Before operating your HEARTWAY S21FM scooter, please be aware of the following critical safety warnings:

1. Do not operate the scooter on public streets and roadways. Be aware that it may be difficult for traffic to see you. Obey all local pedestrian traffic rules.

2. To prevent injury, always ensure the power is switched off when getting on or off the scooter.

3. Always check that the drive wheels are engaged (drive mode) before driving. Do not switch off the power when the scooter is still moving forward, as this will cause an abrupt stop.

4. Do not use this product without first completely reading and understanding the instructions. If you are unable to understand the warnings, consult a healthcare professional or dealer.

5. Certain situations or medical conditions may require you to practice operating the scooter in the presence of a trained attendant.

6. Do not attempt to lift or move the scooter by any of its removable parts, including the seat or shrouds.

7. Never try to use your scooter beyond its limitations as described in the manual.

8. Do not sit on your scooter while it is in a moving vehicle.

9. Keep your hands away from the wheels (tires) while driving. Loose fitting clothing can become caught in the drive tires.

10. Don’t remove the anti-tipper if the scooter is equipped with one.

11. When climbing an incline, drive straight up the face of the incline. Do not drive at an angle, as this increases the possibility of a tip or fall.

12. Do not climb a slope steeper than the scooter’s limitation.

13. Do not attempt to have your scooter proceed backward down any step, curb, or other obstacle.

14. Always reduce your speed and maintain a stable center of gravity when cornering sharply. Do not corner sharply at higher speeds.

15. Operating in rain, snow, salt, mist, and on icy or slippery surfaces can adversely affect the electrical system.

16. Never sit on your scooter when it is being used with any type of lift or elevation product.

17. The motor surface can reach temperatures greater than 41°C after driving. Do not touch these parts when disassembling the scooter or wait until the motor has cooled down.

18. Drive wheels need to be in engaged-mode during transport by car or airplane.

19. PLEASE TURN OFF THE POWER BEFORE FOLDING/UNFOLDING POWER SCOOTER.

20. PINCH POINT-BE AWARE OF FINGERS WHEN FOLDING AND UN-FOLDING POWER SCOOTER.

For safe operation of your HEARTWAY S21FM, please follow these general guidelines:

• Always use a seat belt and keep your feet on the scooter at all times.

• Never operate the scooter while you are under the influence of alcohol.

• Never use electronic radio transmitters such as walkie-talkies or cellular phones while operating the scooter.

• Do not ride your scooter in traffic.

• Do not attempt to climb curbs greater than the limitation shown in the Technical Specification.

• Do not leave your hands and legs off the scooter when driving.

• Make sure that there are no obstacles behind you while reversing your scooter.

• Do not make a sharp turn or a sudden stop while riding your scooter.

• Do not ride your scooter during snow to avoid accidents on slippery roads.

• Do not allow unsupervised children to play near this equipment while the batteries are charging.

Unfold the scooter:

Use your toes to step on the red pressure plate on the side of the scooter and at the same time lift the upper handle upwards and unfold it.

Folding scooter:

Use your toes to step on the red pressure plate on the side of the scooter, pull out the red latch on the seat base at the same time, and push down the upper handle.

WARNING: PLEASE TURN OFF THE POWER BEFORE FOLDING/UNFOLDING. BE AWARE OF PINCH POINTS to avoid injury to your fingers.

The control panel on your HEARTWAY S21FM is simple to operate and includes the following functions:

• Battery Indicator: Shows the current charge level of the batteries.

• Reverse Indicator: A light that illuminates when the scooter is in reverse.

• Forward Indicator: A light that illuminates when the scooter is moving forward.

• Front Light Sensor: Automatically detects ambient light to turn the front light on or off.

• Manual Speed Adjuster: A knob to set the maximum speed of the scooter.

• Horn button: Press to sound the horn.

• Headlight Switch Button: Manually turns the headlight on or off.

• Finger Lever Control: Levers used to control the forward and backward movement and speed of the scooter. The maximum force applied on the lever is 4N.

Key On/Off

Press the tiller metal button until it reveals a red light illumination. Touch the sensor keyfob to the button and hear the buzz sound once. The metal button will then convert to blue illumination, indicating the power is on. The display indication light will flash three times. To turn the scooter off, press the blue illumination metal button.

Speed Control

Turn the adjuster knob clockwise towards maximum to increase your speed, and counter-clockwise toward minimum to slow down your speed. Always select a speed that is comfortable and safe for your environment.

Finger Lever Control

The finger lever controls the movement and speed. The deeper you press the finger lever for forward or backward motion, the faster the vehicle will go. When moving forward, the right orange light will be on. When in reverse, the left orange light will be on.

Your HEARTWAY S21FM is equipped with two braking systems for your safety:

Electromagnetic Brakes:

This is an automatic magnetic disc safety brake, also known as a Fail-Safe brake. The brakes are automatic and engage when the scooter is ON but in a steady state (i.e., the wigwag lever is released to the neutral position), even on a slope. The electromagnetic brakes will also be set whenever the scooter is OFF, provided the motor levers are in the engaged (vertical) position.

Parking brake:

An automatic parking brake function is included in the electromagnetic brake. The scooter will stop when the motor is engaged and the power switch is off, or when the power is on and the wigwag is in the neutral position. If the scooter is in freewheel mode (motor is disengaged), an attendant can engage the manual parking brake function by moving the engaging/disengaging lever back into the engaged position.

The controller on your HEARTWAY S21FM is equipped with a safety system called thermal rollback. A built-in circuit monitors the temperature of the controller and motor. In case of excessive heat, the controller will cut off the power to allow the electrical components to cool down. Although the scooter will resume its normal speed when the temperature returns to a safe level, it is recommended to wait for 5 minutes before restarting to allow the components to cool down completely.

The mass of the equipment is approximately 1.45kg.

To remove the battery box from your HEARTWAY S21FM, follow these steps:

A) Please lift the side cover.

B) Lift the battery box (1.45KG) after removing the side cover.

When reinstalling, make sure the battery connectors are connected properly.

Follow these instructions to safely charge your HEARTWAY S21FM:

1. Always charge your batteries in well-ventilated areas.

2. The charger is intended for indoor use only. Please protect it from moisture.

3. Use only the original charger supplied with your scooter. The use of any different type of charger can be hazardous.

4. Batteries can typically be fully charged in 4-10 hours, indicated when the status light on the charger turns green.

5. It is recommended that you charge the batteries for 8 to 10 hours after daily use. Do not charge for more than 24 hours.

6. If the scooter will not be used for a long period, arrange to have the batteries recharged at least once every month to avoid deterioration.

7. If batteries are weak, it is recommended that you replace both at the same time for maximum performance.

Note: Any charging method resulting in batteries being charged individually is prohibited.

Operating Instruction:

(1) Make sure the power cord, battery cable, and battery terminals are in good condition.

(2) Make sure the output voltage of the charger is the same as the voltage of the battery.

(3) Connect the connector of the battery charger to the connector of the battery.

(4) Make sure the input voltage is correct and plug it into the electrical outlet. Normally, the LED (orange) light will turn on when it is charging.

LED Indication:

• Red light on: Power on, but the charger is disconnected from the battery.

• Orange light on: Charging is in progress.

• Green light on: Fully charged.

The table below shows the charger’s behavior in different modes:

Follow these troubleshooting steps if you experience issues with your charger:

(1) RED light is off when power is on. Check if the input power cord of the charger is plugged into the socket, and if there is electricity from the outlet. If yes, the charger may need repair.

(2) ORANGE light is off during charging. Check if the charger and battery connectors are correctly connected. If they are in good connection and the battery is not fully charged, the battery may be defective.

(3) ORANGE light does not turn Green. The battery cannot be charged. Please remove the battery and check to see if the battery is still useable.

(4) ORANGE light turns Green immediately. Check to see if the battery is fully charged. If not, the charger may be defective and require repair.

Handling at assembly:

• In case of adding strong shock to the battery or dropping it, do not use the battery.

• In case of distorting the battery, do not use the battery.

Storage:

1) For long periods, it shall be kept in shipping condition (within 40%~60% SOC or 25V~26V voltage range).

2) It is recommended to inspect the battery pack every 6 months to ensure it is at the best status for long-term storage.

3) If the battery pack is out of the recommended storage condition, it shall be charged or discharged to the recommended level.

4) It shall be kept in a dry condition with low humidity, free from high temperature.

5) Do not store the battery near heat sources or in a place subject to direct sunlight.

Prohibition Clause:

1) Do not throw the battery into fire or heat the battery.

2) Do not disassemble or modify the battery pack.

3) Do not leave the battery in a place of high temperature (45°C or more).

4) Do not immerse the battery in water or leave it in high moisture.

5) Do not add strong shock or drop the battery.

6) Do not solder lead directly to the battery body.

7) Do not heat or solder the terminals of the battery.

To keep your S21FM in good working order, follow this routine maintenance schedule:

DAILY CHECKS

• Visual check on the conditions of the tires.

• Inspect the battery condition meter on the controller to determine if batteries need to be charged.

MONTHLY CHECKS

• Visually inspect the controller harnesses. Make sure that they are not frayed, cut, or have any exposed wires.

SEMI-ANNUAL CHECKS

• Check the motor brushes. It is recommended that your authorized dealer inspect the brushes every six months or sooner if your scooter is not operating smoothly. If inspection determines excessive wear, they must be replaced, or motor damage will result.

GENERAL CHECKS

• Keep the controller clean while protecting it from rain or water. Never hose off your scooter or place it in direct contact with water.

• Keep wheels free from lint, hair, sand, and carpet fibers.

• Visually inspect the tire tread. If less than 1mm (1/32″), have your tires replaced.

• Check the seat and back for sagging, cuts, and tears. Replace if necessary.

• Lubricate all moving mechanisms using petroleum jelly or light oil.

• Always perform a general inspection of the tightness of all nuts and bolts.

Cleaning:

Use a damp cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleanser to clean the plastic and metal parts of your power scooter. Avoid using products that may scratch the surface.

All upholstery can be washed with warm water and mild soap. Do not store your scooter in damp or humid conditions as this will lead to mildew and rapid deterioration of the upholstery parts.

Disinfection:

If necessary, clean your product with an approved disinfectant. Make sure the disinfectant is safe for use on your product before application. Follow all safety instructions for the proper use of the disinfectant and/or cleaning agent before applying it to your product. Failure to comply may result in skin irritation or premature deterioration of upholstery and/or power scooter finishes.

The DYNAMIC controller on your HEARTWAY S21FM monitors operating conditions. If it detects a problem, the status indicator on the power ON/OFF light will flash red. Count the number of flashes to identify the error type using the table below.

The following symptoms could indicate a serious problem with your power scooter. Contact your local dealer if any of the following arises:

1. Motor noise

2. Frayed harnesses

3. Cracked or broken connectors

4. Uneven wear on any of tires

5. Jerky motion

6. Pulling to one side

7. Bent or broken wheel assemblies

8. Does not power up

9. Powers up, but does not move

Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) comes from electromagnetic (EM) radio waves emitted by sources like television, radio, and communication signals (e.g., radio stations, TV stations, two-way radios, cellular phones). All power scooters are susceptible to EMI to varying degrees.

Interference from these sources can cause your HEARTWAY S21FM to:

• Release its brakes.

• Move by itself.

• Move in unintended directions.

It can also permanently damage the scooter’s control system. Your scooter has an immunity level of at least 20 V/m, which provides protection against common sources of radiated EMI.

If you experience unintended movement or brake release, you should turn off your powered scooter as soon as it is safe to do so. The following precautions should reduce the chance of EMI-related incidents:

1. Do not turn on hand-held personal communication devices, such as citizens band (CB) radios and cellular phones, while the powered scooter is turned on.

2. Be aware of nearby transmitters such as radio or TV stations and try to avoid coming close to them.

3. Be aware that adding accessories or components, or modifying the powered scooter, may make it more susceptible to interference from radio wave sources.

4. Report all incidents of unintended movement or brake release to the powered scooter manufacturer, and note whether there is a radio wave source nearby.

TURN OFF YOUR POWERED SCOOTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WHEN EXPERIENCING THE FOLLOWING:

• Unintentional scooter movements.

• Unintended or uncontrollable direction.

• Unexpected brake release.
