What are the three basic modes the MAMIYA 645 AFD goes through when taking a digital image?

There are three basic modes the MAMIYA 645 AFD cycles through:

1. Normal or pre-capture mode: The camera acts as if a film magazine is attached before the shutter is released.

2. Capture mode: This occurs after the shutter release button is pressed, during which the camera acts differently to communicate with the digital back.

3. After Capture mode: This is the final mode where specific indicators appear regarding the image status.

What information is displayed on the MAMIYA 645 AFD during the Normal or pre-capture mode?

In the Normal or pre-capture mode, before the shutter is released, the MAMIYA 645 AFD virtually acts as if there were a film magazine attached. The internal and external LCD displays will show shutter speeds and apertures.

What does the “CaP db” indicator mean on the MAMIYA 645 AFD?

The “CaP db” indicator appears in Capture mode after the shutter has been released. It signifies that the digital back is in the process of capturing an image. This indicator remains displayed until the digital capture is complete.

What does the “Db-E” display indicate on the MAMIYA 645 AFD?

“Db-E” indicates a digital back exposure warning. It appears in the Manual and X exposure modes when the exposure setting on the camera does not agree with the exposure determined by the meter. A numeric value (e.g., +1.3) will also display to show the difference in stops between the two readings. When this appears, it will blink for three seconds and can be cancelled by pressing any button.

What does it mean when the MAMIYA 645 AFD displays “Stor” followed by a number?

This indicator appears in the After Capture mode. It confirms that the digital back is storing an image. “Stor” followed by a number (e.g., Stor 88) shows the remaining frames left in the digital back’s memory. This numeric display appears when the frames-to-go count is less than 100. It blinks for 3 seconds and can be cancelled by pressing any button.

How does the MAMIYA 645 AFD indicate that the digital back storage capacity has been reached?

If the storage capacity is reached, the “Stor db” indicator may appear before the shutter has been released (Normal mode). If you press the shutter release button at this time, a “-no- db” indication will blink for 3 seconds.

What indicator appears on the MAMIYA 645 AFD when the digital back battery is exhausted?

When the digital back battery is exhausted, the “batt db” indication will appear. If the shutter release is pressed while this is displayed, the “-no- db” indication will display and blink for 3 seconds.

What does the “buSY db” indicator signify on the MAMIYA 645 AFD?

The “buSY db” indicator displays when the digital back or host computer is busy. If the shutter release is pressed during this time, the “-no- db” indication will appear and blink for 3 seconds.

What does the “-no- db” display mean on the MAMIYA 645 AFD?

The “-no- db” display appears when the shutter release is pressed if the digital back is connected to the MAMIYA 645 AFD but the connection to the host computer is not installed. It also appears and blinks for 3 seconds if the shutter is pressed while the digital back is busy, the battery is exhausted, or the storage capacity is reached.
