How should the packaging be handled?

Remove the carton carefully. Wear gloves to protect against sharp edges. Remove the protective film covering the product before putting it into operation.

What is this appliance designed for?

This appliance is designed exclusively for indoor, residential use. It is for general ventilating use only. Do not use it to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapours.

What safety precautions should be taken before servicing or cleaning the unit?

Switch power off at the service panel and lock the service disconnecting means to prevent power from being switched on accidentally. If the service disconnecting means cannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag, to the service panel.

Who should perform installation work and electrical wiring?

Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by qualified person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction. Ensure sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to prevent back drafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer’s guidelines and safety standards (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE) and local codes.

What precautions should be taken when cutting or drilling into walls or ceilings?

Do not damage electrical wiring and other hidden utilities.

Where must ducted fans be vented?

Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors. To reduce the risk of fire and to properly exhaust air, be sure to duct air outside. Do not vent exhaust air into spaces within walls or ceilings, attics, crawl spaces, or garages.

Can this fan be used with a solid-state speed control device?

No, to reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not use this fan with any solid-state speed control device.

What type of ductwork should be used?

To reduce the risk of fire, use only metal ductwork.

How should the hood be disconnected before cleaning or maintenance?

Disconnect the hood from the mains by removing the plug or disconnecting the mains electrical supply.

How can the risk of a range top grease fire be reduced?

a) Never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite. Heat oils slowly on low or medium settings.

b) Always turn hood ON when cooking at high heat. Do not flambé food under the hood.

c) Clean ventilating fans frequently (at least once every two months). Grease should not be allowed to accumulate on fan or filter.

d) Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for the size of the surface element.


What should be done in the event of a range top grease fire?

a) SMOTHER FLAMES with a close-fitting lid, cookie sheet, or metal tray, then turn off the burner. BE CAREFUL TO PREVENT BURNS. If the flames do not go out immediately, EVACUATE AND CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.

b) NEVER PICK UP A FLAMING PAN – You may be burned.

c) DO NOT USE WATER, including wet dishcloths or towels – a violent steam explosion will result.

d) Use an extinguisher ONLY if:

• You know you have a Class ABC extinguisher, and you already know how to operate it.

• The fire is small and contained in the area where it started.

• The fire department is being called.

• You can fight the fire with your back to an exit.

Can persons with reduced capabilities or children use this appliance?

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

What happens if screws or mounting devices are placed incorrectly during installation?

Incorrect placement of screws or fasteners or mounting devices according to these instructions may result in electrical hazards.

Can replacement parts not recommended by the manufacturer be used?

No. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, do not use replacement parts that have not been recommended by the manufacturer (e.g., parts made at home using a 3D printer).

Must this appliance be installed with specific parts?

Yes. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, this appliance must be installed with the part(s) that are marked to indicate suitability with this model. Other part(s) cannot be substituted. Consult the accessories and consumable parts section for details.

What are the electrical and installation requirements?

• Observe all governing codes and ordinances.

• It is the customer’s responsibility to contact a qualified electrical installer and ensure the installation is adequate and conforms with National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70), CSA Standards (C22.1-94, C22.2 No.O-M91), and all local codes.

• The range hood must be connected with copper wire only.

• Connect directly to the fused disconnect (or circuit breaker) box through metal electrical conduit.

• Wire sizes must conform to requirements.

• A U.L.- or C.S.A.-listed conduit connector must be provided at each end of the power supply conduit.

• The appliance must be grounded. Plug into a properly installed and grounded outlet. Do not ground to a gas pipe. Do not use an extension cord. Consult a qualified electrician if grounding is uncertain.

• Do not have a fuse in the neutral or ground circuit.

• If the power cord is damaged, do not attempt repair; contact a service center or technician.

• Requirement: 120 V~, 60 Hz. 15 or 20 A Branch Circuit.


What are the venting requirements?

• Vent unit to the outside of the building only.

• For the most efficient air flow, use a straight run or as few elbows as possible.

• Use only metal ductwork. Do not use flex ducting.

• Connect the hood and discharge holes with a diameter equivalent to the air outlet (connection flange).

• Using smaller tubes/holes will decrease suction and increase noise.

• Use a duct of the minimum indispensable length.

• Use a duct with as few elbows as possible (maximum elbow angle: 90°).

• Avoid drastic changes in the duct cross-section.

• Cold weather installations should have an additional backdraft damper and a nonmetallic thermal break installed on the cold air side of the thermal break, as close as possible to where the ducting enters the heated portion of the house.

• Local building codes may require Make-Up Air Systems for ventilation systems greater than a specified CFM. Consult your HVAC professional.


What are the installation requirements regarding the ceiling and structure?

• The hood is designed for installation in a dropped ceiling.

• The ceiling must be flat, horizontal, sturdy, and resistant.

• The false ceiling must be robust and have a load capacity suitable for the product’s weight (38 kg for 40″ models, 58 kg for 60″ models).

• Do not install the hood directly in dropped ceiling panels; use a suitable frame or support constructed from wood or metal.

• The support structure must be securely fastened to the roof and capable of supporting three times the product weight.

• Do not cut a joist or stud unless absolutely necessary; if cut, a supporting frame must be constructed.

• Installation must be performed by qualified installers/specialised personnel.

• Do not install insulation within 76 mm (3 in) of any part of the rangehood.

• Ensure proper clearance within the ceiling or wall for the exhaust vent before making cutouts.


What is the recommended installation height above the cooktop?

• For gas ranges: Mount the hood so the bottom edge is at 39″ (99 cm) above the cooking surface.

• For electric ranges: Mount the hood so the bottom edge is not less than 30″ (76.2 cm) above the cooking surface.

Check your ceiling height and the hood height maximum before selecting your hood.


Can a custom panel be installed?

Yes, you can change the panel for a customized one. It is recommended to use fireproof gypsum board panels (type X fire rated gypsum board complying with ASTM E84), suitable for operating conditions (at least 80°C temperature, at least 93% humidity).

Maximum panel weight: ECEX40SS is 4.1 kg / 9.03 lb; ECEX60SS is 8.2 kg / 18.07 lb.

The panel must fit within the perimeter plate margin and match the dimensions of the hood’s plate.

Follow these steps:

1. Open the plate and remove the 2 screws from each of the 2 hinges holding it.

2. Remove the plate from the hood. Remove the screws attaching the original panel to the plate (ECEX40SS: 6 screws, ECEX60SS: 12 screws).

3. Install the custom panel (minimum 9mm thickness) in place of the original plate using the screws removed earlier. If required, a hole can be drilled in the center of the panel and screwed in.

4. Replace the plate assembly onto the hood, fastening the 4 hinge screws, and close the plate.


How to pre-install the hood for In-Line and External Kits?

Note: First, install the hood motor by consulting the manual included with the motor kit.

1. Place the hood face up on a flat surface.

2. Open the hood cover(s) by pulling outward (ECEX40SS: 1 cover, ECEX60SS: 2 covers).

3. Remove the grease filters by pressing the retaining clip.

4. Remove the 2 screws from the plate on the right side of the hood to access the junction box.

5. Remove the knockout next to the motor cable. Feed the kit’s wiring harness through this hole from the inside out.

6. Remove the knockout at the bottom of the junction box.

7. Feed the other end of the kit’s cable through the bottom knockout and strain relief into the junction box.

8. Close the junction box cover.

9. Splice the wires from the harness and the kit wires inside the rear junction box.

10. Connect the bell motor cable to the harness inside the bell. Wire connections: Black to black, Gray to gray, Blue to blue, Red to red, White to white.

11. Close the junction box cover and proceed with the installation of the kit (refer to the kit’s installation manual).


How to pre-install the hood for Internal Motor Installation (Kit)?

Note: The internal motor kit is not included and must be purchased separately.

1. Remove the 8 screws holding the box from inside the hood.

2. Using 2 or more people, remove the hood from the box and set it aside.

3. Determine which air outlet(s) will be used based on the motor type:

• Single motor (600 CFM): A, B, C, D, or E.

• Dual engine (1200 CFM): A, B, or D.

4. Once the outlet is determined, position the motor. With 2 people, screw the motor to the box using 4 screws (6 x 16mm), placing the motor connector towards the opposite side of the installation.

5. Reposition the hood and screw it to fix the box.

6. Connect the motor cable to the hood cable.

7. Put the grease filters back in place and close the perimeter plate.


How to install the hood?

Note: A minimum of 3 people are required. Exhaust duct and duct connections must be installed before placing the hood on the ceiling.

1. Remove the 2 screws from the plate on the right side of the hood to access the junction box.

2. Remove the screw holding the junction box.

3. Remove the pre-cutting inside the junction box. Temporarily close the hood cover.

4. Determine the air outlet according to your setup. Place the hood upside down and install the required transition (6″ or 8″) using the provided screws (two 3.5 x 9.5 mm for 6″, four for 8″).

5. Lift the hood to the ceiling.

6. Place the duct of your domestic installation onto the previously installed transition on the hood.

7. Pass the connection conduit from your domestic electrical installation through the pre-cut opening in the hood junction box.

8. Lift the hood fully to attach it to the ceiling structure. Push until the retaining clips click above the ceiling support frame.

9. To adjust and secure the hood: Two people should push up on the hood while a third person turns the adjusting screws (ECEX40SS: 4 screws, ECEX60SS: 8 screws) clockwise using a 3/16″ allen wrench, until the hood is tight against the ceiling.

10. Make the general electrical supply connection:

• Connect the black wire from the hood to the black wire from the installation area wiring (L).

• Connect the 2 white wires from the hood to the white wire of the installation area wiring (N).

• Connect the green/yellow wire from the hood to the ground wire of the installation area (+).

11. Once the electrical connection is complete, replace the junction box cover and reinstall the plate covering the junction box.

12. Turn on the power switch located inside the hood (refer to picture in PDF) and put the grease filters back in place.

13. Place the plugs (ECEX40SS: 4 plugs, ECEX60SS: 8 plugs) to cover the adjusting screws.


How does the remote control work?

Affiliation: Connect the hood to the mains. During the first minute, press buttons B + E simultaneously for 5 seconds. If unsuccessful, disconnect/reconnect the hood from the mains and repeat.

Hood Start-up / Speed Increase: Click button B.

Timed Delayed Shutdown: Press button B for 2 seconds (uses the current speed).

Speed Decrease / Turn Off Bell: Click button C.

Turn Off Hood: Press button C for 2 seconds.

Light Switch-On: Click button E.

Adjust Light Intensity: Press button E for 2 seconds.

Ambient Light On: Click button D*.

Adjust Ambient Light Intensity: Press button D* for more than 2 seconds.

Adjust Illumination Tone (Warm/Cold Light): Press buttons D + E simultaneously for more than 2 seconds.

Reset Filters: Press buttons C + E simultaneously for 2 seconds.

Assign New Remote Code: Press buttons A + D + E simultaneously for 2 seconds.

Deactivate Grease Filter Saturation Light: Press buttons A + B + C simultaneously for 2 seconds and wait 10 seconds to save the settings.


What do the LED indicators on the remote control mean?

Permanent white: Data transmission

Permanent red: Battery discharged

Flashing red: On load > low power level

Flashing green: On load > high energy level

Permanent green: Battery charged


How do I recharge the remote control?

Connect the USB cable supplied with the control to a certified 5 Volt socket. Wait for the LED to turn solid green, indicating it is charged.

What should I do if the remote control fails or doesn’t connect?

First, try recharging the remote. If it still fails, follow the New Code Assignment procedure (press A + D + E simultaneously for 2 seconds). Then, disconnect the hood from the mains power supply, reconnect it, and repeat the Affiliation procedure (press B + E simultaneously for 5 seconds within the first minute of power connection). If the remote control does not link to the hood, charge the control with its included USB cable for at least 30 min. with a 5V USB charger and check if it reacts to manipulation, then charge the control for 6 hours for proper operation. If it still does not link, use the function to generate a new code (A+D+E) and try to link it again (B+E).

What happens when higher speeds (Speed 4 or 5) are selected?

Speed 4 (and Speed 5, where applicable), if selected, will activate for a limited period of time, after which Speed 2 is automatically enabled.

What are the timed shutdown durations programmed via the remote control?

Delayed shut-down can be programmed based on the aspiration speed (power) enabled at that moment:

• Speed 1 (low aspiration): 20 minutes

• Speed 2 (medium aspiration): 15 minutes

• Speed 3 (high aspiration): 10 minutes


How do the filter saturation indicator lights on the hood work?

At regular intervals, the LEDs on the hood indicate the need for filter maintenance. This signal is visible for a few seconds when the hood is switched on. The indicators must be reset within this time.

• Flashing Green LED: Carry out maintenance on the grease filter.

• Flashing Red LED: Carry out maintenance on the charcoal filter (only applicable for hoods operating in Filtration Version).

To reset the indicators, run the “RESET FILTRES” command via the remote control (Press C + E simultaneously for 2 seconds).

How can the filter saturation indicator light be activated or deactivated?

Run this procedure with the hood switched off. The charcoal filter saturation indicator light is usually deactivated by default.

1. Press and hold the B + C keys simultaneously to enter the setup menu.

2. Briefly press button C to select the filter type to set up:

• Grease filter: Green LED

• Charcoal filter: Red LED

3. Briefly press button B to activate the indicator (the 2nd LED will flash) or deactivate it (the 2nd LED will be off).

The LEDs will light up for a limited number of seconds, then turn off to indicate the setting has been saved. If no control is given within 10 seconds, the hood automatically exits this function.

What safety precautions should be taken with the remote control?

Use the remote control with care; it contains delicate electronic parts. Avoid dropping, burning, piercing, crushing, or contact with liquid substances. Do not open or disassemble the remote control, as it may be damaged. Do not attempt to replace the battery yourself.

How should the hood be cleaned?

Clean using ONLY a cloth dampened with neutral liquid detergent. DO NOT CLEAN WITH TOOLS OR INSTRUMENTS. Do not use abrasive products. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL!

When should the perimeter suction panel be opened?

The panel for perimeter suction should always be left closed during normal operation. It should only be opened for maintenance interventions, such as cleaning or replacing filters.

How should the grease filter be maintained?

The grease filter traps cooking grease particles.

• Cleaning Frequency: Clean once a month, or when the filter saturation indication system (if available on your model) indicates the necessity.

• Cleaning Method: Use non-aggressive detergents. Clean either by hand or in the dishwasher (set to a low temperature and a short cycle).

• Note on Dishwashing: The grease filter may discolor slightly when washed in a dishwasher, but this does not affect its filtering capacity.

• Removal: To remove the grease filter, pull the spring release handle.


How are the lamps replaced?

The hood is equipped with a lighting system based on LED technology (2×14 W LED). LEDs provide optimum lighting, last up to 10 times longer than traditional lamps, and save 90% electrical energy. For replacement, contact the technical service.

How can the hood be removed after installation?

1. Remove the caps covering the adjustment screws. Use a jeweler’s screwdriver in the slot carefully to avoid damaging the hood.

2. Using 3 or more people, loosen the adjusting screws by turning them counterclockwise with the 3/16″ allen wrench. CAUTION: It is important that 2 people hold the hood securely while another person loosens the screws to prevent accidents.


Troubleshooting Guide

Problem Possible causes Solutions
After installation, the unit does not work. The power line and the cable locking connector are not connected correctly. Check that the electrical connection to the hood is connected correctly.
The motor is defective. Replace the motor.
The light works but the motor does not turn. The thermal protection system detects if the motor is too hot to run and shuts it off. The motor will operate correctly after the thermally protected system has cooled down.
The motor cable is not connected. Make sure that the motor cable is connected correctly.
The motor is not fixed in place. Secure the motor in place.
The unit is vibrating. Blower damaged. Replace the blower.
The hood is not fixed in place. Check the hood installation.
The motor is working, but the lights are not. Defective lamp. Replace the lamp.
Loose lamp. Tighten the lamp.
The light switch wires are loose. Check that the light switch wires are connected correctly.
The remote control does not link to the hood. Low battery Charge the control with its included USB cable for at least 30 min. with a 5V USB charger and check if it reacts to manipulation, then charge the control for 6 hours for proper operation.
It is unlinked Follow the procedure indicated in the remote control manual to link it to the hood (B+E). If it does not work, use the function to generate new code (A+D+E) and try to link it again.

What should I do before contacting Customer Service?

1. Check the “Troubleshooting” guide to see if you can solve the problem yourself.

2. Switch the device off and then on again to see if the problem resolves itself.

If the fault persists after these checks, contact the nearest Customer Service.


What information is needed when contacting Customer Service?

To ensure prompt service, please provide the following information found on the nameplate inside the hood (remove the grease filters to access it):

• Date of purchase (from original invoice)

You must present proof of the original purchase date. Keep a copy of your dated proof of purchase (sales slip). Contact the appropriate service center for your region:
