What are the functions of the KD21C eBike display?

The KD21C eBike display has many functions to meet riders’ needs. The indication elements include battery level, motor output power, assist level, speed indication (including current speed, max speed, and average speed), ODO and trip distance, push-assistance function, trip time, backlight ON/OFF, error code indication, various parameter settings (e.g., wheel diameter, speed limit, battery power bar, assist level, current limit, maximum speed, password enable), and a function to recover default settings.

How is the KD21C display installed?

The KD21C display can be mounted on the left side of the handlebar, close to the grip. Adjust the angle for a good screen view. It’s important to cut off the power before connecting the corresponding connectors between the display and the controller.

How do you switch the e-bike system ON/OFF?

To switch on the e-bike system and provide power to the controller, hold the On/Off button for 2 seconds. To switch off the e-bike system, hold the On/Off button for 2 seconds. When the e-bike system is switched off, it no longer uses battery power, and the leakage current is less than 1 μA. If the e-bike is parked for approximately 10 minutes, the e-bike system switches off automatically.

What information does the display show by default after switching on the e-bike system?

After switching on the e-bike system, the display shows the current speed and ODO (total distance) by default.

How do you switch between different display indications?

Press the ON/OFF button to switch between the following indication functions: ODO (km) → Trip (km) → Trip Time (hour) → ODO (km) → Max. Speed (km/h) → Avg. Speed (km/h). The cycle returns to ODO (km) again.

How do you activate the push-assistance mode?

To activate the push-assistance function, press and hold the DOWN button for 2 seconds. The e-bike will then move at a uniform speed of 6 km/h while the screen displays “P”. The push-assistance function is switched off when you release the DOWN button.

When should the push-assistance mode be used?

The push-assistance function may only be used when pushing the e-bike. Be aware of the danger of injury if the bike wheels do not have ground contact while using the push-assistance function.

How do you switch the e-bike lights ON/OFF?

To switch on the e-bike’s front or rear light, press the UP button for 2 seconds. The display backlight brightness will be reduced, and the screen will display the light symbol. To switch off the lights, press the UP button for 2 seconds again; the lights will switch off and the display backlight will return to its normal brightness. If the e-bike front or rear light is independent of the UP button, the UP button can only be used to switch the display backlight on/off.

How do you change the assist level on the e-bike?

The assist level of the e-bike drive can be changed anytime, even while riding. The assist level ranges from 0 to 5. The default assist level is 1 when the display is started. When an error is detected, the respective error code is indicated in the text indication area. Refer to the error code definitions in Attached list 1 of the PDF.

How do I get my display to show miles and speed when I am using no power assist?

    1. Anonymous

To change your display from kilometers to miles, follow these steps:

Turn on the e-bike system by holding the ON/OFF button for 2 seconds.
Hold both the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds to enter the general settings menu.
Press the UP/DOWN button to cycle through the menu options until you reach the unit toggling setting, represented by a “U” on the screen.
The default unit is kilometers (“2”). Press the UP/DOWN button to change it to miles (“1”).
Press the ON/OFF button to store your changes.

The display will now show speed and distance in miles.

You did not ask how to turn off power assist, but if you would like to, you can set the assist level to “0”. This will result in zero motor output power, as if you were riding a traditional bicycle. To do this, press the UP/DOWN button while riding to change the assist level to 0.
