The differences between the models are the frame color and available inputs. The GD-V4200PCE models require a separately-purchased video interface kit (IF-C420P1W) for VIDEO A, VIDEO B, COMPONENT, and RGB AUDIO inputs.

• Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The product should be mounted according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

• When the product is used on a cart, be careful to avoid quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces which may cause the product and cart to overturn.

• Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation. Do not block or cover these openings. For proper ventilation, keep a distance of more than 10 cm (3 15/16 inches) from other equipment.

• Operate the product only with the type of power source indicated on the label.

• This product is equipped with a three-wire grounded plug. Do not defeat the safety purpose of this plug.

• Route power-supply cords so they are not likely to be walked on or pinched.

• For added protection during a lightning storm or when left unattended for long periods, unplug it from the wall outlet.

• Do not overload wall outlets or extension cords.

• Never push objects or spill liquid of any kind into this product through openings.

• Do not attempt to service this product yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

• When replacement parts are required, use only parts specified by the manufacturer.

• Remote signal transmission window: Transmits signals to the monitor.

• DISPLAY button: Displays input terminal, color system, scan system, and frequency. Press again to hide.

• VIDEO A, VIDEO B, COMPO. and RGB buttons: Switch between inputs.

• MUTING button: Turns off the volume immediately. Press again to resume.

• MULTIPLE MONITOR ADJUSTMENT buttons: Set IDs for serial connections.

• MENU/EXIT button: Displays or erases menus. In a sub-menu, it moves back one screen.

• Remote control cable jack: Connects a cable for use as a wired remote control.

• ASPECT button: Switches between aspect ratios (REGULAR → FULL → ZOOM → PANORAMIC).

• POWER button: Turns the power on or off.

• VOLUME + / – buttons: Adjusts the volume level.

• ◀ / ▶ / ▲ / ▼ buttons: Select menu items or make adjustments.

Monitor: Front View

• Remote sensor/power lamp: Receives signals from the remote. Glows green when on, red in standby.

• Self-diagnostic lamps: Light or flash if an abnormality occurs.

• ▲ / ▼ buttons: Select menu items or adjust volume when no menu is displayed.

• MENU button: Displays or erases menus.

• INPUT button: Switches between inputs.

• POWER button: Turns the monitor on and off.

Monitor: Rear View

• RS-232C CONTROL Input terminal (D-sub, 9-pin): Connects to a personal computer for control.

• AC INPUT terminal: Connects the supplied power cord.

• MAIN POWER switch: Puts the monitor into standby mode.

• REMOTE CONTROL terminals (mini jack): IN and OUT jacks for serial connection of multiple monitors.

• SPEAKER OUT terminals: Connect external speakers.

• INTERNAL/EXTERNAL selecting switch: Selects between built-in and external speakers.

• VIDEO A terminals*: Includes Y/C (S-video) input, BNC video input/output, and audio input jacks.

• VIDEO B terminals*: Includes Y/C (S-video) input, BNC video input/output, and audio input jacks.

• COMPONENT input terminals*: Includes Y, PB/B-Y, PR/R-Y BNC inputs and audio input jacks.

• RGB input terminals: Includes a PC input terminal (D-sub, 15-pin) and audio input jacks*.

* Note: GD-V4200PCE and GD-V4200PCE-G models do not have VIDEO A, VIDEO B, COMPONENT, and RGB AUDIO terminals. To use these, you need to install the video interface kit (IF-C420P1W).

The following accessories are included:

• Remote control (RM-C575) x 1

• Remote control cable x 1

• Power cord (approx. 2.5 m) x 3 (Use the one matching the wall outlet.)

• Batteries (AA/R6P) x 2

1. Remove the back cover: While pushing the release lever on the cover, remove the cover in the direction of the arrow.

2. Place the batteries: Put the two supplied batteries (AA/R6P), noting the ⊕ and ⊖ markings as shown.

3. Replace the back cover: Make sure the release lever on the cover is locked in place correctly.

• Do not mix old and new batteries.

• Do not mix different types of battery.

• Place batteries according to the ⊕ and ⊖ markings.

• When installing batteries, insert the ⊖ end first to avoid a short circuit.

• Use only the specified batteries.

• Remove batteries when not using the remote for a long time.

• Replace dead batteries immediately to prevent liquid leakage.

• If leaked liquid contacts your skin, wipe it off with a soft cloth.

• Do not throw batteries into a fire or try recharging them.

• The service life of batteries is six months to one year for normal use. The supplied batteries are for checking operation and may have a shorter life.

• When mounting the monitor vertically, adjust the cooling fan speed for better heat dissipation (see “Mounting the Monitor Vertically” section).

• Use a dedicated Stand Unit, Wall Mounting Unit, or Monitor Hanger Unit for installation.

• Do not tilt the monitor rightward, leftward, or backward.

• Route power and connection cables along walls or floor corners to avoid being walked on.

• For good heat dissipation, leave the recommended minimum space around the monitor.

• The ambient temperature of the installation location should be between 0°C to 40°C.

• If installing near a ceiling, the remote control may not work correctly. Use it as a wired remote or move the monitor.

• Take measures to prevent the monitor from overturning, such as in an earthquake, to avoid personal injury.

• Do not allow the same image to be displayed for a long time to prevent afterimage burn-in. Use the White Back function to reduce this effect.

• The monitor is manufactured with high-precision technology, allowing for over 99.99% active pixels. A very small number of pixels may be deficient or lit at all times.

• Before making connections, turn off all equipment.

• Plugs should be firmly inserted; a poor connection could cause noise.

• To unplug a cord, be sure to grasp its plug and pull it out.

• Connect the power cord after having finished all other connections.

• Refer also to the user manual of each piece of equipment.

Video signals

• VIDEO A and VIDEO B terminals: Accept PAL, NTSC, and SECAM signals.

• COMPONENT terminals: Accept 480i, 576i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i signals.

(For GD-V4200PCE and GD-V4200PCE-G, to input the above signals, you need to install the video interface kit IF-C420P1W).

Computer signals (Preset and user-defined)

The monitor supports 13 preset video modes for the RGB input terminals, as well as user-defined modes. The following signals are supported:

1. Turn on the main power: Set the MAIN POWER switch on the back of the monitor to ON. The power lamp on the front will glow red.

2. Turn on the power: Press the POWER button on the remote control or the monitor. The power lamp will change to glow green.

3. Select an input: Press the desired input button on the remote control (VIDEO A, VIDEO B, COMPO., or RGB) or press the INPUT button on the monitor repeatedly to cycle through inputs.

4. Adjust the volume: Use the VOLUME + / – buttons on the remote control or the ▲ / ▼ buttons on the monitor (when no menu is displayed).

Press the MUTING button on the remote control. “MUTING ON” will be displayed and the sound will go out. Pressing the button again will resume the previous volume level.

Press the ASPECT button on the remote control to cycle through the available screen sizes. The sequence is as follows:

REGULAR → FULL → ZOOM → PANORAMIC

• REGULAR: Displays at a conventional 4:3 aspect ratio.

• FULL: The regular size display is enlarged horizontally.

• ZOOM: The regular size display is enlarged vertically and horizontally at the same ratio.

• PANORAMIC: The regular size display is enlarged horizontally to the extent that the picture does not look abnormal.

Note: The aspect ratio may be fixed for certain input signals. For example, it is fixed to FULL for 1080i or 720p signals. For 480p signals or any RGB signal, you can only select REGULAR and FULL.

1. Press MENU/EXIT on the remote or MENU on the monitor to display the Main Menu.

2. Press ▲/▼ to move the cursor (►) to “SIZE/POSITION ADJ.”

3. Press ▶ to display the Size/Position Adjustment Menu.

4. Press ▲/▼ to move the cursor (►) to the item you want to adjust.

5. Press ◀/▶ to adjust the selected item.

6. To make finer adjustments, select “sub menu” and press ▶ to bring up an adjustment bar. Use ◀/▶ to adjust.

7. To reset adjustments for this menu, select “reset” and press ▶ twice.

8. Press MENU/EXIT twice to exit the menu.

2. Press ▲/▼ to move the cursor (►) to “PICTURE ADJ.”

3. Press ▶ to display the Picture Adjustment Menu.

5. Press ◀/▶ to make adjustments.

6. To reset adjustments for this menu, select “reset” and press ▶ twice.

7. Press MENU/EXIT twice to exit the menu.

Adjusting the Color Temperature

1. Press MENU/EXIT to display the Main Menu.

2. Move the cursor to “FUNCTION SELECT” and press ▶.

3. Move the cursor to “COLOR TEMP.”

4. Press ◀/▶ to alternate between “HIGH” (bluish) and “LOW” (reddish).

5. Press MENU/EXIT twice to exit.

Adjusting the White Balance (Fine Adjustment)

1. To display the Setup Menu:

• On the remote control: Press MENU/EXIT while holding VOLUME –.

• On the monitor: Press MENU while holding ▼.

2. Move the cursor to “WHITE BALANCE” and press ▶.

3. The White Balance Adjustment Menu appears. You can adjust G GAIN, B GAIN, and R GAIN separately for the selected “HIGH” or “LOW” color temperature setting.

4. Move the cursor to the desired item (e.g., G GAIN) and use ◀/▶ to adjust the value.

5. To reset adjustments, select “reset” and press ▶ twice.

6. Press MENU/EXIT multiple times to exit the menus.

You can set the signal types for VIDEO and COMPONENT inputs. Normally, “AUTO” is recommended.

1. Press MENU/EXIT to display the Main Menu.

2. Move the cursor to “FUNCTION SELECT” and press ▶.

3. Move the cursor to “SIGNAL MODE.”

4. Press ◀/▶ to select the receivable video signal type. The options change based on the currently selected input:

• When VIDEO A or VIDEO B input is selected: AUTO ↔ NTSC ↔ PAL ↔ SECAM

• When COMPONENT input is selected: AUTO ↔ 480i ↔ 576i ↔ 1080i ↔ 720p ↔ 480p

5. Press MENU/EXIT twice to exit.

To display the Setup Menu, use one of the following methods:

• On the remote control: Press MENU/EXIT while holding VOLUME –.

• On the monitor: Press MENU while holding ▼.

Once in the Setup Menu, use ▲/▼ to select an item and ◀/▶ to change its setting. Here are the available functions:

• POWER SAVE: Automatically turns the monitor to standby mode if no signal is received for a set time (OFF, 1-5 MIN.).

• CONTROL LOCK: Prohibits button operations on the monitor itself to prevent tampering. Set to ON or OFF.

• STATUS DISPLAY: Shows the input mode and signal type on-screen when changing inputs. Set to ON or OFF.

• SCREEN SAVER: Helps prevent screen burn-in. Set to ON or OFF.

• WHITE BACK: Displays a full white screen to help reduce afterimage effect. Set to ON or OFF.

• VENTILATION MODE: Adjusts fan speed. Select H (horizontal mounting) or V (vertical mounting).

• WHITE BALANCE: Accesses the menu for fine-tuning white balance.

• all reset: Resets all Setup Menu settings to their defaults.

• HOUR METER: Displays the total hours of use (value x 100).

Connecting the Cables

1. Use the supplied remote control cables to connect the monitors in a daisy-chain fashion.

2. Connect the REMOTE CONTROL OUT terminal of the first monitor (Master) to the REMOTE CONTROL IN terminal of the second monitor (Slave 1).

3. Continue connecting the OUT of one monitor to the IN of the next. Do not connect the last monitor back to the first.

4. For wired remote operation, connect the remote control to the REMOTE CONTROL IN terminal of the Master monitor.

Assigning ID Numbers for Individual Control

1. Turn on all connected monitors.

2. On the wired remote, press MODE. “MASTER” will appear on the first monitor, and “[00]” will appear on all other (Slave) monitors.

3. Press ID SET. The Slave monitors will be assigned sequential ID numbers: [01], [02], [03], etc.

Operating Monitors Simultaneously

1. Press MODE until no ID numbers are shown on the screens.

2. Any operation performed with the remote control (e.g., adjusting contrast) will apply to all connected monitors simultaneously.

Operating Monitors Individually

1. Press MODE to display the ID numbers on all screens.

2. Press ID +/- to select the monitor you want to operate. The ID number of the selected monitor will be highlighted.

3. Perform any desired operation. It will only affect the selected monitor.

If the self-diagnostic lamps next to the power lamp light or flash red, it indicates an abnormal condition. Follow these steps:

1. Check which lamps are lighting or flashing. Note whether the Upper, Middle, or Lower lamp is steady on (Lights) or Flashing.

2. Turn off the MAIN POWER switch on the back of the monitor.

3. Unplug the power cord.

4. Call your dealer and inform them which lamps are lighting or flashing. You can use the “Self-diagnostic Report Sheet” in the manual to record the status.

Note: If you turn the monitor on soon after turning it off, the lamps may light and no image may appear. In this case, turn the monitor off, wait for about 10 seconds, then turn it on again. If the lamps do not light, you can use the monitor as usual.
