Before Starting?
- Please read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference.
- Use the camera within given temperature and electrical limits.
- Do not mount the camera where it is exposed to rain or other moisture, or in humid or dusty places.
- Do not point the camera at the sun. Heat could damage the camera, even when not in use.
- Do not mount the camera in areas exposed to radiation, strong magnetic fields, or strong electrical signals.
- Do not open or disassemble the camera. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
- Do not drop the camera or subject it to strong vibrations.
- For OSD programming, see separate OSD programming manual.
How do I install the camera?
- Run a 12VDC power supply wire and a video cable with a male BNC connector through the wall to where the camera will be mounted.
- Connect the camera’s video and power cables.
- Temporarily mount the camera to test its function and display.
- Do a preliminary test of the camera to ensure it will work properly.
- Program the camera if needed via the attached OSD joystick. For OSD programming, see separate OSD programming manual.
- EV-6680 Series Only: The motion-activated LED is tied to the motion detection feature in the OSD. To turn this feature ON or OFF, see page 9 of the OSD manual.
- Partially screw a screw into the wall where the top of the bracket should go. Slide the bracket onto the screw. Finish securing the top of the bracket to the wall.
- Secure the bottom of the bracket to the wall.
- Attach the mounting bracket ball to the mounting bracket by gently pushing the ball into the bracket.
- Attach the camera to the assembled bracket by sliding the camera downward.
- Do a final test of the video camera and monitor.
What should I do if the screen is blank?
- Check that the camera is powered up.
- Check that the power supply’s polarity is correct.
- Check that the monitor is powered up.
- Check that the video cable connecting the camera to the monitor is connected properly.
What should I do if the screen image is dim?
- Clean the lens using a soft, clean cloth.
- Check that the light source is adequate.
- Check that the IR LEDs turn on when light is low (EV-6681-N3WQ and EV-6681-P3WQ only)
What should I do if the screen image has poor contrast?
- Adjust the monitor’s contrast knob.
- Change the position of the camera.
What should I do if the screen image flickers?
- Change the position of the camera.
What should I do if the screen image is distorted?
- Change the position of the camera.
What should I do if the camera case is hot?
- Check that the correct power supply is in use.
What warnings are there about using this camera?
Stop using the camera if you see a malfunction such as smoke or unusual heat, as it could cause fire or electric shock. Do not open the case of this device, as there are no user-serviceable components inside.
