What is the purpose of the MGC MIX-4042 Analog Interface module?

The MGC MIX-4042 Analog Interface module is designed to operate with a listed compatible intelligent fire system control panel. It can be configured to work with conventional two-wire or 4-20mA devices. The module monitors the current used by the connected devices and reports alarms and troubles accordingly.

What precautions must be taken before installing the MGC MIX-4042?

You must disconnect power from the system before installing the MGC MIX-4042 module. If the unit is being installed in a system that is currently operational, it is necessary to inform the operator and the local authority that the system will be temporarily out of service.

How do I mount the MGC MIX-4042 module?

The MGC MIX-4042 module is intended to be mounted in a standard 4″ square back-box. The box must have a minimum depth of 2 1/8 inches. Surface mounted electrical boxes (BB-400) are also available.

What are the steps for wiring and installing the MGC MIX-4042?

Note: This device should be installed as per applicable requirements of the authorities having jurisdiction and connected to power-limited circuits only.

1. Install the module wiring as indicated by the job drawings and appropriate wiring diagrams.

2. Use the MIX-4090 programmer tool to set the address on the module as indicated on the job drawings.

3. Mount the module in the electrical box.

Note: Any external power source used shall be Listed for use in a fire alarm system and must have ground fault detection capability.

How is the operational mode of the MGC MIX-4042 configured?

The operational mode of the MGC MIX-4042 is set through the panel configuration tool. This tool also allows for setting other parameters, such as the reset time for conventional devices or alarm levels for 4-20mA operation.

How does the MGC MIX-4042 handle Class A and Class B wiring for conventional devices?

When set for conventional devices, the MGC MIX-4042 module will automatically handle Class A or Class B lines. The module has an internal EOL (End-of-Line) resistor for Class A lines. For Class B wiring, an MP-300 end-of-line resistor must be used.

What does the LED indicator on the MGC MIX-4042 signify?

The module has a panel-controlled LED indicator. It will blink during normal standby operation and will be steady ON when the device has detected an off-normal condition.

What information is needed when using the MGC MIX-4042 with alarm verification?

When using the MGC MIX-4042 as a conventional Zone module with alarm verification, the FACP panel door label must be completed with the relevant delay information. The Control Unit Alarm Delay is 25 seconds for the MGC MIX-4042. The specific delay for smoke detectors can be found in the installation instructions supplied with those devices. You must enter the detector data in the following table on the FACP panel door label:

Circuit (Zone)
(MIX-4042 Zone #)
Control Unit Delay
