To attach the stand to your LG 42LB620V-ZE, please follow these steps. Note that the image shown in the manual may differ from your TV.

For model LG 42LB620V-ZE, you will attach the A Stand Base to the B Stand Base, and then secure this assembly to the bottom of the TV set using the provided screws.

Step 1. Place the screen facing down on a cushioned table or flat surface to protect the screen from scratches.

Step 2. Assemble the two parts of the stand (A Stand Base and B Stand Base).

Step 3. Attach the assembled stand to the TV set using the provided screws. For the LG 42LB620V-ZE, you should use the M4 x L14 screws (4EA).

To connect your LG 42LB620V-ZE to a wall antenna socket, use an RF cable (75 Ω).

Notes:

• Use a signal splitter if you need to connect more than 2 TVs.

• If the image quality is poor, install a signal amplifier properly to improve the image quality.

• If the image quality is poor with an antenna connected, try to realign the antenna in the correct direction.

• An antenna cable and converter are not supplied with the TV.

• Supported DTV Audio formats are: MPEG, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, HE-AAC.

To connect a satellite dish to your LG 42LB620V-ZE, connect the TV to a satellite dish to a satellite socket with a satellite RF cable (75 Ω). The connection port is labeled LNB Satellite IN.

The Euro Scart connection on your LG 42LB620V-ZE transmits video and audio signals from an external device to the TV. Connect the external device and the TV with a Euro Scart cable as shown in the manual.

Note:

• Any Euro scart cable used must be signal shielded.

• When watching digital TV in 3D imaging mode, only 2D out signals can be output through the SCART cable (Only on 3D models like the LG 42LB620V-ZE).

The following table shows the output type from the AV1 (TV Out) port based on the current input mode:

TV Out: Outputs Analogue TV or Digital TV signals.

You can connect various external devices to your LG 42LB620V-ZE such as HD receivers, DVD players, VCRs, audio systems, USB storage devices, PCs, and gaming devices. For the best picture and audio quality, it is recommended to connect external devices using an HDMI cable. A separate cable is not provided.

Available Ports:

• HDMI IN: For connecting devices like DVD/Blu-Ray players, HD Cable Boxes, HD STB, or a PC.

• USB IN: For connecting USB storage devices or a USB HDD.

• PCMCIA Card Slot: For inserting a PCMCIA card.

• H/P OUT (Headphone Out): For connecting headphones.

• COMPONENT IN / AV IN: For connecting devices like DVD/Blu-Ray players or VCRs using component or composite cables.

• OPTICAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUT: For connecting to a Digital Audio System.

• ANTENNA / CABLE IN: For antenna or cable connection.

• LNB Satellite IN: For satellite dish connection.

• LAN: For a wired network connection (only on LAN port models).

General Connection Notes:

• Connect external devices to the TV regardless of the order of the TV port.

• If you record a TV programme on a DVD recorder or VCR, make sure to connect the TV signal input cable to the TV through the DVD recorder or VCR.

• Refer to the external equipment’s manual for operating instructions.

• If you connect a gaming device, use the cable supplied with the gaming device.

• In PC mode, there may be noise associated with resolution, vertical pattern, contrast, or brightness. If noise is present, change the PC output to another resolution, change the refresh rate, or adjust the brightness and contrast on the PICTURE menu until the picture is clear.

• In PC mode, some resolution settings may not work properly depending on the graphics card.

The Joystick button is located below the TV screen and allows you to operate the TV functions by pressing or moving it up, down, left, or right.

Basic Functions:

• Power On: When the TV is off, place your finger on the joystick button, press it once, and release it.

• Power Off: When the TV is on, press and hold the joystick button for a few seconds and release it. (If the Menu is on the screen, pressing and holding the button will exit the Menu.)

• Volume Control: Move the joystick left or right to adjust the volume.

• Programmes Control: Move the joystick up or down to scroll through saved programmes.

Note: When moving the joystick, be careful not to press it first, as this will prevent you from adjusting the volume or programmes.

Adjusting the Menu:

When the TV is on, press the joystick button once to open the menu. You can then adjust the menu items by moving the joystick.

To prevent the LG 42LB620V-ZE from being scratched or damaged and to ensure safe transportation, please follow this advice:

• CAUTION: Avoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage to the screen.

• It is recommended to move the TV in the box or packing material that it originally came in.

• Before moving or lifting the TV, disconnect the power cord and all cables.

• When holding the TV, the screen should face away from you to avoid damage.

• Hold the top and bottom of the TV frame firmly. Do not hold the transparent part, speaker, or speaker grill area.

• When transporting a large TV, there should be at least 2 people.

• When transporting the TV, do not expose it to jolts or excessive vibration.

• Keep the TV upright during transport; never turn it on its side or tilt it left or right.

• Do not apply excessive pressure to cause flexing or bending of the frame chassis as it may damage the screen.

1. Lift and tilt the TV into its upright position on a table.

2. Leave a 10 cm (minimum) space from the wall for proper ventilation.

3. Connect the power cord to a wall outlet.

CAUTION: Do not place the TV near or on sources of heat, as this may result in fire or other damage.

Securing the TV to a Wall (Optional):

1. Insert and tighten the eye-bolts, or TV brackets and bolts, on the back of the TV. If there are already bolts in the eye-bolt position, remove them first.

2. Mount the wall brackets with the bolts to the wall. Match the location of the wall bracket and the eye-bolts on the rear of the TV.

3. Connect the eye-bolts and wall brackets tightly with a sturdy rope. Make sure to keep the rope horizontal with the flat surface.

CAUTION: Make sure that children do not climb on or hang on the TV.

Note:

• Use a platform or cabinet that is strong and large enough to support the TV securely.

• Brackets, bolts, and ropes are not provided. You can obtain additional accessories from your local dealer.

To mount your LG 42LB620V-ZE, attach an optional wall mount bracket to the rear of the TV and install it on a solid wall perpendicular to the floor. LG recommends that wall mounting be performed by a qualified professional installer.

CAUTION:

• Disconnect the power first, then move or install the TV to avoid electric shock.

• If you install the TV on a ceiling or slanted wall, it may fall and result in severe injury. Use an authorized LG wall mount.

• Do not over-tighten the screws, as this may cause damage to the TV and void your warranty.

• Use screws and wall mounts that meet the VESA standard. Any damages or injuries from misuse are not covered by the warranty.

Wall Mounting Bracket Specifications for LG 42LB620V-ZE:

For the 42LB62** model, Wall Mount Spacers are required for installation.

The remote control for the LG 42LB620V-ZE has the following functions:

• POWER: Turns the TV on or off.

• TV/RAD: Selects Radio, TV and DTV programme.

• SUBTITLE: Recalls your preferred subtitle in digital mode.

• GUIDE: Shows programme guide.

• AV MODE: Selects an AV mode.

• INPUT: Changes the input source.

• Number buttons: Enters numbers.

• LIST: Accesses the saved programme list.

• Q.VIEW: Returns to the previously viewed programme.

• Volume +/-: Adjusts the volume level.

• FAV: Accesses your favourite programme list.

• 3D: Used for viewing 3D video.

• MUTE: Mutes all sounds.

• Programme P ^/v: Scrolls through the saved programmes.

• PAGE: Moves to the previous or next screen.

• Teletext buttons (TEXT / T.OPT): These buttons are used for teletext.

• INFO: Views the information of the current programme and screen.

• SETTINGS: Accesses the main menus.

• Q.MENU: Accesses the Quick menus.

• Navigation buttons (up/down/left/right): Scrolls through menus or options.

• OK: Selects menus or options and confirms your input.

• BACK: Returns to the previous level.

• EXIT: Clears on-screen displays and returns to TV viewing.

• AD: By pressing the AD button, audio descriptions function will be enabled.

• REC: Starts to record and displays record menu. (Only on Time MachineReady supported models).

• Control buttons (Play, Pause, etc.): Controls the MY MEDIA menus, Time MachineReady control or SIMPLINK compatible devices.

• Colour buttons (Red, Green, Yellow, Blue): These access special functions in some menus.

To automatically tune the programmes on your LG 42LB620V-ZE, go to SETTINGS → SETUP → Auto Tuning. This function automatically finds and stores available programmes.

• If the Input Source is not connected properly, programme registration may not work.

• Auto Tuning only finds programmes that are currently broadcasting.

• If the Lock System is turned on, a pop-up window will appear asking for a password.

You can adjust the picture settings on your LG 42LB620V-ZE using several features:

Picture Wizard III:

Navigate to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Picture Wizard III. This feature calibrates and adjusts for optimum picture quality using the remote control without expensive pattern devices.

Picture Mode:

Navigate to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Picture Mode. Select the picture mode optimized for your viewing environment or the programme.

• Vivid: Heightens contrast, brightness and sharpness.

• Standard: Displays images in standard levels of contrast, brightness and sharpness.

• Eco/APS: Reduces power consumption by changing TV settings.

• Cinema/Game: Displays the optimum picture for movies and games.

• Sports: Optimizes the video image for high and dynamic actions.

• Expert 1, 2: A menu for adjusting picture quality that allows experts to enjoy the best TV viewing. This is an adjustment menu provided for ISF-certified picture tuning professionals.

Advanced Control / Expert Control:

Navigate to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Picture Mode → Advanced Control / Expert Control. This calibrates the screen for each picture mode. Options include:

• Dynamic Contrast: Adjusts contrast to the optimal level.

• Dynamic Colour: Adjusts colours for a more natural look.

• Skin Colour / Sky Colour / Grass Colour: Sets specific color spectrums separately.

• Gamma: Sets the gradation curve.

• Colour Gamut: Selects the range of colours that can be expressed.

• Edge Enhancer: Shows clearer and more distinctive edges.

• Colour Filter: Filters a specific colour spectrum to fine-tune saturation and hue.

• Colour Temperature: Adjusts the overall tone of the screen.

• Colour Management System: A system used by experts to adjust colour with a test pattern.

To adjust detailed settings for images on your LG 42LB620V-ZE, go to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Picture Mode → Picture Option. The options include:

• Noise Reduction: Eliminates noise in the picture.

• MPEG Noise Reduction: Eliminates noise generated while creating digital picture signals.

• Black Level: Adjusts the brightness and contrast of the screen to suit the black level of the input picture.

• Real Cinema: Optimizes the screen for movie viewing.

• Motion Eye Care/SUPER Energy Saving: Saves power consumption by adjusting the brightness corresponding to the movement of the image on the screen.

TruMotion corrects images to display smoother motion sequences. To access it, go to SETTINGS → PICTURE → TruMotion.

• Smooth: De-judder/De-blur working on a higher range in auto mode.

• Clear: De-judder/De-blur working on a middle range in auto mode.

• User: De-judder / De-blur can be set manually.

– De-judder: This function adjusts juddering of the screen.

– De-blur: This function adjusts and eliminates blurring of the screen.

The Energy Saving feature reduces power consumption by adjusting screen brightness. Go to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Energy Saving.

• Auto: The TV sensor detects the ambient lighting and automatically adjusts the screen brightness.

• Off: Turns off the Energy Saving mode.

• Minimum / Medium / Maximum: Applies the pre-set Energy Saving mode.

• Screen Off: The screen is turned off and only sound is played. Press any button except the Power button on the remote control to turn the screen back on.

You can choose where the audio is output from your LG 42LB620V-ZE.

• TV Speaker: Go to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out → TV Speaker. Sound is output through the TV speaker.

• External Speaker (Optical): Go to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out → External Speaker (Optical). Sound is output through the speaker connected to the optical port. SimpLink is supported.

• Headphone: Go to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out → Headphone. Sound is output through the headphone connected to the earphone/headphone port.

• LG Sound Sync (Optical): Go to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out → LG Sound Sync (Optical). Connect an LG audio device with the Sound Sync logo to the optical digital audio output port for rich, powerful sound.

To set up the Digital Sound Out, navigate to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out → External Speaker (Optical) → Digital Sound Out. The output format depends on the audio input:

If the video and audio are not synchronized, you can adjust it. Go to SETTINGS → AUDIO → AV Sync. Adjust. If you set AV Sync. Adjust to ON, you can adjust the sound output (from TV speakers or SPDIF) to match the screen image.

SIMPLINK allows you to control and manage various multimedia devices conveniently via the SIMPLINK menu using your TV remote. To use SIMPLINK:

1. Connect the TV’s HDMI IN terminal to the SIMPLINK device’s HDMI output terminal using a high-speed HDMI® cable (with CEC feature added).

2. Select INPUT(OPTION) → SIMPLINK. The SIMPLINK menu window will appear.

3. In the SIMPLINK Setting window, set the SIMPLINK function to ON.

4. In the SIMPLINK menu window, select the device you want to control.

SIMPLINK function descriptions:

• Direct Play: Plays the multimedia device on the TV instantly.

• Select multimedia device: Selects the desired device via the SIMPLINK menu to control it from the TV screen instantly.

• Disc playback: Manages the multimedia device with the TV remote control.

• Power off all devices: When you power off the TV, all connected devices are turned off.

• Sync Power on: When the equipment with SIMPLINK function starts to play, the TV will automatically turn on.

• Speaker: Select speaker either on the home theatre unit or the TV.

To set or change the TV password, go to SETTINGS → LOCK → Set Password. The initial password is set to ‘0000’.

To reset your LG 42LB620V-ZE to its factory settings, go to SETTINGS → OPTION → Factory Reset. This will delete all stored information and reset all TV settings. The TV will turn itself off and back on to complete the process.

• When the Lock System is in place, a pop-up window will appear and ask for the password.

• Do not turn off the power during initialization.

To safely remove a USB storage device, go to Q.MENU → USB Device. Select the USB device you want to remove. When you see a message that the USB device has been removed, you can separate the device from the TV. Once a USB device has been selected for removal, it can no longer be read. You will need to remove it and then re-connect it to use it again.

• If the USB storage device has a built-in auto recognition program or uses its own driver, it may not work.

• Some USB storage devices may not work or may work incorrectly.

• Use only USB storage devices formatted with the Windows FAT32 or NTFS File System.

• For external USB HDDs, it is recommended that you use devices with a rated voltage of less than 5 V and a rated current of less than 500 mA.

• It is recommended that you use USB memory sticks of 32 GB or less and USB HDDs of 1 TB or less.

• If a USB HDD with a power-saving function does not work properly, turn the power off and on. For more information, refer to the user manual of the USB HDD.

• Data in the USB storage device can be damaged, so be sure to back up important files to other devices. Data maintenance is the user’s responsibility.

Viewing Environment

• Viewing Time: When watching 3D content, take 5 – 15 minute breaks every hour. Viewing 3D content for a long period of time may cause headache, dizziness, fatigue or eye strain.

• Viewing Distance: Maintain a distance of at least twice the screen diagonal length when watching 3D content. If you feel discomfort, move further away from the TV.

Those that have a photosensitive seizure or chronic illness

• Some users may experience a seizure or other abnormal symptoms when exposed to a flashing light or particular pattern from 3D content.

• Do not watch 3D videos if you feel nausea, are pregnant, or have a chronic illness such as epilepsy, cardiac disorder, or blood pressure disease, etc.

• 3D content is not recommended for those who suffer from stereo blindness or stereo anomaly. Double images or discomfort may be experienced.

• If you have strabismus (cross-eyed), amblyopia (weak eyesight), or astigmatism, you may have trouble sensing depth and easily feel fatigue due to double images. It is advised to take more frequent breaks.

• If your eyesight varies between your right and left eye, revise your eyesight prior to watching 3D content.

Symptoms which require discontinuation of watching 3D content

• Do not watch 3D content when you feel fatigued from lack of sleep, overwork, or drinking.

• If you experience symptoms like headache, eyeball pain, dizziness, nausea, palpitation, blurriness, discomfort, double image, or visual inconvenience, stop watching and rest until the symptom subsides. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist.

Cautions when using the 3D glasses

• Make sure to use LG 3D glasses. Otherwise, you may not be able to view 3D videos properly.

• Do not use 3D glasses instead of your normal glasses, sunglasses or protective goggles.

• Using modified 3D glasses may cause eye strain or image distortion.

• Do not keep your 3D glasses in extremely high or low temperatures as it will cause deformation.

• The 3D glasses are fragile and are easily scratched. Always use a soft, clean piece of cloth when wiping the lenses. Do not scratch the lenses with sharp objects or clean/wipe them with chemicals.

Clean your TV regularly to keep the best performance and to extend its lifespan.

CAUTION: Make sure to turn the power off and disconnect the power cord and all other cables first.

Screen, frame, cabinet and stand:

• To remove dust or light dirt, wipe the surface with a dry, clean, and soft cloth.

• To remove major dirt, wipe the surface with a soft cloth dampened in clean water or a diluted mild detergent. Then wipe immediately with a dry cloth.

CAUTION for cleaning:

• Avoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage.

• Do not push, rub, or hit the screen surface with your fingernail or a sharp object, as this may result in scratches and image distortions.

• Do not use any chemicals as this may damage the product.

• Do not spray liquid onto the surface. If water enters the TV, it may result in fire, electric shock, or malfunction.

Power cord:

Remove the accumulated dust or dirt on the power cord regularly.
