Here are some tips that will help you minimize power consumption when you use the LG AK-W240LCB0 air conditioner:

• Do not cool excessively indoors. This may be harmful for your health and may consume more electricity.

• Block sunlight with blinds or curtains while you are operating the air conditioner.

• Keep doors or windows closed tightly while you are operating the air conditioner.

• Adjust the direction of the air flow vertically or horizontally to circulate indoor air.

• Speed up the fan to cool or warm indoor air quickly, in a short period of time.

• Open windows regularly for ventilation as the indoor air quality may deteriorate if the air conditioner is used for many hours.

• Clean the air filter once every 2 weeks. Dust and impurities collected in the air filter may block the air flow or weaken the cooling / dehumidifying functions.

• Be cautious when unpacking and installing the product. Sharp edges could cause injury. Be especially careful of the case edges and the fins on the condenser and evaporator.

• Do not install the product on a defective installation stand. It may cause injury, accident or damage to the product.

• Be sure the installation area does not deteriorate with age. If the base collapses, the air conditioner could fall with it, causing property damage, product failure and personal injury.

• If the power cord is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its authorized service agent in order to avoid any risk.

• Always check for gas (refrigerant) pressure after installation or repair of product. Low refrigerant levels may cause failure of product.

• Install the drain hose to ensure that water is drained away properly. A bad connection may cause water leakage.

• Keep level even when installing the product. To avoid vibration or water leakage.

• Do not install the product where the noise or hot air from the outdoor unit could damage the neighborhoods. It may cause a problem for your neighbors.

• Do not use people to lift and transport the product. Avoid personal injury.

• Do not install the product where it will be exposed to sea wind (salt spray) directly. It may cause corrosion on the product.

• Do not install the unit in potentially explosive atmospheres.

• Take care to ensure that power cable could not be pulled out or damaged during operation. There is risk of fire or electric shock.

• Do not place anything on the power cable. There is risk of fire or electric shock.

• Do not touch (operate) the product with wet hands. There is risk of fire or electrical shock.

• Do not place a heater or other appliances near the power cable. There is risk of fire and electric shock.

• Do not allow water to run into electric parts. It may cause failure of the product or electric shock.

• Do not store or use flammable gas or combustibles near the product. There is risk of fire or failure of product.

• Do not use the product in a tightly closed space for a long time. Oxygen deficiency could occur.

• Be cautious that water could not enter the product. There is risk of fire, electric shock or product damage.

• Ventilate the product from time to time when operating it together with a stove, etc. There is risk of fire or electric shock.

• Turn the main power off when cleaning or maintaining the product. There is risk of electric shock.

• When the product is not to be used for a long time, turn off the circuit breaker. There is risk of product damage or failure or unintended operation.

• Take care to ensure that nobody could step on or fall onto the unit. This could result in personal injury and product damage.

• Do not expose the skin directly to cool air for long periods of time. (Don’t sit in the draft.) This could harm your health.

• Do not use the product for special purposes, such as preserving foods, works of art, etc. It is a consumer air conditioner, not a precision refrigeration system. There is risk of damage or loss of property.

• Do not block the inlet or outlet of air flow. It may cause product failure.

• Use a soft cloth to clean. Do not use harsh detergents, solvents, etc. There is risk of fire, electric shock, or damage to the plastic parts of the product.

• Do not touch the metal parts of the product when removing the air filter. They are very sharp! There is risk of personal injury.

• Do not step on or put anything on the product (outdoor units). There is risk of personal injury and failure of product.

• Always insert the filter securely. Clean the filter every four weeks or more often if necessary. A dirty filter reduces the efficiency of the air conditioner and could cause product malfunction or damage.

• Do not insert hands or other objects through the air inlet or outlet while the product is operated. There are sharp and moving parts that could cause personal injury.

• Do not drink the water drained from the product. It is not sanitary and could cause serious health issues.

• Use a firm stool or ladder when cleaning or maintaining the product. Be careful and avoid personal injury.

Preparing for Operation

1. Contact an installation specialist for installation.

2. Use a dedicated circuit breaker.

You can easily control the desired operation mode. In the main screen, press the left/right buttons to select the operation mode category, and press the up/down buttons to set the operation mode. Some products may not support all operation modes.

The cooling operation’s minimum setting temperature is 18°C (or 20°C for some models). You can control the temperature in units of 1°C or 0.5°C depending on the indoor unit type.

– Set the desired temperature lower than the indoor temperature.

– The indoor temperature is displayed on the default screen of the remote controller.

– If the setpoint is higher than the room temperature, the unit will not start cooling until the room temperature exceeds the setpoint.

– Pressing the [On/Off] button while in cooling mode will shut off the operation.

Note: The favorable temperature difference between the indoor and outdoor temperature is 5°C. The cool mode temperature setting range is 18°C~30°C (64°F~86°F) for common models, and 20°C~30°C (68°F~86°F) for UAE only models.

After the cooling stops, if the product is started again right away, the cold wind does not come out immediately. This is due to a function that protects the compressor. The compressor will start after 3 minutes, and then the cold wind will come out.

The Dry operation’s initial fan speed is “Low”. This mode does not have a separate desired temperature setting. If you press the [On/Off] button during dehumidification mode, the operation will shut off.

Note: If you use it in the rainy season, or when the humidity is high, you can have both effective dehumidification and cooling operation at the same time.

The Fan Only operation’s initial wind strength is “High”. This mode does not have a separate desired temperature setting. If you press the [On/Off] button during fan only mode, the unit will stop.

Note: This mode provides fan only operation without temperature control, with recirculation of indoor air.

The heating operation’s minimum setting temperature is 16°C. You can control the temperature in units of 1°C or 0.5°C depending on the indoor unit type.

– Set the desired temperature higher than the indoor temperature.

– When the desired temperature is set lower than the indoor temperature, warm air doesn’t come out, but for some products, the fan will recirculate room air or stop altogether.

– Pressing the [On/Off] button while in heating mode will shut off the operation.

Note: In heating operation, you can select the desired temperature in the range of 16°C ~ 30°C. Heating is not operated in cooling exclusive models.

In the main screen, press the left/right buttons to select the desired temperature category, and press the up/down buttons to set the desired temperature. Desired temperature control is possible in the cooling, heating, and AI/auto modes.

In the remote controller’s main screen, you can check the current indoor temperature. Note that because of the location of temperature sensing, the real room temperature and the displayed value can be different.

1. In the menu screen, press the left/right buttons to select the “lock setting” category, and press [OK] to move to the lock setting list screen.

2. In the lock setting list, press the up/down buttons to select a lock function, and then you can turn it on/off.

When it is time to clean the indoor unit filter, a filter cleaning message appears. This function allows you to check the filter status and remove the message.

1. In the function setting list, select the Filter sign check and initialization category, and press [OK] to display the detail screen.

2. On this screen, you can see the filter usage time and remaining time. Press the ‘Reset’ button to clear the message and reset the timer.

Note: Dirty filters will increase the cost to cool or heat the conditioned space. The filter check message is cleared after a certain time without a separate clearing.

Smart Load Control (SLC) is a function that calculates the indoor air temperature, outdoor air temperature, and humidity to operate the unit effectively. To change the SLC stage value:

1. In the function setting list, select the Smart load control category, and press [OK] to move to the detail screen.

2. Use the up/down buttons to select the desired step and press [OK].

Note: SLC can be set only when the installer setting’s outdoor unit function M/S setting is set to “Master”. This function is only available on some products, and Step 4 may not be available on some indoor unit products.

1. Enter the User Setting menu.

2. In the user setting list, select the ‘Time’ category, and press [OK] to move to the detail screen.

3. Set the hour and minute using the appropriate buttons.

4. After setting, press [OK] to save the setting and move to the previous screen.

1. In the menu screen, press the left/right buttons to select the timer category, and press [OK] to move to the timer setting list screen.

2. In the timer setting list screen, press the up/down buttons to select the timer to set (Simple Timer, Turn-Off Reservation, Turn-On Reservation), and press [OK] to move to the detail screen.

3. After setting the value, when you press [OK], the timer is activated.

• Simple timer: Set the timer in the range of 1-7 hours in units of 1 hour. If the product is On, it will turn off after the set time. If it’s Off, it will turn on.

• Turn-on Reservation: The product is automatically turned On at the set timer time.

• Turn-off Reservation: The product is automatically turned Off at the set timer time.

1. In the menu screen, press the left/right buttons to select the schedule category, and press [OK] to move to the schedule setting list screen.

2. In the schedule setting list screen, press the up/down buttons to select the menu to set (Daily Schedule, Schedules & Edit, Exception Day), and press [OK] to move to the detail screen.

To add a schedule, follow these stages:

• Stage 1. Period setting: Set the period to perform the timer (start and end date).

• Stage 2. Day of week setting: Set the day of the week to perform the timer. You can select ‘Everyday / Weekend / Weekdays / Individual selection’.

• Stage 3. Time setting: Set the start time for the timer.

• Stage 4. Operation setting: Set the timer operation information (On/Off, mode, temperature, fan speed). If ‘Stop’ is selected, you cannot set mode/temperature/fan speed.

When stages 1-4 are completed, a ‘schedule is added’ message will appear, and it will move to the View and edit schedule screen.

This function automatically stops the scheduled operation on a set timer day.

1. In the schedule list, select the exception day category, and press [OK] to move to the Exception day designation detail screen.

2. To add an exception day, designate the year/month/day and press [OK] to save it.

3. To edit an existing exception day, select it using the up/down buttons and press [OK] to move to the edit screen where you can check, delete, or change the setting.

4. When you change exception day information, you need to save it after the change.

CAUTION: Before performing any maintenance, turn off the main power to the system.

WARNING: Before removing access panels to service the unit, disconnect the power supply. Failure to do so can result in severe injury or death.

This product has washable filters. It is very important to keep air filters clean.

1. Inspect the filters at least once a month (every week for the first 4 weeks in new buildings).

2. Washable type filters can be cleaned by washing with a mild detergent and water. Ensure that the filters are thoroughly dried before reinstalling them.

3. Unfiltered air can clog the condenser coil. To clean the coil, vertically (along the fins) stroke the coil surface with a soft-bristled brush.

4. Keep all vegetation away from the condenser coil area.

To keep your unit operating safely and efficiently, the manufacturer recommends that a qualified serviceman check the entire system at least once each year. The serviceman may examine these areas:

1. Filters (for cleaning)

2. Motors and drive system components

3. Condenser coils (for cleaning)

4. Safety controls (for mechanical cleaning)

5. Electrical components and wiring (for possible replacement or connection tightness)

6. Condensate drain (for cleaning)

7. Inspect the unit duct connections to ensure they are physically sound and sealed to the unit casing.

8. Inspect the unit mounting support to see that it is sound.

9. Inspect the unit to ensure there is no obvious deterioration.

1. Operate the air conditioner on air circulation mode for 2 to 3 hours. This will dry out the internal parts.

2. Turn off the circuit breaker. Dirt may collect and may cause a fire if left on.

1. Clean the air filter and re-install it in the indoor side. On the filter access panel at the left side of the unit, a “Filter access panel” label is attached.

2. Check that the air inlet and outlet of the indoor/outdoor unit are not blocked.

• Has the fuse blown or has the circuit breaker been tripped?

• Does the remote controller display “CH” on the LCD? This means that a protective device has been tripped. Please contact your dealer or service center.

Check that this is not a damp smell exuded by the walls, carpet, furniture, or cloth items in the room.

Condensation occurs when the airflow from the air conditioner cools the warm air in the room. This is normal.

This is the protection device of the air conditioner. Wait about three minutes and operation will begin.

• Is the air filter dirty? See air filter cleaning instructions.

• The room may have been very hot when the air conditioner was first turned on. Allow time for it to cool down.

• Has the setting temperature been set incorrectly? See temperature setting instructions.

• Are the unit’s air inlet or outlet vents obstructed?

Check if the circuit breaker has been tripped.

The unit automatically retrieves the previous operating conditions (Outage Compensation Function). You don’t need to press any buttons. Additional functions will not be retrieved automatically.
