To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury when using your LG WT6001HVA, follow these basic precautions:

• Use this appliance only for its intended purpose as described in this owner’s Manual.

• Before use, the washer must be properly installed as described in this manual.

• Do not wash articles that have been previously cleaned in, washed in, soaked in, or spotted with gasoline, dry cleaning solvents, or other flammable or explosive substances, as they give off vapors that could ignite or explode.

• Do not add gasoline, dry cleaning solvents, or other flammable or explosive substances to the wash water. These substances give off vapors that could ignite or explode.

• Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be produced in a hot water system that has not been used for 2 weeks or more. HYDROGEN GAS IS EXPLOSIVE. If the hot water system has not been used for such a period, before using the washer, turn on all hot water faucets and let the water flow from each for several minutes. This will release any accumulated hydrogen gas. As the gas is flammable, do not smoke or use an open flame during this time.

• Do not allow children to play on or in the washer. Close supervision of children is necessary when the washer is used near children.

• Before the washer is removed from service or discarded, remove the lid to prevent children from climbing inside.

• Do not install or store the washer where it will be exposed to the weather or freezing temperatures.

• Do not tamper with controls.

• Keep the area underneath and around your appliances free of combustible materials (lint, paper, rags, etc.), gasoline, chemicals and other flammable vapors and liquids.

• Do not repair or replace any part of the washer or attempt any servicing other than as described in this manual. It is strongly recommended that any service be performed by a qualified technician.

• See Installation Instructions for grounding requirements.

• ALWAYS follow the fabric care instructions supplied by the garment manufacturer.

• Do not place items exposed to cooking oil in your washer. Items contaminated with cooking oils may contribute to a chemical reaction that could cause a load to catch fire.

• Use fabric softeners or products to eliminate static only as recommended by the manufacturer.

• This washer is not designed for maritime use or for mobile installations such as in RVs, aircraft, etc.

• Turn off the water faucets and unplug the washer if the machine is to be left for an extended period of time, such as during vacations.

• Do not use to dry articles containing foam rubber or similarly textured rubber-like materials.

• Packaging material can be dangerous for children. There is a risk of suffocation! Keep all packaging from children.

• Always check the inside of the washer for foreign objects before loading laundry. Keep the lid closed when not in use.

• Do not reach into the appliance if the tub or agitator is moving.

The LG WT6001HVA washing machine includes several key features to enhance your laundry experience:

• INVERTER DIRECT-DRIVE MOTOR: The inverter motor is directly connected to the tub, which minimizes energy loss and produces little noise and vibration.

• Smart ThinQ: This feature provides smart capabilities for your appliance.

– SMART DIAGNOSIS™: Transmits data by phone to the Customer Information Center to diagnose technical difficulties.

– Smart Access: Monitor your cycle operation and know the remaining time. You can also shut the machine off remotely.

– Smart Adapt: Download new and special cycles that are not included with the machine.

– Smart Grid: Smart appliances can communicate with local utility companies equipped with Smart Grid technology.

– Smart Message: Receive push notifications on your smartphone when a cycle is complete or if the appliance has problems.

• TUB CLEAN: Regular monthly cleaning of the tub using the TUB CLEAN cycle will keep it clean and fresh.

• CHILD LOCK: Disables the controls during a wash cycle to prevent children from changing cycles or operating the machine.

• SMARTRINSE™ WITH JET SPRAY: This washer is designed to save rinse water by using a jet spray in COTTON/NORMAL and HEAVY DUTY cycles.

• FULL STAINLESS STEEL DRUM: The full stainless steel drum offers extreme durability.

The control panel of the LG WT6001HVA features a touch screen for easy operation:

• POWER (ON/OFF) BUTTON: Touch to turn the washer ON or OFF. Touching this button during a cycle will cancel it, and all wash settings will be lost. The lid will unlock after a brief pause.

• CYCLES: The CYCLE screens display cycle names and icons. The default cycle is Cotton/Normal. Touch the left or right arrows, or swipe the screen, to scroll through the available cycles. There are four screens displaying up to six cycles at a time. Saved custom cycles appear on the Custom Cycle screen.

• START/PAUSE BUTTON: Touch this button to start the selected cycle. If the washer is running, use this button to pause the cycle without losing current settings. If you touch this button without selecting a cycle, the default Cotton/Normal cycle will run immediately.

• MENU OPTION BUTTONS: These buttons (Smart ThinQ, Recent Cycle, Guide) take you to special feature and settings screens.

• STATUS ICONS: These icons display the status of various systems and features.

The main display screen provides the following information and controls:

• SELECTED CYCLE: Shows the icon and name of the selected cycle.

• EST. TIME REMAINING: Displays the estimated time remaining in the cycle, including any Delay Wash time. This time may change if settings are modified or options are added.

• DELAY WASH: Touch the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to add or decrease time for the Delay Wash feature.

• SAVE CYCLE: After modifying cycle settings, you can save it as a custom cycle to be added to the cycle screens.

• CYCLE OPTIONS: Allows you to add available options to the cycle. Not all options are available with every cycle. Unavailable options will be dimmed.

• CYCLE SETTINGS: Use the arrow keys to adjust the default Soil Level, Wash/Rinse temperature, or Spin Speed of the cycle. A bar to the left of each indicator shows the number of available adjustments.

• BACK BUTTON: Touch this button to return to the previous screen.

Follow these steps for basic operation of your LG WT6001HVA:

1. SORT LAUNDRY AND LOAD WASHER: Sort laundry by fabric type, soil level, color, and load size. Open the lid and load the items into the washer.

2. ADD CLEANING PRODUCT: Add High-Efficiency (HE) detergent to the detergent dispenser.

3. TURN ON THE WASHER: Touch the POWER button to turn the washer ON. The LG startup screen will display, followed by the cycle screen.

4. SELECT A CYCLE: Scroll through the cycle screens by touching the arrow buttons or swiping the screen, and select your desired cycle. Touch a cycle button to view its preset settings.

5. ADJUST CYCLE SETTINGS AND SELECT OPTIONS: Change the default settings for the selected cycle if desired, using the cycle settings and option buttons. Note that not all modifiers and options are available on all cycles.

6. BEGIN CYCLE: Touch the START/PAUSE button. The lid will lock, and the washer will agitate briefly without water to measure the load weight.

7. ADD A GARMENT (if needed): The ADD A GARMENT light will appear in the Time & Status display near the beginning of the wash cycle. If you need to add an item, touch START/PAUSE to pause the cycle, add the garment, and press START/PAUSE again to resume.

8. END OF CYCLE: When the cycle is finished, a chime will sound. Immediately remove your clothing to reduce wrinkling.

When you select a cycle on your LG WT6001HVA, the default settings are displayed. You can adjust them for your specific needs using the up and down arrows on the screen for each setting:

• SOIL LEVEL: Adjusting the soil level setting will modify the cycle times and/or wash actions. For heavily soiled items, increase the soil level to Heavy to maximize cleaning performance.

• WASH RINSE: This adjusts the wash and rinse temperature combination. Select the water temperature suitable for your load, following the garment fabric care labels. The actual cold rinse temperature depends on the cold water temperature at your faucet.

• SPIN SPEED: Higher spin speeds extract more water, reducing drying time and saving energy. Lower spin speeds reduce wrinkling. Use the up and down arrows to select the desired speed. Note that not all spin speeds are available for all cycles to protect your clothing.

• SAVE CYCLE: After modifying a cycle’s settings, you can touch the Save Cycle button to save it as a custom cycle. This adds it to the Custom Cycle screen for future use. Touching the button more than once will save the cycle multiple times.

The LG WT6001HVA offers several options to customize wash cycles:

• SOAK: Provides a 15-180 minute presoak before the selected cycle begins. Use this option for garments with difficult spots or stains.

• STAIN CARE™: For heavily soiled loads needing improved stain treatment. The cycle begins with warm water to prevent stain setting, then gradually adds hot water to increase the temperature for better stain removal. Best results are with small loads (less than 6 lbs).

• COLD WASH™: Saves energy by using cooler water while increasing wash and rinse times to maintain performance. Not available with Sanitary, Bright White, Tub Clean, and Rinse & Spin cycles, or with Stain Care.

• EXTRA RINSE: Adds one or two extra rinses to the cycle to help ensure removal of detergent or bleach residue.

• WATER PLUS: Adds extra water to the wash and rinse cycles, useful for extra large or bulky items. To use, pause the cycle after it has filled, touch Change Settings, select Water Plus, and resume the cycle.

• FABRIC SOFTENER: This option changes the final rinse in COTTON/NORMAL and HEAVY DUTY cycles from a water-saving jet spray rinse to a regular rinse to improve fabric softener performance.

• CUSTOM CYCLE: Allows you to store up to five customized cycles with your favorite temperature, spin speed, soil level, and other options for easy recall.

• DELAY WASH: Delays the start of the wash cycle for up to 19 hours. Select your cycle, then touch this button to set the delay time, and press START/PAUSE to begin the countdown.

The Time & Status screen is displayed whenever the LG WT6001HVA is running a cycle and provides the following information:

A. CYCLE STATUS/ADD A GARMENT: Displays the current stage of the wash cycle (e.g., Washing). “ADD A GARMENT” will be displayed during the early stage of the cycle, indicating that it is safe to pause the cycle to add more items.

B. ESTIMATED TIME REMAINING: After the cycle starts, the washer displays the estimated time remaining. Each stage has its own screen animation.

C. CHILD LOCK: This option disables the controls to prevent children from changing cycles or operating the machine. It can only be locked during a cycle. Touch and hold the Child Lock button for three seconds to lock or unlock the controls.

D. OPERATING CYCLE/CHANGE SETTINGS: Displays the icon of the running cycle. If the cycle is paused, “Change Settings” will appear, allowing you to touch it and modify settings during the wash.

E. CANCEL: This button appears when a cycle is paused, allowing you to cancel the wash cycle.

To use the Smart ThinQ features, you must first connect the appliance to a Wi-Fi network and register it. The Smart ThinQ screen provides access to several features:

• Smart Grid: Allows the washer to communicate with local utility companies (if equipped) to adjust operating times based on peak electricity demands, helping to reduce energy consumption.

• SMART DIAGNOSIS™: Helps troubleshoot problems by transmitting data via your telephone to an LG Specialist or directly to your smartphone using the LG Smart Laundry Application.

• Smart Adapt: Allows you to download new and special cycles that are not included with the machine. If new software is available, a popup will give you the option to download it.

• Smart Manager: Provides useful information on how to care for your laundry and appliance via the smartphone app.

• Smart Access: Allows you to monitor the washer’s operation and turn it off remotely using your smartphone.

Regular maintenance will keep your LG WT6001HVA performing at its best.

Cleaning the Water Inlet Filters:

1. Turn off both water taps completely.

2. Unscrew the hot and cold water lines from the back of the washer.

3. Carefully remove the filters from the water inlets.

4. Soak them in white vinegar or a lime scale remover, then rinse thoroughly.

5. Press the filters back into place and reattach the water lines.

Care in Cold Climates:

• If the Water Line is frozen: Turn off faucets, pour hot water on them to thaw, and immerse the water lines in hot water. Reconnect everything and run a Rinse & Spin cycle to check for proper water fill.

• If the Drain Line is frozen: Pour hot water into the washer tub, close the door, and leave it for 10 minutes. Then, select a Spin Only cycle to ensure it drains.

Caring for the LCD Display:

Wipe the surface with a dry, clean, soft cloth for light dust. For major dirt, use a soft cloth dampened in clean water or diluted mild detergent, then wipe immediately with a dry cloth. Do not use sharp objects or harsh chemicals on the screen.

Clean the Drum (TUB CLEAN):

1. Add a tub cleaner or lime scale remover to the dispenser drawer (or liquid chlorine bleach to its compartment, or cleaning tablets directly into the tub).

2. Touch the Power button.

3. Select the Tub Clean cycle.

4. Touch the START/PAUSE button. It is recommended to do this monthly.

Cleaning the Detergent Box:

1. Pull the drawer straight out until it stops, then lift up on the front to remove it.

2. Remove the inserts from the compartments and rinse the inserts and drawer with warm water.

3. Use a small, non-metal brush to clean the drawer opening recess.

4. Return the inserts to their compartments and replace the drawer.

LID OPEN ERROR (dE)	The lid is not closed properly.	• Make sure that the lid is closed properly and press the START/PAUSE button. The washer will not spin unless the lid is locked. • If you press the START button while the lid is open, dE error message will be displayed.
LID LOCK ERROR (dL)	Lid lock switch error.	• Make sure that the lid is closed properly and press the START/PAUSE button. The washer will not spin unless the lid is locked. • If the lid is closed and the lid lock error message is displayed, call for service.
OVERFILL ERROR (FE)	Water level is too high due to a faulty water valve.	Close the water taps, unplug the washer, and call for service.
CLUTCH ERROR (E6)	Clutch error.	Unplug the washer, and call for service.
OUT OF BALANCE LOAD (UE)	• The load is too small. • Heavy articles are mixed with lighter items. • The load is out of balance.	• The automatic attempt to rebalance the load was not successful. The cycle has been paused to allow the load to be manually adjusted. • Small loads may need additional items to be added. • Manually redistribute the load if articles have become tangled.
TEMPERATURE SENSOR ERROR (tE)	Thermistor error.	Unplug the washer and call for service.
WATER SENSOR ERROR (PE)	The water level sensor is not working correctly.	Close the water taps, unplug the washer, and call for service.
DRIVE MOTOR ERROR (LE)	Thermal overload protection circuit in the motor has been tripped.	Allow the washer to stand for 30 minutes to allow the motor to cool; then restart the cycle. If the LE error code still appears, unplug the washer and call for service.

The following sounds are normal during the operation of your LG WT6001HVA:

• Clicking: The lid lock relay clicks when the lid locks and unlocks. The washer also makes a series of clicking noises as it changes cleaning modes.

• High pitched noise: The wash basket spins faster to remove moisture from the load.

• Spraying or hissing: Water spraying or circulating during the cycle.

• Humming or gurgling: The drain pump is pumping water from the washer at the end of a cycle.

• Water sloshing sound: A liquid in the balance ring around the wash basket helps it spin smoothly.

• Sound of water being added after the washer has already been operating: This can happen if the washer adapts to the load size, or if it senses an unbalanced load and needs to stop and refill to redistribute it.

Before calling for service, check these common issues:

Problem	Possible Causes	Solutions
Rattling and clanking noise	Foreign objects, such as keys, coins, or safety pins, may be in drum or pump.	Stop washer and check drum for foreign objects. If noise continues after the washer is restarted, call for service.
Thumping sound	• Heavy wash loads may produce a thumping sound. • Washer load may be out of balance.	• This is normal. If sound continues, the washer is probably out of balance. Stop and redistribute the wash load. • Stop and redistribute the wash load.
Vibrating noise	• Wash load may be unevenly distributed. • Not all leveling feet are resting firmly on the floor. • Floor not rigid enough.	• Stop washer and rearrange the wash load. • Adjust the leveling feet. Make sure all four feet are in firm contact with the floor. • Make sure that the floor is solid and does not flex.
Water leaking around washer	• Fill hose connection is loose. • House drain pipes are clogged. • Large items such as pillow and blanket over the tub.	• Check and tighten hose connections. • Unclog drain pipe. Contact a plumber if necessary. • Stop washer and check the load position. Use BULKY/BEDDING cycle for large items.
Excessive sudsing	Too much detergent or incorrect detergent.	Reduce detergent amount or use low-sudsing detergent. Only use detergent with the HE (High-Efficiency) logo.
Washer won’t operate	• Control panel is asleep. • Washer is unplugged. • Water supply is turned off. • Lid is open.	• This is normal. Press POWER. • Make sure cord is plugged securely. • Turn both hot and cold faucets fully on. • Close lid and reset cycle.
Washer not filling properly	• Filter clogged or fill hoses may be kinked. • Insufficient water supply. • The washer lid is open.	• Make sure that filters on the unit are not clogged. • Make sure that the water supply is turned on. • The washer lid must be closed for all washer cycle operations.
Incomplete or no dispensing of detergent	• Detergent compartments clogged. • Too much detergent use. • Insufficient water supply.	• Make sure that detergent and additives are put into the correct dispenser compartments. • Make sure that the suggested amount of detergent is used. • Make sure that the water supply is turned on.
Wrinkling	• Washer not unloaded promptly. • Washer overloaded. • Hot and cold water inlet hoses are reversed.	• Always remove items from the washer as soon as the cycle is completed. • The washer can be fully loaded, but the drum should not be tightly packed. • Hot water rinse can set wrinkles in garments. Check the inlet hose connections.

The SMART DIAGNOSIS™ system can help troubleshoot issues with your washer. The washer must be turned on by touching the POWER button to activate this feature.

Audible Diagnosis Using Your Smart Phone:

1. Download the LG Smart Laundry application on your smart phone.

2. Open the application and press the right arrow button to advance.

3. Press the RECORD button on the smart phone and hold the mouthpiece of the phone near the SMART DIAGNOSIS™ logo on the washer’s control panel.

4. Press the SMART DIAGNOSIS™ button on the washer’s display screen.

5. Keep the phone in place until the tone transmission has finished (about 17 seconds, the display will count down).

6. When the recording is complete, view the diagnosis by pressing the Next button on the phone.

Wi-Fi Diagnosis Through the Call Center:

1. Make sure your appliance is connected to Wi-Fi (check for the Wi-Fi icon on the display).

2. Touch the Smart ThinQ button on the lower part of the screen.

3. Touch the Smart Diagnosis button.

4. Touch the Wi-Fi Diagnosis button.

5. Touch the Start button, and then call the LG call center.

6. The call center agent will be able to further assist you with the diagnosis.
