If you are using a local account, you can switch to a Microsoft account:

Step 1. Open the Start menu and select Settings → Accounts.

Step 2. Select Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.

Step 3. If you already have a Microsoft account, enter the account name and password to sign in. Otherwise, select Create one to create a new Microsoft account.

To switch back to a local account from a Microsoft account, open the Start menu and select Settings → Accounts → Sign in with a local account instead.

Your user account must be of the “Administrator” type to add additional user accounts.

Step 1. Open the Start menu and select Settings → Accounts → Family & other users.

Step 2. Select Add someone else to this PC.

If your computer includes a fingerprint reader, you can enroll your fingerprint for Windows sign-in.

Note: If you are using a local account, it must be password protected to enroll fingerprints. You can enroll more than one fingerprint.

You can open the Control Panel in two ways:

1. Open the Start menu and select Windows System → Control Panel.

2. Use Windows Search and type “Control Panel”.

Step 1. Click the network icon in the Windows notification area. A list of nearby networks is displayed.

Step 2. Select a network and click Connect. Provide the security key if prompted.

If a network password has changed, you need to forget the network to enter the new password.

You must set the administrator password before you can set the user password.

Step 1. Open the UEFI/BIOS setup utility using the administrator password.

Step 2. Select Security → Set User Password and press Enter.

Step 3. Enter a password string that contains only letters and numbers and then press Enter. The user password must be different from the administrator password.

Step 4. Enter the password again and press Enter.

Step 5. Select Exit → Exit Saving Changes.

If the administrator password has been set, you can enable the power-on password.

Step 1. Open the UEFI/BIOS setup utility.

Step 2. Select Security → Power on Password and press Enter.

Step 3. Change the setting to Enabled.

Step 4. Select Exit → Exit Saving Changes.

Attention: Be extremely careful when setting a hard disk password. If you forget it, a Lenovo authorized service personnel cannot reset your password or recover data from the hard disk. You must take your computer to have the hard disk drive replaced.

Step 1. Open the UEFI/BIOS setup utility.

Step 2. Select Security → Set Hard Disk Password and press Enter.

Step 3. Follow on-screen instructions to set both master and user passwords. They must be set at the same time.

Step 4. Select Exit → Exit Saving Changes.

Step 1. In the Windows 10 search box, enter “Create a restore point” and select the matched result.

Step 2. Select the System Protection tab and then select Create.

Note: System protection must be turned on for the system drive (typically C) before you can create restore points. Select a drive and then select Configure to turn it on.

Step 1. In the Windows 10 search box, enter “Recovery” and select the matched result.

Step 2. Select Open System Restore → Next.

Step 3. Select a restore point and then select Next → Finish.

Step 1. Open the Start menu and then select Settings → Update & Security → Recovery.

Step 2. Under Reset this PC, click Get started.

Step 3. Choose either Keep my files or Remove everything.

Step 4. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the reset process.

Attention: Back up personal data before choosing “Remove everything.”

Use a USB drive (not supplied) to create a Windows recovery drive.

Step 1. In the Windows 10 search box, enter “Create a recovery drive” and select the matched result.

Step 2. Make sure “Back up system files to the recovery drive” is selected and then select Next.

Step 3. Plug a USB drive into your computer, select it, and then select Next → Create.

Attention: Previous files on the drive will be deleted. Back up personal files before using it.

If Windows cannot start, you can use a recovery drive created in advance.

Step 1. Connect the recovery drive to your computer; restart your computer and set it to start from the recovery drive.

Step 2. On the “Choose an option” screen, select Troubleshoot.

Step 3. Choose a recovery option:

– Select Advanced Options → System Restore to restore your computer to a system restore point.

– Or select Recover from a drive to reset your computer.

Attention: All personal files on your computer will be deleted after recovering from the drive.

Open the Start menu and select Power → Shut down.

Press and hold the power button until the computer turns off. Then restart the computer.

1. Carefully unplug the ac power adapter and turn off the computer immediately. The more quickly you stop the current from passing through the computer the more likely you will reduce damage from short circuits.

Attention: Although you might lose some data or work by turning off the computer immediately, leaving the computer on might make your computer unusable.

2. Wait until you are certain that all the liquid is dry before turning on your computer.

CAUTION: Do not try to drain out the liquid by turning over the computer. If your computer has keyboard drainage holes on the bottom, the liquid will be drained out through the holes.

When your computer is turned on or the battery is charging, the base, palm rest, and other parts may become hot. Extended contact with your body could cause discomfort or a skin burn.

• Avoid keeping your hands, your lap, or any other part of your body in contact with a hot section of the computer for more than one minute.

• Periodically take hands from using the keyboard by lifting your hands from the palm rest.

Protect from heat and moisture:

• Protect yourself from heat generated by the computer and the ac power adapter.

• To avoid spills and electrical shock, keep liquids away from your computer.

Handle cables properly:

• Applying strong force to cables may damage or break them. Route cables so they cannot be walked on, tripped over, or pinched.

Handle the computer gently:

• Do not drop, bump, scratch, twist, hit, vibrate, push, or place heavy objects on your computer, display, or external devices.

Carry the computer carefully:

• Use a quality carrying case with adequate cushioning and protection.
