How is the EBUW 232 inserted into the system?
The EBUW has just to be inserted between the EASY BUS converter and the requesting device (MODEM, PC, …).
Is an additional power supply compulsory for the EBUW 232?
An additional power supply is not compulsory, the device taps from the RS232 voltages of the requesting device.
What should be done if the power from the RS232 interface is not enough?
At using devices with weak RS232 signals (e.g. some laptops) it will be possible that the power from the interface is not enough. In this case an external power supply may be necessary.
What are the connection types for the EBUW 232?
The connection types are 9 pin Sub-D-socket resp.. Sub-D-plug.
What is the socket assignment for the EBUW 232?
The socket assignment is standard RS232.
What is the plug assignment for the EBUW 232?
The plug assignment is Pin 2 – 8: standard RS232, Pin 1: external supply.
How does the EBUW 232 receive its supply voltage?
The EBUW 232 taps from the RS232 voltages of the requesting device or from external supply.
How does the EBUW 232 receive supply via its interface?
Supply is provided via the interface lines DTR (Pin 4) and RTS (Pin 7).
For operation the lines must have a voltage level >5V.
What are the specifications for external power supply for the EBUW 232?
The external power supply specifications are 6 – 12 V DC, max. 10 mA, via Sub-D-plug (+Ub = Pin 1, GND = Pin 5).
What is the working temperature range for the EBUW 232?
The working temperature range is 0 to 50°C.
What is the relative humidity range for the EBUW 232?
The relative humidity range is 0 to 80% r.h. (non condensing).
What is the storage temperature range for the EBUW 232?
The storage temperature range is -20 to 70°C.
What are the dimensions of the EBUW 232?
The dimensions are 63 * 34 * 17 mm (B * H * T).
What is the approximate weight of the EBUW 232?
The approximate weight is 26 g.
What are the EMC compliance details for the EBUW 232?
The device corresponds to the essential protection ratings established in the Regulations of the Council for the Approximation of Legislation for the member countries regarding electromagnetic compatibility (89/336/EWG).
How can trouble-free operation and reliability of the device be guaranteed?
Trouble-free operation and reliability of the device can only be guaranteed if the device is not subjected to any other climatic conditions than those stated under “Specification”.
What should be done before opening the device?
Prior to opening it, disconnect device and supply voltage source. Make sure that all parts of the device are protected against direct touching when mounting the device and setting its connections.
What standard safety regulations should be observed?
Please always adhere to the standard safety regulations for electric devices, power systems and light-current installations, and make sure that your national safety regulations (e.g. VDE 0100) are observed.
What precautions should be taken when connecting the device to other devices?
If device is to be connected to other devices (e.g. PC) the circuitry has to be designed most carefully. Internal connection in third party devices may result in not-permissible voltages.
What should be done if there is a risk involved in running the device?
If there is a risk whatsoever involved in running it, the device has to be switched off immediately and to be marked accordingly to avoid re-starting.
When is operator safety at risk?
Operator safety may be at risk if:
– there is visible damage to the device
– the device is not working as specified
– the device has been stored under unsuitable conditions for a longer time.
In case of doubt, please return device to manufacturer for repair or maintenance.
Can this product be used as a safety or emergency stop device?
