To install the Dry Boxes on your FLASHFORGE AD5X, you will need to 3D print the following parts:

Dry Box Base (x4)

Dry Box Top (x4)

Dry Box Tray (x4)

Sealing Plug (x8)

IFS Bracket Spacer (x1) – Required for Installation Option 1

Dry Box Stand (x4) – Required for Installation Option 2

Note: You must download the files for these parts to print them.

The accessory package for the FLASHFORGE AD5X Dry Box installation includes the following items:

Thermo-Hygrometer (x4)

Short Filament Guide Tube (x2)

Long Filament Guide Tube (x2)

Sealing Ring (x4)

Desiccant (x16)

M3 Nut (x8)

Screw M3x14 (x4)

Screw M3x10 (x8)

Screw M3x12 (x8) – For AD5X’s Enclosed Version

Follow these steps to assemble a Dry Box for your FLASHFORGE AD5X:

Step 1. Place four packs of desiccant into the recesses inside the dry box top.

Step 2. Align the dry box tray with the four posts of the dry box top. Press down and rotate it clockwise to secure it.

Step 3. Press the thermo-hygrometer down into the slot on the dry box top.

Step 4. Press the sealing ring into the groove along the edge of the dry box base.

Step 5. Insert the sealing plugs into the holes on both sides of the dry box. Then, snap the plug caps into place.

To prepare your FLASHFORGE AD5X for the side-mounted setup, you must first modify the existing brackets.

Step 1. Rotate the IFS module counterclockwise until you hear a “click,” and then pull it out. Set it aside.

Step 2. Remove the IFS bracket from the printer.

Step 3. Press two M3 nuts into the holes on the 3D printed IFS bracket spacer.

Step 4. Secure the original IFS bracket to the spacer using two M3x14 screws.

Step 5. Secure the IFS bracket spacer assembly onto the printer using two M3x14 screws.

Step 6. Lift and remove the four spool holders.

Step 7. Remove the four spool holder hooks.

Follow these steps to install the Dry Boxes in the side-mounted configuration:

Step 1. Align a spool holder hook with the holes on the dry box base and secure it with two M3x10 screws.

Step 2. Secure the dry box base to the printer.

Step 3. Snap the spool holder back into place inside the dry box base.

Step 4. Open the sealing plug on the dry box and thread the filament through it from the inside out.

Step 5. Place the filament spool onto the spool holder.

Step 6. Install the dry box top onto the base by rotating it counterclockwise to lock it.

Step 7. Press the filament guide tube clips on the IFS module and use pliers to pull out the old guide tubes.

Step 8. Install the new short guide tubes into Holes 1 and 4, and the long guide tubes into Holes 2 and 3.

Step 9. Re-install the IFS module back onto the printer.

Step 10. Thread the filament through the new guide tube and feed it into the printer.

Step 11. Insert the guide tube into the sealing plug to complete the installation of the first Dry Box.

Step 12. Repeat all steps to assemble and install Dry Boxes 2, 3, and 4.

To assemble a Dry Box for the desktop configuration, follow these steps:

Step 1. Press two M3 nuts into the holes on the dry box base.

Step 2. Align the spool holder hook with the holes on the dry box base and secure it with two M3x6 screws.

Step 3. Install the spool holder back into the base.

Step 4. Open the sealing plug, thread the filament through it from the inside out, and then place the filament spool onto the spool holder.

Step 5. Install the assembled dry box top onto the base by rotating it counterclockwise.

Step 1. After assembling a Dry Box, place it onto one of the 3D printed dry box stands.

Step 2. Repeat the same assembly steps for all four dry boxes.

Step 3. Place all four assembled dry boxes on their stands on the right side of the FLASHFORGE AD5X printer.
