The HILTI SIW 6 AT-A22 is a hand-held cordless impact screwdriver designed for tightening and releasing nuts, bolts, anchors, and wood screws. It should only be used for applications that do not require a precise or specified torque, as there is a risk of over-tightening and damaging the bolt, screw, or workpiece.

This product must be used only with Hilti Li-ion batteries of the B18 / B22 series and Hilti battery chargers of the C4/36 series.

Always read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow them may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

Work area safety:

• Keep your work area clean and well lit.

• Do not operate the tool in explosive atmospheres, such as near flammable liquids, gases or dust.

• Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry.

Personal Safety:

• Only use the product if it is in perfect working order and do not tamper with or modify it.

• Always hold the power tool with both hands on the provided grips, keeping them clean and dry.

• Hold the tool by its insulated gripping surfaces, as the accessory tool may contact concealed wiring.

• Avoid touching rotating parts to prevent injury.

• Wear suitable protective glasses, a hard hat, ear protection, protective gloves, and light respiratory protection.

• Wear protective gloves when changing accessory tools, as they can be hot or sharp.

• Be aware of dust from materials like lead-based paint, certain woods, and stone containing quartz, which can be harmful. Ensure good ventilation and wear an appropriate respirator.

• Take breaks and do physical exercises to improve blood circulation in your fingers to prevent disorders from vibration exposure.

Electrical Safety:

• Before starting work, check the area for concealed electric cables or gas and water pipes.

Careful handling and use of power tools:

• Switch the power tool off immediately if the accessory tool jams.

• Wait until the power tool has come to a complete stop before setting it down.

• Observe the special guidelines for the transport, storage, and use of lithium-ion batteries.

• Do not expose batteries to high temperatures, direct sunlight, or fire.

• Do not disassemble, squash, or incinerate batteries, and do not subject them to temperatures over 80 °C.

• Do not attempt to charge or continue to use damaged batteries.

• If a battery is too hot to touch, it may be defective. Place the tool in a non-flammable location, away from flammable materials, keep it under observation, and allow it to cool down.

• Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer.

• When the battery is not in use, keep it away from metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, or screws that could make a connection between terminals.

• If liquid is ejected from the battery under abusive conditions, avoid contact. If contact occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, seek medical help.

Inserting the battery:

1. Push the battery into the battery holder until it engages with an audible click.

2. Check that the battery is seated securely.

Removing the battery:

1. Press the release buttons on the battery.

2. Pull the battery out toward the rear.

The belt hook allows the tool to be attached to a belt and can be fitted for left or right side attachment.

1. Insert the belt hook in the opening provided at the base of the screwdriver’s grip.

2. Secure the belt hook with the 2 screws. Ensure the heads of the screws are fully countersunk when tightened.

3. Check that the belt hook is fitted securely before beginning work.

Fitting an accessory tool:

Always use accessory tools of the locking type and do not use worn or damaged tools.

1. Clean the connection end of the accessory tool.

2. Set the forward/reverse switch to the middle position or remove the battery from the power tool.

3. Bring the notch in the accessory tool into alignment with the ball on the square drive.

4. Push the accessory tool onto the square drive until it engages.

5. Allow the accessory tool to engage and check that it is held securely.

Removing the accessory tool:

The accessory tool may be hot or have sharp edges. Always wear protective gloves.

1. Set the forward/reverse switch to the middle position or remove the battery from the power tool.

2. Pull the accessory tool off the square drive.

Operation without the intelligent torque module:

Push the torque selector button repeatedly until the desired torque setting is displayed in the torque display.

Operation with the intelligent torque module:

“AT” will light up in the torque display, indicating intelligent torque mode. On the intelligent torque module, set the correct type of anchor, threaded stud, or screw to be used. When “AT” is displayed, the torque selector switch on the tool is inoperative, and the speed and torque are regulated by the torque module.

Setting forward or reverse rotation:

Set the forward/reverse switch to the desired direction of rotation. An interlock prevents switching while the motor is running. The control switch is locked when the forward/reverse switch is in the middle position (safety lock).

Switching on:

Press the control switch. When operated without the intelligent torque module, the speed of rotation is regulated by how far you press the control switch. When operated with the intelligent torque module, the control switch works as a simple on/off switch, and the speed is controlled by the module.

Screwdriving:

Ensure the fastener and attachment can withstand the torque generated by the tool to avoid injury and damage. For operation without the intelligent torque module, move the forward/reverse switch to the middle, use the torque selector button to set the desired torque, then set the desired direction of rotation.

Switching off:

Release the control switch.

Always remove the battery before performing care and maintenance tasks to avoid electric shock, injury, and burns.

Care of the tool:

• Carefully remove any dirt adhering to parts.

• Clean the air vents carefully with a dry brush.

• Use only a slightly damp cloth to clean the casing. Do not use cleaning agents containing silicone as they may attack plastic parts.

Care of lithium-ion batteries:

• Keep the battery free from oil and grease.

• Use only a slightly damp cloth to clean the casing. Do not use cleaning agents containing silicone.

• Avoid ingress of moisture.

Maintenance:

• Regularly check all visible parts and controls for signs of damage and ensure they function correctly.

• Do not operate the tool if damage is found or if parts malfunction. Have it repaired by Hilti Service immediately.

• After cleaning and maintenance, refit all guards or protective devices and check their function.

Transport:

Always remove the battery before transporting the tool to prevent inadvertent starting. Transport the tool and batteries individually packaged. Never transport batteries in bulk (loose, unprotected). Check the tool and batteries for damage after long periods of transport.

Storage:

Always remove the battery before storing the tool. A leaking battery can cause damage.

• Store the tool and batteries in a cool, dry place.

• Never store batteries in direct sunlight, on heating units, or behind a window pane.

• Store the tool and batteries in a place inaccessible to children or unauthorized persons.

• Check the tool and batteries for damage before use after long periods of storage.

Improper disposal can be hazardous. The burning of plastic components can generate toxic fumes. Batteries may explode if damaged or exposed to high temperatures, causing poisoning, burns, or environmental pollution.

• Dispose of defective batteries right away. Keep them out of reach of children. Do not disassemble or incinerate batteries.

• Batteries that have reached the end of their life must be disposed of in accordance with national regulations or returned to Hilti.

Most materials from Hilti tools and appliances can be recycled. The materials must be correctly separated before they can be recycled. In many countries, your old tools, machines, or appliances can be returned to Hilti for recycling.

The battery may not be fully inserted. Push the battery in until it engages with an audible double click.

This could be due to a low battery or the battery being too hot or too cold.

• If the battery is low, change the battery and charge the empty one.

• If the battery is too hot or cold, bring it to the recommended operating temperature.

This can indicate two possible issues:

1. The power tool was overloaded briefly. To resolve this, release the control switch and then press it again.

2. The overheating cut-out has been activated. To resolve this, allow the power tool to cool down and clean the air vents.

The control switch is locked. This happens when the forward/reverse selector switch is in the middle position. Push the forward/reverse switch to the left or right to unlock it.

The battery is low. Change the battery and charge the empty battery.

The ambient temperature is very low. Allow the battery to warm up slowly to room temperature.

The retaining lugs on the battery are dirty. Clean the retaining lugs and push the battery in until it engages. If the problem persists, contact Hilti Service.

This could indicate an electrical fault or that the tool is overloaded because its application limits have been exceeded.

• For an electrical fault, switch the power tool off immediately, remove the battery, keep it under observation, allow it to cool down, and contact Hilti Service.

• If the tool is overloaded, select a suitable power tool for the application.
