compartment as they will burst when the contents freeze.

• Do not place explosive or flammable material in your fridge. Place drinks with high alcohol content vertically in the fridge compartment and make sure their tops are tightly closed.

• When removing ice from the ice-making compartment, do not touch it. Ice may cause frost burns and/or cuts.

• Do not touch frozen goods with wet hands.

• Do not eat ice cream or ice cubes immediately after they are removed from the ice-making compartment.

• Do not re-freeze thawed frozen food. This may cause health issues such as food poisoning.

If your old fridge or freezer has a lock, break or remove the lock before discarding it, because children may get trapped inside it and may cause an accident.

Old fridges and freezers contain isolation material and refrigerant with CFC. Therefore, take care not to harm the environment when you are discarding your old fridges.

The control panel on your MONTPELLIER MNF1860W WHITE has the following functions:

1. Freezer Set Button: Enables the setting of the freezer temperature.

2. Cooler Set Button: Enables the setting of the cooler (fridge) temperature.

3. Freezer Set Value Screen: Displays the set temperature for the freezer.

4. Cooler Set Value Screen: Displays the set temperature for the cooler (fridge).

5. Economy Mode Symbol: Indicates when Economy mode is active.

6. Super Freeze Symbol: Indicates when Super Freeze mode is active.

7. Alarm Symbol: Indicates an alarm or warning.

When you first plug in the product, all symbols will be displayed for 2 seconds. The initial values will be shown as -18 °C for the freezer and +4 °C for the fridge.

The initial temperature value for the freezer setting is -18 °C.

• Press the freezer set button once. When you first press the button, the previous value will blink on the screen.

• Whenever you press the same button, a lower temperature will be set. The available settings are -16 °C, -18 °C, -20 °C, -22 °C, or -24 °C.

• If you continue to press the button, it will restart from -16 °C.

NOTE: Eco mode activates automatically when the freezer temperature is set to -18°C, and the Eco Mode Symbol will illuminate.

The initial temperature value for the fridge setting is +4 °C.

• Press the fridge button once.

• Whenever you press the button, a lower temperature will be set. The available settings are +8 °C, +6 °C, +5 °C, +4 °C, or +2 °C.

• If you continue to press the button, it will restart from +8 °C.

Purpose:

• To freeze a large quantity of food that cannot fit on the fast freeze shelf.

• To freeze prepared foods.

• To freeze fresh food quickly to retain freshness.

How to use:

To enable the super freeze mode, press and hold the freezer temperature setting button for 3 seconds. Once set, the super freeze symbol will light up on the indicator, and the machine will beep to confirm.

During Super Freeze Mode:

• The temperature of the Cooler (fridge) may be adjusted, and Super Freeze mode will continue.

• Economy mode cannot be selected.

• Super Freeze mode can be cancelled in the same way it is selected (by pressing and holding the freezer button for 3 seconds).

Notes:

• The maximum amount of fresh food (in kilograms) that can be frozen within 24 hours is shown on the appliance label.

• For optimal appliance performance in maximum freezer capacity, activate super freeze mode 3 hours before you put fresh food into the freezer.

The ‘Freezer Shield’ (also referred to as Super Freezing) is a feature designed so that you can continue to use the freezer and protect the food stored in it, even in low ambient temperatures. It is designed to work in difficult climate conditions, ensuring frozen food in the freezer will not defrost even if the ambient temperature falls as low as -15 °C.

• You may install your appliance in an unheated room without worrying about frozen food being spoiled. When the ambient temperature returns to normal, you may continue using the appliance as usual.

• In temperatures below 10°C and especially below 0°C, your appliance may stop running as it would consider it cold enough. This would also mean the freezer will stop running and cause your food to start defrosting and then re-freeze when the ambient temperature rises, which is a serious health concern. The ‘Freezer Shield’ prevents this.

• While using this function for a continued length of time, especially in ambient temperatures lower than 0°C, it is not recommended to store food items in the fridge with high water content/liquids as these items will freeze and possibly rot.

• Super freeze mode will automatically cancel after 24 hours, depending on the environmental temperature or when the freezer sensor reaches a sufficiently low temperature.

Yes. If the fridge door is opened for more than 2 minutes, the appliance sounds ‘beep beep’.

• Your appliance is designed to operate in the ambient temperature ranges stated in the standards, according to the climate class on the information label. It is not recommended that your fridge is operated in environments outside of the stated temperature ranges. This will reduce the cooling efficiency.

• Temperature adjustments should be made according to the frequency of door openings, the quantity of food kept inside, and the ambient temperature in the location of your appliance.

• When the appliance is first switched on, allow it to run for 24 hours to reach operating temperature. During this time, do not open the door and do not keep a large quantity of food inside.

• A 5-minute delay function is applied to prevent damage to the compressor when connecting or disconnecting to mains, or when an energy breakdown occurs. Your appliance will begin to operate normally after 5 minutes.

The climate class indicates the intended ambient temperature range for the appliance:

T (tropical): This refrigerating appliance is intended to be used at ambient temperatures ranging from 16 °C to 43 °C.

ST (subtropical): This refrigerating appliance is intended to be used at ambient temperatures ranging from 16 °C to 38 °C.

N (temperate): This refrigerating appliance is intended to be used at ambient temperatures ranging from 16 °C to 32 °C.

SN (extended temperate): This refrigerating appliance is intended to be used at ambient temperatures ranging from 10 °C to 32 °C.

• Fill the ice tray with water and place it in the freezer compartment.

• After the water has completely frozen, you can twist the tray as shown in the manual’s diagram to remove the ice cubes.

The storage box can be adjusted for 2 different functions: a 0°C Chiller department or a Crisper department.

To use as a 0 °C department (Chiller):

If you want to use this compartment as a 0 °C box, you must take the sliding cover from the closed position to the open position. This setting allows food like raw fish, lightly pickled food, and rice to retain freshness and flavour for longer. When the Chiller tray becomes dirty, remove it and wash it with water. Do not put food you want to freeze or ice trays in this compartment.

To use as a Crisper department:

If you want to use this compartment as a Crisper, you must take the sliding cover from the open position to the closed position.

To remove the freezer box for easier access to food:

1. Pull the box out as far as possible using the handle in the front of the freezer box (A).

2. Pull the front of the box up and out, making sure to use the carrying handles on the side of the freezer box (B).

Always keep hold of the carrying handles (B) of the box while removing and replacing to avoid damage to the pull-out handle (A). To refit the freezer box, carry out the opposite of this operation.

For normal operating conditions, set the temperature of the cooler compartment to +4 or +6 °C.

• To reduce humidity and frost, always store liquids in sealed containers.

• Cooked dishes must remain covered. Do not place warm foods in the fridge; place them in when they are cool.

• Make sure no items are in direct contact with the rear wall of the appliance, as frost will develop and packaging will stick to it.

• Do not open the refrigerator door frequently.

• We recommend that meat and clean fish are loosely wrapped and stored on the glass shelf just above the vegetable bin where the air is cooler.

• Store loose fruit and vegetable items in the crisper containers.

• Storing fruit and vegetables separately helps prevent ethylene-sensitive vegetables (green leaves, broccoli, carrot, etc.) from being affected by ethylene-releaser fruits (banana, peach, apricot, fig, etc.).

• Do not put wet vegetables into the refrigerator.

• Water leaking from meat may contaminate other products. You should package meat products and clean any leakages on the shelves.

• Do not put food in front of the air flow passage.

• Consume packaged foods before the recommended expiry date.

• Do not put hot food in the refrigerator immediately. Hot foods increase the degree of your refrigerator and can cause food poisoning.

• Meat, fish, etc. should be stored in the chiller compartment, and the vegetable compartment is preferred for vegetables (if available).

• Foods should be placed in the refrigerator in closed containers or covered to prevent moisture and odors.

NOTE: Potatoes, onions and garlic should not be stored in the refrigerator.

Refrigerator Storage Guide

The freezer is used for storing frozen food, freezing fresh food, and making ice cubes.

• For freezing fresh food, wrap and seal it properly. The packaging should be airtight and not leak. Special freezer bags, aluminum foil, polythene bags, and plastic containers are ideal.

• Do not store fresh food next to frozen food as it can thaw the frozen food.

• Before freezing fresh food, divide it into portions that can be consumed in one sitting.

• Consume thawed frozen food within a short period of time after defrosting.

• Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions on food packaging. If no information is provided, food should not be stored for more than 3 months from the date of purchase.

• When purchasing frozen food, make sure it has been stored under appropriate conditions and that the packaging is not damaged.

• If the freezer door has been left open for a long time or not closed properly, frost will form. To resolve this, unplug the freezer, wait for it to defrost, and clean it once fully defrosted.

• Do not refreeze thawed food. It may pose a danger to your health.

NOTE: If you attempt to open the freezer door immediately after closing it, you will find that it will not open easily. This is normal. Once equilibrium has been reached, the door will open easily.

• For optimum performance to reach maximum freezing capacity, set the refrigerator at 4 °C for 24 hours before placing fresh food into the freezer. After placing fresh food, changing the setting to 2 °C for 24 hours is generally sufficient.

• Use the fast freezing shelf (the bottom drawer of the freezer compartment) to freeze home cooking and other food more quickly.

NOTE: Thawed frozen meat should be cooked as fresh meat. If the meat is not cooked after defrosting, it must not be re-frozen.

The power supply must be disconnected during cleaning.

• Disconnect the unit from the power supply before cleaning.

• Do not wash your appliance by pouring water on it.

• Do not use abrasive products, detergents or soaps. After washing, rinse with clean water and dry carefully. When finished, reconnect the plug to the mains supply with dry hands.

• Make sure that no water enters the lamp housing and other electrical components.

• The appliance should be cleaned regularly using a solution of bicarbonate of soda and lukewarm water.

• Clean the accessories separately by hand with soap and water. Do not wash accessories in a dishwasher.

• Clean the condenser with a brush at least twice a year. This will help you save on energy costs and increase productivity.

Your appliance performs automatic defrosting. The water formed as a result of defrosting passes through the water collection spout, flows into the water tray behind your appliance, and evaporates there.

To clean the water tray:

• Make sure you have disconnected the plug of your appliance before cleaning the water tray.

• Remove the water tray from its position by removing the screws (if it has screws). Clean it with soapy water at specific time intervals. This will prevent odours from forming.

• Fasten your appliance with thick packaging, bands or strong cords and follow the instructions for transportation on the packaging.

• Remove all movable parts or fix them into the appliance against shocks using bands when re-positioning or transporting.

• Always carry your appliance in the upright position.

• It is not possible to change the opening direction of your appliance door if door handles are installed on the front surface of the appliance door.

• It is possible to change the opening direction of the door on models with a handle on the side of the door, in the front of the door, or without handles.

• If the door-opening direction of your appliance can be changed, contact the nearest Authorised Service Centre to change the opening direction.

Your fridge will warn you if temperatures are improper or if a problem occurs. Warning codes are displayed in the freezer and cooler indicators via the Alarm Symbol and the fault codes below.

If you are experiencing a problem, please check the following:

• Is there power?

• Is the plug correctly placed in the socket?

• Has the plug fuse or the mains fuse blown?

• Is the socket defective? To check this, plug another working appliance into the same socket.

Check if:

• The appliance is overloaded.

• The appliance door is closed properly.

• There is any dust on the condenser.

• There is enough space near the rear and side walls.

The following noises are normal:

Cracking noise: Occurs during automatic defrosting or when the appliance is cooled or warmed (due to expansion and contraction of appliance material).

Short cracking noise: Occurs when the thermostat switches the compressor on/off.

Motor noise: Indicates the compressor is operating normally. The compressor may cause more noise for a short time when it is first activated. The noise may increase in some models during operation in certain conditions, such as after being first plugged in or a change in ambient temperature. This is normal; when the refrigerator reaches the required temperature, the noise decreases automatically.

Bubbling noise and splash: Due to the flow of the refrigerant in the tubes of the system.

Water flowing noise: Due to water flowing to the evaporation container. This noise is normal during defrosting.

Air blowing noise: During normal operation of the system due to the circulation of air and the operation of the circulation fan.

Especially during summer (warm seasons), the surfaces in contact with the door joint may become warmer during the operation of the compressor. This is normal.

Check if:

• All food is packed properly. Containers must be dry before being placed in the appliance.

• The appliance door is opened frequently. Humidity of the room enters the appliance when the doors are opened. Humidity increases faster when the doors are opened more frequently, especially if the humidity of the room is high.

Check if:

• There is food or packaging preventing the door from closing.

• The door joints are broken or torn.

• Your appliance is on a level surface.

• The decor door is correctly fitted.

• Install the appliance in a cool, well-ventilated room, but not in direct sunlight and not near a heat source (such as a radiator or oven); otherwise, an insulating plate should be used.

• Allow warm food and drinks to cool before placing them inside the appliance.

• Place thawing food in the refrigerator compartment if available. The low temperature of the frozen food will help cool the refrigerator compartment while the food is thawing. This will save energy. Frozen food left to thaw outside of the appliance will result in a waste of energy.

• Drinks or other liquids should be covered when inside the appliance. If left uncovered, the humidity inside the appliance will increase, therefore the appliance uses more energy. Keeping drinks and other liquids covered helps preserve their smell and taste.

• Avoid keeping the doors open for long periods and opening the doors too frequently as warm air will enter the appliance and cause the compressor to switch on unnecessarily often.

• Keep the covers of the different temperature compartments (such as the crisper) closed.

• The door gasket must be clean and pliable. In case of wear, replace the gasket.
