To use the IP Scanner, the Network Interface Card and the Internet Fax & Network Scan Kit must be installed on your IMAGISTICS IM2020. You will also need a LAN cable and a registered IP address. The LAN cable is not included and should be a Fast Ethernet 100BASE-TX (Category 5) cable.

The IP Scanner software is compatible with the following operating systems:

Windows® Me/Windows® 98/Windows® 95/Windows® 2000/Windows® NT4.0/Windows® XP

The minimum and recommended system requirements are as follows:

*For Windows® XP or Windows® 2000, 64 MB or more (128 MB recommended) is required.

You must specify the IP address of the IMAGISTICS IM2020 from the Basic Settings screen. Follow these steps:

1. Press the [Utility] key on the copier control panel.

2. Touch [Administrator Management].

3. Use the keypad to type in the administrator access code, and then touch [Enter].

4. Touch [Admin. 2].

5. Touch [Network Set].

6. Touch [Basic Setting].

7. Specify the settings described in the table below.

8. Touch [Enter].

After changing the settings, you must turn the unit off, then on again for the new settings to apply.

To connect your IMAGISTICS IM2020 to a LAN, use a LAN cable for Fast Ethernet 100BASE-TX (Category 5). The cable is not included.

Insert one plug on the LAN cable into the connector (marked LAN) at the back of the machine, and then insert the other plug into the hub.

Follow these steps to install the IP Scanner software:

1. Start up Windows, and then insert the utilities disk (CD-ROM) into the CD-ROM drive. The Installer dialog box should appear automatically.

2. Click the [GO] button beside “Install IP Scanner”.

3. In the “Welcome” dialog box, check the contents and click the [Next] button.

4. In the “Choose Destination Location” dialog box, confirm the installation folder and click the [Next] button. To change the folder, click [Browse…] and select a new location.

5. In the “Select Program Folder” dialog box, select the folder where the program icons will be registered, and then click the [Next] button. The installation will begin.

6. When the “Setup Complete” dialog box appears, click the [Finish] button.

7. In the main Installer dialog box, click the [Close] button.

8. If prompted, restart the computer to complete the installation. Click the [Yes] button to restart immediately.

Before beginning, ensure you have quit Image Receiver.

1. Click the [Start] button, point to [Settings], and then click [Control Panel].

2. Double-click the [Add or Remove Programs] icon.

3. Select “IP Scanner” from the list of installed software, and then click the [Add/Remove…] button.

4. In the confirmation dialog box, click the [Yes] button.

5. Restart the computer.

Before beginning, ensure you have quit Image Receiver.

1. Click the [Start] button, point to [Settings], and then click [Control Panel].

2. Double-click the [Add/Remove Programs] icon.

3. Select “IP Scanner” from the list of currently installed programs, and then click the [Change/Remove] button.

4. In the confirmation dialog box, click the [Yes] button.

5. Restart the computer.

The transmitted image is received by a program called Image Receiver and saved by IP Scanner as an image file in the “My Images” folder. When Image Receiver is running, its icon appears in the Windows taskbar. Normally, Image Receiver starts up automatically when Windows starts. If it has not started, you can start it manually by navigating to:

“Start” → “Programs” → “IP Scanner” → “Image Receiver”

When image data is being received, the icon in the Windows taskbar flashes.

The Sort Settings dialog box allows you to automatically organize received scans into folders.

The Divided Settings allow you to scan a batch of documents and have them automatically saved as separate files.

1. On the computer, start up the IP Scanner software by going to: “Start” → “Programs” → “IP Scanner” → “IP Scanner”.

2. If prompted, type in the IP address of your IMAGISTICS IM2020 and click the [OK] button. This is not required if the IP address has already been set.

3. The IP Scanner main window will appear. Check that the Image Receiver program has started up (its icon should be in the Windows taskbar).

4. In the main window, click the [Scanner Key Registration] button.

5. The Scanner Settings dialog box will appear. In the “Scanner Key Name” box, type in the name you want for the button.

6. Specify the settings for “Scan Area”, “Quality”, “Contrast”, file format, etc., as needed.

7. Click the [Scanner Key Registration] button within this dialog box.

8. A confirmation message “Scanner Key registered” will appear. Click [OK].

The scanner button is now programmed on the copier.

1. Position the document(s) you wish to scan on the glass or in the document feeder.

2. Press the [Extra Scan] key on the control panel.

3. Touch the scanner button on the screen that corresponds to the destination computer for the scan.

4. Press the [Start] key.

Note: Only one scanner button can be programmed from a single computer (with the same IP address). A maximum of six scanner buttons can be programmed on a copier. If the maximum is reached, you can delete a button from the touch panel by selecting it and touching [Del.].

In the main window of the IP Scanner software, select the image file you wish to view, and then double-click it. The default software on your computer for viewing TIFF or PDF files will start up and display the image.

The transmitted image is received by the Image Receiver program and saved by IP Scanner in the “My Images” folder. If the “Save folder as a key” check box was selected during setup, a new folder with the same name as the scanner button is created, and the image file is saved there.
