Here are some tips to help you minimize power consumption when you use the LG AUUW486D2 air conditioner:

• Do not cool excessively indoors. This may be harmful for your health and may consume more electricity.

• Block sunlight with blinds or curtains while you are operating the air conditioner.

• Keep doors or windows closed tightly while you are operating the air conditioner.

• Adjust the direction of the air flow vertically or horizontally to circulate indoor air.

• Speed up the fan to cool or warm indoor air quickly, in a short period of time.

• Open windows regularly for ventilation as the indoor air quality may deteriorate if the air conditioner is used for many hours.

• Clean the air filter once every 2 weeks. Dust and impurities collected in the air filter may block the air flow or weaken the cooling / dehumidifying functions.

Operation Warnings:

• Do not let the air conditioner run for a long time when the humidity is very high and a door or a window is left open. Moisture may condense and wet or damage furniture.

• Take care to ensure that power cable could not be pulled out or damaged during operation. There is risk of fire or electric shock.

• Do not place anything on the power cable. There is risk of fire or electric shock.

• Do not plug or unplug the power supply plug during operation. There is risk of fire or electric shock.

• Do not touch (operate) the product with wet hands. There is risk of fire or electrical shock.

• Do not use the product in a tightly closed space for a long time. Oxygen deficiency could occur.

• When flammable gas leaks, turn off the gas and open a window for ventilation before turning the product on. Do not use the telephone or turn switches on or off. There is risk of explosion or fire.

• Be cautious that water should not enter the product. There is risk of fire, electric shock, or product damage.

• Ventilate the product from time to time when operating it together with a stove, etc. There is risk of fire or electric shock.

• Turn the main power off when cleaning or maintaining the product. There is risk of electric shock.

• When the product is not to be used for a long time, disconnect the power supply plug or turn off the breaker. There is risk of product damage or failure, or unintended operation.

• Take care to ensure that nobody should step on or fall onto the outdoor unit. This could result in personal injury and product damage.

Following these cautions can prevent minor injury or product damage.

Installation Cautions:

• Always check for gas (refrigerant) leakage after installation or repair of product. Low refrigerant levels may cause failure of product.

• Install the drain hose to ensure that water is drained away properly. A bad connection may cause water leakage.

• Keep level even when installing the product. To avoid vibration or water leakage.

• Do not install the product where the noise or hot air from the outdoor unit could damage the neighborhoods. It may cause a problem for your neighbors.

• Use two or more people to lift and transport the product. Avoid personal injury.

• Do not install the product where it will be exposed to sea wind (salt spray) directly. It may cause corrosion on the product. Corrosion, particularly on the condenser and evaporator fins, could cause product malfunction or inefficient operation.

Operation Cautions:

• Do not expose the skin directly to cool air for long periods of time. (Don’t sit in the draft.) This could harm to your health.

• Do not use the product for special purposes, such as preserving foods, works of art, etc. It is a consumer air conditioner, not a precision refrigeration system. There is risk of damage or loss of property.

• Do not block the inlet or outlet of air flow. It may cause product failure.

• Use a soft cloth to clean. Do not use harsh detergents, solvents, etc. There is risk of fire, electric shock, or damage to the plastic parts of the product.

• Do not touch the metal parts of the product when removing the air filter. They are very sharp! There is risk of personal injury.

• Do not step on or put anything on the product (outdoor units). There is risk of personal injury and failure of product.

• Always insert the filter securely. Clean the filter every two weeks or more often if necessary. A dirty filter reduces the efficiency of the air conditioner and could cause product malfunction or damage.

• Do not insert hands or other objects through the air inlet or outlet while the product is in operation. There are sharp and moving parts that could cause personal injury.

• Do not drink the water drained from the product. It is not sanitary and could cause serious health issues.

• Use a firm stool or ladder when cleaning or maintaining the product. Be careful and avoid personal injury.

• Replace all the batteries in the remote control with new ones of the same type. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries. There is risk of fire or explosion.

• Do not recharge or disassemble the batteries. Do not dispose of batteries in the fire. They may burn or explode.

• If the liquid from the batteries gets onto your skin or clothes, wash it well with clean water. Do not use the remote if the batteries have leaked. The chemicals in batteries could cause burns or other health hazards.

• If you eat the liquid from the batteries, brush your teeth and see doctor. Do not use the remote if the batteries have leaked. The chemicals in batteries could cause burns or other health hazards.

How to mount onto a wall:

1. Use the screws to secure the holder to the wall or attach the holder to the side of the indoor unit.

2. Insert the remote control into the holder.

How to insert batteries:

1. Remove the cover from the back of the remote controller by sliding it in the direction of the arrow.

2. Insert two AAA batteries. Be sure that the (+) and (-) directions are correct and that both batteries are new.

3. Re-attach the cover by sliding it back into position.

Important Battery Information:

• Do not use rechargeable batteries as they differ from standard dry cells in shape, dimensions, and performance.

• Change the batteries with new ones if the remote control does not work properly after an extended period of use.

• When not using the remote controller for a long time, remove the batteries to prevent liquid leakage, which may cause product failure.

• When replacing batteries, replace both with new ones. If the remote controller still does not operate properly, request service.

• Do not disassemble, recharge, or dispose of used batteries in a fire, as they may explode.

Handling the remote control:

• Aim at the signal receptor on the floor standing type air conditioner when operating.

• The remote control signal can be received at a distance of up to about 7 meters.

• Be sure that there are no obstructions between the remote control and the signal receptor.

• Do not drop or throw the remote control.

• Do not place the remote control in a location exposed to direct sunlight, next to a heating unit, or other heat sources.

Handling the remote control:

• Aim at the signal receptor on the floor standing type air conditioner when operating.

• The remote control signal can be received at a distance of up to about 7 meters.

• Be sure that there are no obstructions between the remote control and the signal receptor.

• Do not drop or throw the remote control.

1. Turn on the air conditioner by pressing the Power button on the remote control.

2. Select the desired operation mode by pressing the Mode button repeatedly. The operation mode changes in the order of cooling, auto, dehumidification, heating, and air blowing. (In Cooling Only models, the heating function does not work).

What is the 3 minutes delay function? The reason cold wind is not coming out when operating the unit after turning off cooling is because of the function to protect the compressor. Cold wind will be coming out when the compressor has operated for 3 minutes.

The Auto Dry Function can be set or released using the indoor unit buttons or the remote control. When set, the evaporator in the indoor unit will be automatically dried after turning the unit off, with the display panel counting from 00 to 99 before shutting down completely.

For Setting Auto Dry Function:

• Using the indoor unit: Press the Start/Stop button and the MODE button simultaneously for 3 seconds.

• The indoor unit will respond with a beep once and indicate “SC” on its display panel. The Auto Dry function will be set.

For Releasing Auto Dry Function:

• Using the indoor unit: Press the Start/Stop button and the MODE button simultaneously for 3 seconds.

• The indoor unit will respond with a beep twice, and the Auto Dry function will be removed.

Up/Down Airflow Direction Control:

1. Press the power button to turn on the indoor unit.

2. Press the up/down swing button and the louvers will swing up and down automatically.

3. Press the button again to set the horizontal louver at the desired airflow direction.

Left/Right Airflow Direction Control:

1. Press the power button to turn on the indoor unit.

2. Press the left/right swing button and the louvers will swing left and right automatically.

3. Press the button again to set the vertical louver at the desired airflow direction.

This function can be set when the unit is in cooling or heating mode for rapid temperature change.

1. Press the power cooling/heating mode button.

• When cooling is selected as the operation mode, the power cooling operation will be activated.

• When heating is selected as the operation mode, the power heating operation will be activated.

2. When you press the power cooling/heating mode button again, the function will be turned off.

1. Turn on the air conditioner by pressing the power button on the remote control.

2. Select the desired air speed by repeatedly pressing the FAN SPD button.

• You can select the fan speed in four steps: low, mid, high, and super high. Each time the button is pressed, the fan speed mode is shifted. (Note: Air speed stages may vary depending on the model.)

• Air flow rate can be selected during the cooling, dehumidification, blowing, and auto operation modes.

Setting the Current Time:

1. Press the Timer On button for 3 seconds.

2. Press the up or down arrow buttons until the desired time is set. If you press and hold the button, the time will change more quickly in 10-minute increments.

3. Press the SET/CLEAR button.

Setting the On Timer:

1. Press the ON button to turn the timer on or off.

2. Press the up or down arrow buttons until the desired time is set. Check the indicator for A.M. and P.M.

3. Press the SET/CLEAR button.

Setting the Off Timer:

1. Press the OFF button to turn the timer on or off.

2. Press the up or down arrow buttons until the desired time is set. Check the indicator for A.M. and P.M.

3. Press the SET/CLEAR button.

Canceling the Timer Setting:

• To cancel all timer settings, press the CANCEL button.

• To cancel a specific timer setting, press the corresponding timer button (On Timer or Off Timer) to toggle it. Then press the CANCEL button while aiming the remote at the signal receptor. The timer lamp on the air conditioner and the display will go off.

During heating operation, if the outside temperature is low and humidity is high, heating capability can be reduced as frost generates on the outdoor unit. Defrost Mode removes this frost.

1. During defrost operation, a snowflake symbol will be indicated on the indoor unit’s display.

2. The indoor and outdoor unit fans will stop automatically. After the defrost operation is complete, preheating for the heating cycle will start automatically.

3. Heating operation will resume in a short time.

During defrost operation, vapor may be generated at the outdoor unit; this is normal and not a failure.

During the heating cycle, the indoor fan will not operate until the indoor tubing temperature becomes more than 22°C. This function is designed to block the discharge of cold wind into the room. Heating cannot be performed during the preheating phase.

To activate Child Lock:

1. Press the fan speed button and the high-temperature setting button on the indoor unit’s control panel simultaneously for 3 seconds.

2. During child lock operation, whenever you press any button on the display panel, it will immediately display “CL”, which means the display panel is locked. All buttons on the indoor unit display panel will not work, but the remote controller will still operate.

To deactivate Child Lock:

1. Press the low and high-temperature setting buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds again. The unit will respond with a beep, and the child lock operation will be removed.

When power is supplied again after the unit has stopped due to a power interruption, the auto re-operation function will restart the unit with its previous settings. When power is supplied, outdoor unit operation will start within 3 minutes. By default, this function is enabled.

For Releasing Re-Operation Function:

Press the on/off, fan speed, high temp, and low temp buttons (4 buttons) on the indoor unit simultaneously for 3 seconds. The unit will respond with a beep, and the re-operation function will be removed.

For Setting Re-Operation Function:

After the function has been released, press the on/off, fan speed, high temp, and low temp buttons (4 buttons) on the indoor unit simultaneously for 3 seconds. The unit will respond with a beep, and the re-operation function will be set.

Turning ON reservation mode:

This function turns the unit on after a set time.

1. When the unit is turned off, adjust the desired setting time with the ON timer button. You can set a time up to a maximum of 24 hours.

Turning OFF reservation mode:

This function turns the unit off after a set time.

1. When the unit is turned on, adjust the desired setting time with the OFF timer button. You can set a time up to a maximum of 7 hours.

After performing the setting, if the corresponding setting button is pressed once, the remaining setting time will be displayed. If it is pressed once again, the setting function will be cancelled (same as pressing the CANCEL button). The remaining time will be displayed in 1-hour increments.

Grille, Case and Remote Control:

Turn the system off before cleaning. To clean, wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use bleach or abrasives. Supply power must be disconnected before cleaning the indoor unit.

Air Filters:

The air filters behind the front grille should be checked and cleaned once every 2 weeks or more often if necessary.

1. Remove the Air filters. Take hold of the tab and pull slightly forward to remove the filter. When the air filter is to be removed, do not touch the metal parts of the indoor unit. It may cause an injury.

2. Clean dirt from the air filter using a vacuum cleaner or washing with water. If dirt is conspicuous, wash with a neutral detergent in lukewarm water. Do not use water hotter than 40°C or hot water (50°C or more), as it could cause deformation and/or discoloration.

3. After washing with water, dry well in the shade. Do not expose the air filter to direct sunlight or heat from a fire when drying it.

4. Install the air filter.

1. Operate the air conditioner in Fan operation mode for 2 to 3 hours. This will dry out the internal mechanisms.

2. Turn off the breaker. Turn off the breaker when the air conditioner is not going to be used for a long time. Dirt may collect and may cause a fire.

1. Clean the air filter and install it in the indoor unit.

2. Check that the air inlet and outlet of the indoor/outdoor unit are not blocked.

3. Check that the ground wire is connected correctly. It may be connected to the indoor unit side.

• Have you made a mistake in timer operation?

• Has the fuse blown or has the circuit breaker been tripped?

Check that this is not a damp smell exuded by the walls, carpet, furniture, or cloth items in the room.

Condensation occurs when the airflow from the air conditioner cools the warm room air. This is normal.

This is a protective mechanism for the compressor. Wait about three minutes and operation will begin.

• Is the air filter dirty? See air filter cleaning instructions.

• The room may have been very hot when the room air conditioner was first turned on. Allow time for it to cool down.

• Has the temperature been set incorrectly?

• Are the indoor unit’s air inlet or outlet vents obstructed?

• For a noise that sounds like water flowing: This is the sound of freon flowing inside the air conditioner unit.

• For a noise that sounds like compressed air releasing into atmosphere: This is the sound of the dehumidifying water being processed inside the air conditioning unit.

This sound is generated by the expansion/constriction of the front panel, etc. due to changes of temperature. This is normal.

• Are the batteries depleted?

• Are the batteries inserted in the opposite (+) and (-) directions?

This product has an over-current protection circuit. An error can occur due to a lightning strike, but this is normal behavior. After a few minutes, it will operate normally.

Call for service immediately in the following situations:

1. Anything abnormal such as a burning smell, loud noise, etc. happens. Stop the unit and turn the breaker off. Never try to repair by yourself or restart the system in such cases.

2. The main power cord is too hot or damaged.

3. An error code is generated by self-diagnosis.

4. Water leaks from the indoor unit even if the humidity is low.

5. Any switch, breaker (safety, earth), or fuse fails to work properly.
