- IPv4 mask length – Enter the mask length of the IPv4 address used by the tunnel supplied by your ISP.

Why would you change the security settings of your firewall?
By default, the firewall settings in your router have been optimized for most home environments, so no changes are needed. The Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall is enabled by default. In addition, anonymous requests from the Internet and IDENT requests are blocked by default. All web filters are disabled, because enabling them can cause problems on sites using ActiveX, Java or cookies.

How do you change the VPN tunneling settings?

- IPSec Passthrough – Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) is a set of protocols used to establish secure exchange of packets at the IP layer. VPN clients on the local network can establish an IPSec VPN tunnel through the router. This option is enabled by default.
- PPTP Passthrough – Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) is a common protocol used for creating VPN tunnels. VPN clients on the local network can establish PPTP VPN tunnels through the router. This option is enabled by default.
How do you configure media prioritization?
- Open Linksys Smart Wi-Fi.
- In Apps, click on Media Prioritization. The Media Prioritization screen is displayed.
- Enable Prioritization if it is not already enabled.
- Select the priority devices in the Normal Priority list, then drag and drop them into the High Priority list.
- To prioritize an application or a game, select its name from the drop-down list, then drag and drop the icon near the name to the High Priority list.
- If the application name is not in the list, click on Edit and add the name. Tip: If you want to add a new application or game, you need to know the ports and protocols used.
- Click on Settings. The Settings screen is displayed. The priority settings are applied only to traffic going to the Internet. The router is not able to control the quality of the traffic after it has been transmitted to the Internet. - Turn off DHCP Server (usually found under the network or LAN settings).
- Make sure that your old router’s wireless settings are the same as the wireless settings of your new router: Wireless network name, wireless password and security mode.
- Select a wireless channel that does not conflict with a channel that has already been selected. In the 2.4 GHz wireless frequency spectrum, there are only three non-overlapping channels: 1, 6 and 11. Choose a channel that does not overlap the channel used by your new router. For example, if your new router uses channel 11, configure your old router to use channel 1 or channel 6.
Why would you want to use your router behind an existing router?
- You are adding devices to your home network and the original router does not have enough ports.
- You are adding a wireless network in addition to the wired network connected to the original router.
- You want to have different settings (for example parental controls) on your new network.
- You want to separate older and more vulnerable network devices from the rest of the network.
