The power cord of your LG LW1024RSMX may include a current interrupter device with TEST and RESET buttons. This device should be tested periodically by first pressing the TEST button and then the RESET button. If the TEST button does not trip or if the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.

WARNING:

• The LG LW1024RSMX should be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code.

• Do not use an extension cord, surge protectors, or multi-outlet adapters with this window air conditioner.

• Never push the TEST button during operation as it can damage the plug.

• Do not remove, modify, or immerse the plug. If the device trips, the cause should be corrected before further use.

You will need the following tools for installation:

• Phillips-head screwdriver

• Adjustable wrench

• Level

• Gloves

• Tape measure

• Scissors or Cutting knife

• Pencil

The LG LW1024RSMX is designed for installation in standard double-hung windows with the following specifications:

• Actual opening widths from 22″ to 36″.

• The top and bottom window sashes must open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 13″ from the bottom of the upper sash to the inside sill.

Note: All supporting parts should be secured to firm wood, masonry, vinyl, fiberglass, or metal. This product is a window air conditioner and requires a standard single-hung or double-hung window for proper installation. Non-window installations, like using sleeves or wall openings, are not recommended.

A storm window frame may prevent the air conditioner from tilting correctly for drainage. Follow these steps to accommodate a storm window:

Step 1. Attach a 1″ x 2″ piece of wood to the inner sill. Trim the wood to a length that fits inside the window frame. The top of this wood shim must be at least 3/4″ higher than the top of the storm window frame. Securely attach the wood to the sill with nails or screws.

Step 2. If necessary, attach another 1″ x 2″ wood strip flush against the back of the inner sill. This will raise the L bracket for proper placement.

Step 1. Align the holes between the upper guide and the top of the cabinet. Install it with 3 type A screws.

Step 2. Insert the top and bottom rails of the curtain panels into the upper and lower panel guides. Fasten the curtain panels to the unit with 8 type A screws. Fasten screws behind the curtain panel. A long screwdriver can make this easier.

Step 3. Cut the window sash seals to the proper length. Peel off the backing and attach the adhesive-backed foam to the underside of the window sash and the bottom of the window frame.

Step 4. Open the window and draw a center line on the center of the inner sill. Then mark lines 8″ to the left and right of the center line.

Step 5. Install the L bracket behind the inner window sill as shown, using the 2 type A screws provided. The bracket helps hold the unit securely. Ensure the bracket edge is flush against the back of the inner sill.

Follow these steps to install the air conditioner unit:

CAUTION: During the following steps, hold the unit firmly until the window sash is lowered to the top channel behind the side panel frames to prevent personal injury or property damage if the unit falls.

Step 1. Center the air conditioner in the window. Place the unit so that the front edge of the bottom guide is against the back edge of the sill. Bring the window down so that the front edge of the upper guide is in front of the window. Make sure the air conditioner is level or tilting slightly (about 1/4″) to the outside for proper drainage.

Step 2. Extend the guide panels to fill the window opening and use 4 type B screws to secure them to the window.

Step 3. Cut the non-adhesive foam strip to the proper length and insert it between the upper window sash and the lower window sash to create a seal.

Step 4. To prevent broken glass or damage to vinyl or other similarly constructed windows, attach the L bracket to the window frame with a type A screw.

Step 5. Remove the screw from the bottom right of the cabinet. Attach the support bracket using the screw you just removed. Secure the support bracket to the inner window sill using a type B screw.

You can operate your LG LW1024RSMX using the buttons on the control panel or the included remote control. Note that the control panel has a protective film that should be removed before use.

• Power: Press to turn the air conditioner ON or OFF.

• Mode: Press to cycle between 4 operation modes: Energy Saver, Cool, Dry, and Fan.

• Temp ▲/▼: Press the up or down arrows to increase or decrease the temperature setting. The thermostat can be set between 60 °F–86 °F (16 °C–30 °C).

• Fan Speed: Press to set the fan speed to Low (F1), Medium (F2), or High (F3).

• Timer: Use this to set a Delay ON or Delay OFF timer from 1 to 24 hours. Each press of the Timer button advances the timer by 1 hour.

The LG LW1024RSMX has four operation modes:

• Energy Saver: In this mode, the compressor and fan turn off when the set temperature is achieved. Approximately every 3 minutes, the fan turns on to allow the unit’s sensor to determine if more cooling is needed. This is the default mode when the unit is switched on (except in Fan mode).

• Cool: This mode is ideal for hot days to cool and dehumidify the room quickly. Use the Temp buttons to set the desired room temperature and the Fan Speed button to set the fan circulation speed.

• Dry: This mode is ideal for rainy and damp days to dehumidify the room. The fan speed is fixed at Low in this mode and cannot be adjusted. The compressor and fan turn off once the set temperature is reached.

• Fan: In this mode, the fan circulates air but the compressor does not run. Use the Fan Speed button to set the fan speed. You cannot adjust the set temperature in this mode.

The Delay Timer allows you to schedule when the air conditioner turns on or off.

• Delay ON: When the air conditioner is off, you can set it to automatically turn on from 1 to 24 hours later. It will start in its previous mode and fan settings.

• Delay OFF: When the air conditioner is on, you can set it to automatically turn off from 1 to 24 hours later.

Each press of the Timer button advances the timer by 1 hour. After the last press, the display returns to the temperature setting.

The “Clean Filter” LED is a reminder that the air filter needs to be cleaned for more efficient operation. The LED light turns on after 250 hours of operation.

After cleaning the filter, you can turn off the light by:

• Pressing the Temp ▲ and ▼ buttons together on the control panel.

OR

• Pressing and holding the Temp ▲ button on the remote control for 3 seconds.

Using the Light Off Function:

You can set the brightness of the control panel display. Press and hold the Timer button on the remote control for 3 seconds to turn the display lights on or off. If the display is set to OFF, pressing any button on the remote will turn the display on for 5 seconds.

Using the Mute Function:

You can turn the unit’s buzzer sound (beep) on or off. Press and hold the Mode button on the remote control for 3 seconds to mute or unmute the unit.

Step 1. Push out the cover on the back of the remote control with your thumb.

Step 2. Insert two new AAA 1.5V batteries, ensuring the plus (+) and minus (-) poles are facing as marked.

Step 3. Reattach the cover.

NOTE: Do not use rechargeable batteries. To prevent discharge, remove the batteries if the air conditioner will not be used for an extended period.

You can adjust the airflow direction using the unit’s louvers.

• Adjusting Horizontal Airflow: Move the levers of the vertical louvers to the left or right to direct the airflow horizontally.

• Adjusting Vertical Airflow: Touch the horizontal louvers to adjust the airflow up or down.

Your LG LW1024RSMX air conditioner is equipped with a slinger fan. If the condensed water level in the base pan gets high enough, the fan’s outer ring picks up the water. This water is then expelled through the condenser, which helps to cool the unit and makes the air conditioner more efficient. This may cause a “pinging” or “swishing” sound, which is normal.

The LG ThinQ application, available on models with the ThinQ logo, allows you to communicate with and control your LG LW1024RSMX using a smartphone. Its features include:

• Remote Communication: Operate your air conditioner from a smartphone using convenient smart features.

• Smart Diagnosis™: If you experience a problem with the appliance, this feature can help you diagnose the issue by transmitting data to your smartphone.

• Settings: Allows you to set various options on the appliance and in the application.

• Demand Response Function: This feature can lower energy usage based on signals from your utility company during peak usage periods.

Step 1. Check the distance between the appliance and your wireless router (Wi-Fi network). If the distance is too far, the signal strength will be weak, and registration or installation may fail.

Step 2. Turn off the Mobile Data or Cellular Data on your smartphone.

Step 3. Connect your smartphone to the wireless router.

NOTE:

• The appliance only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

• To verify the Wi-Fi connection, check that the Wi-Fi LED on the control panel is lit.

Check and clean the air filter at least twice a month. Before cleaning, disconnect the power supply and wait for the fan to stop.

Step 1. Remove the air filter from the front grille by pulling the filter forward and then up slightly.

Step 2. Wash the filter using lukewarm water below 104 °F (40 °C).

Step 3. Gently shake the excess water from the filter and allow it to dry completely before replacing it.

• Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the air inlet and outlet.

• Wipe the front grille and inlet grille with a cloth dampened in a mild detergent solution.

• Wash the cabinet with mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water, then polish using liquid appliance wax.

NOTE: To ensure continued peak efficiency, the condenser coils (outside of the unit) should be checked periodically and cleaned if they are clogged with soot or dirt from the outside air. For repair and maintenance of internal parts, contact an Authorized Service Center.

You may hear the following sounds during normal operation:

1. High Pitched Chatter: Today’s high-efficiency compressors may have a high-pitched chatter during the cooling cycle.

2. Sound of Rushing Air: At the front of the unit, you may hear the sound of rushing air being moved by the fan.

3. Gurgle/Hiss: Gurgling or hissing noise may be heard due to refrigerant passing through the evaporator.

4. Vibration: The unit may vibrate and make noise because of poor wall or window construction or incorrect installation.

5. Pinging or Swishing: Droplets of water hitting the condenser (part of the slinger fan system) during normal operation may cause pinging or swishing sounds.

If your LG LW1024RSMX does not start, check the following possible causes:

• The air conditioner is unplugged. Make sure the plug is pushed completely into the outlet.

• The fuse is blown/circuit breaker is tripped. Check the house fuse/circuit breaker box and replace the fuse or reset the breaker.

• Power failure. If a power failure occurs, turn the mode control to off. When power is restored, wait 3 minutes before restarting the air conditioner to prevent tripping the compressor overload.

• The current interrupter device is tripped. Press the RESET button on the power cord plug. If the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use and contact a qualified service technician.

If your LG LW1024RSMX isn’t cooling properly, consider these solutions:

• Airflow is restricted. Make sure there are no curtains, blinds, or furniture blocking the front of the air conditioner.

• The temperature control is not set correctly. Set the desired temperature to a level lower than the current room temperature.

• The air filter is dirty. Clean the filter at least every 2 weeks. Refer to the ‘MAINTENANCE’ section.

• The room may have been hot. When the air conditioner is first turned on, allow time for the room to cool down.

• Cold air is escaping. Check for open furnace floor registers and cold air returns.

• Cooling coils have iced up. See the troubleshooting tip for “Air conditioner freezing up”.

Ice may block the air flow and obstruct the air conditioner from properly cooling the room. To resolve this, set the mode control to High Fan or High Cool to melt the ice.

It is normal for water to drip outside during hot, humid weather as the unit removes moisture from the air.

This is likely because the air conditioner is not tilted to the outside. For proper water disposal, make sure the air conditioner slants slightly from the cabinet front to the rear.

The unit removes moisture from the air, which then drains into the base pan. This is normal for a short period in areas with little humidity and for a longer period in very humid areas.

Rapid cycling can be caused by the following:

• Dirty air filter – air restricted. Clean the air filter.

• Outside temperature extremely hot. This can cause the unit to cycle more frequently. Refer to installation instructions or check with your installer to ensure proper setup for your climate.

Noise during cooling can have several causes:

• Air movement sound. This is normal. If the sound is too loud, set the unit to a lower FAN setting.

• Window vibration – poor installation. The unit may be causing the window to vibrate. Refer to the installation instructions or check with your installer to ensure the unit is secure.

If the room gets too cold, the set temperature may be too low. Increase the set temperature on the control panel or remote.

If you are having trouble connecting your LG LW1024RSMX to Wi-Fi, check these common issues:

• The Wi-Fi router is too far from the air conditioner. Move the router closer to the air conditioner or purchase and install a Wi-Fi repeater (signal booster).

• You do not have permission to use the router or it is incompatible. Make sure you are selecting the correct wireless router from the list. The router must be set to 2.4 GHz.

• The password for the Wi-Fi network is incorrect. Find the Wi-Fi network on your smartphone, remove it, and then re-register your appliance on LG ThinQ.

• Mobile data for your smartphone is turned on. Turn off the Mobile data on your smartphone and register the appliance using the Wi-Fi network.

• The wireless network name (SSID) is set incorrectly. The SSID should be a combination of English letters and numbers. Special characters are not supported.

• The router frequency is not 2.4 GHz. Only a 2.4 GHz router frequency is supported. Set your router to 2.4 GHz. Check with your Internet service provider or router manufacturer if you are unsure.
