Please observe the following safety precautions when using the EIKI EK-120U projector:

The projector must be grounded.

Do not expose the projector to rain or high humidity to avoid fire or electric shock.

The projector produces intense light from the lens. Avoid staring directly into the lens to prevent eye damage. Be especially careful that children do not stare directly into the beam.

Place the projector in a proper position to avoid fire hazards.

Leave adequate space for ventilation to cool the projector. The minimum distances are: 0.7′ (20cm) on the side, 1.5′ (50cm) on the top, and 3′ (1m) at the rear.

Do not cover the ventilation slots.

Remove the AC power plug if the projector will not be used for a long time.

Do not project the same image for a long time to avoid a residual image on the LCD panel.

Do not set the projector in greasy, wet, or smoky conditions.

The mains plug/appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device and should remain readily operable.

This product contains mercury. Dispose of or recycle in accordance with applicable laws.

Hot air is exhausted from the exhaust vent of the EIKI EK-120U. To ensure proper ventilation and prevent overheating, please follow these precautions:

Do not put any flammable objects or spray cans near the projector.

Keep the exhaust vent at least 1m away from any objects.

Do not touch the area around the exhaust vent, as it becomes hot during use.

Do not place anything on top of the projector, as this can cause heat damage and fire hazards.

The projector has cooling fans, and their speed changes according to the internal temperature.

Moving the Projector:

When moving the projector, retract the adjustable feet to prevent damage to the lens and cabinet.

Do not drop or bump the projector, as this may cause damage or malfunctions.

When carrying the projector, use a suitable carrying case.

Do not transport the projector in an unsuitable case, and ensure it is fully cooled before placing it in a case.

Installing the Projector Properly:

Set the projector on a nearly-level surface.

Do not roll the projector more than 10° from side to side.

Do not pitch the projector more than 10° backward and forward.

Do not point the projector up or down to project an image.

Do not put the projector on its side to project an image.

Ceiling Installation:

Only qualified personnel should perform ceiling installation.

Remove the ceiling bracket immediately when not in use.

When installing, a torque screwdriver is suggested. Do not use an electric or impact-type screwdriver.

Please read the manual of the bracket for details.

1. WARNING indicator: Flashes red when the internal projector temperature is beyond the operating range.

2. POWER indicator:

Lights red when the projector is in stand-by mode.

Lights green during normal operations.

Flashes green during Power management mode.

Flashes red during fan cooling.

Turns steady green-yellow when the power is abnormal.

3. ▲ / ▼ / ◀ / ▶ /UP/DOWN/VOL+/VOL- buttons:

Select an item or adjust the value in the screen menu.

Select the image display area in D.zoom + mode.

Increase or decrease volume.

4. MENU button: Open or close the screen menu.

5. POWER button: Turn on/off the projector.

6. OK button: Enter menu operation or execute the selected item.

7. INPUT button: Select an input source.

The remote control for the EIKI EK-120U has the following functions:

POWER: Turn on or turn off the projector.

INPUT: Open or close the input source menu.

VGA: Select “Computer 1” as the input source.

VIDEO: Select “Video” as the input source.

HDMI: Select “HDMI” as the input source.

AUTO: Enter auto setup adjust mode.

MENU: Open or close the screen menu.

Arrow buttons (▲▼◀▶): Select items, adjust values, or select the image display area in digital zoom + mode.

OK: Enter the menu or select an item in the menu.

KEYSTONE: Correct keystone distortion.

IMAGE: Select the image mode.

FREEZE: Freeze the projected image.

PATTERN: Set the internal test image. (Invalid for USB display, Memory viewer, and Network inputs).

SCREEN: Select the screen size.

LAMP: Select the lamp mode.

MUTE: Turn off the volume.

INFO: Display the projector information.

D.ZOOM +/-: Digital zoom in/out.

VOLUME +/-: Increase/decrease the volume.

BLANK: Temporarily black out the image on the screen.

TIMER: Enable the timer function.

1. Open the battery cover on the back of the remote control.

2. Install two (2) new AAA or LR3 type alkaline batteries. Ensure correct polarity (+ and -) by matching the battery terminals with the pins in the compartment.

3. Put the cover back on.

For safe operation, please observe the following precautions:

Always replace batteries in sets.

Do not use a new battery with a used battery.

Avoid contact with water or liquid matter.

Do not expose the remote control to moisture or heat.

Do not drop the remote control.

If the battery has leaked, carefully wipe the case clean and install new batteries.

Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations or guides.

The projector’s height can be adjusted up to 40 mm (10 degrees) using the adjustable foot.

To lift the projector to a certain height, rotate the adjustable foot clockwise.

To lower or retract the adjustable foot, rotate it counterclockwise.

Keystone distortion of projected images can be corrected by auto settings, remote control operation, or menu operation after adjusting the height.

The projection distance for the EIKI EK-120U depends on the model (WXGA or WUXGA) and the desired screen size. All measurements are approximate. The data in “()” is the project distance for a 16:9 aspect ratio.

WXGA / WUXGA model (16:10 Aspect Ratio)

WXGA / WUXGA model (16:9 Aspect Ratio)

Before connecting any cables, ensure the power cords of both the projector and the computer are unplugged from the AC outlet.

For Analog RGB (VGA):

1. Connect one end of a VGA cable to the VGA output port on your computer.

2. Connect the other end of the VGA cable to the VGA IN terminal on the projector.

For Digital (HDMI):

1. Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI output port on your computer.

2. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to either the HDMI1 or HDMI2 terminal on the projector.

For Serial Control (RS-232C):

1. Connect a serial (crossover type) cable to the serial port on your computer.

2. Connect the other end to the RS-232C terminal on the projector.

First, unplug the power cords of both the projector and the external video equipment from the AC outlet.

Using a Video Cable (Composite):

1. Connect one end of a video cable to the video output jack on your video equipment.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to the VIDEO IN terminal on the projector.

Using an HDMI Cable:

1. Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI output jack on your video equipment.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to the HDMI1 or HDMI2 terminal on the projector.

Ensure the power cords for all equipment are unplugged before connecting audio cables.

Connecting Audio Input from a Computer or Video Source:

1. Use an audio cable to connect the audio output from your source device (e.g., computer, DVD player).

2. Connect the other end of the audio cable to the AUDIO IN jack on the projector. For a mono signal with a single audio jack, connect it to the L/MONO jack.

Connecting Audio Output to an Amplifier/Speakers:

1. Use an audio cable to connect to the AUDIO OUT jack on the projector.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to the audio input on your external audio amplifier or powered speakers.

1. Complete all peripheral connections (computer, video, etc.) before turning on the projector.

2. Connect the projector’s AC power cord to an AC outlet. The POWER indicator will turn red.

3. Press the POWER button on the top control panel or on the remote control. The POWER indicator will turn green, the cooling fans will start, and the preparation display will appear on the screen.

4. If the projector is locked with a PIN code, an input dialog box will appear. Follow these steps to enter the PIN code:

Press the OK button.

Use the ◀▶ buttons to select a number, then press OK to enter it. The number will change to “*” and the cursor will move to the next box.

If you enter an incorrect number, press the MENU button to reset.

Repeat until the three-digit number is entered.

After entering the three digits, the cursor will automatically move to “Set”. Press the OK button to start operating the projector.

If you enter an incorrect PIN code, it will turn red and reset automatically after one second. You must then re-enter the correct PIN code.

1. Press the POWER button on the top control panel or remote control. A “Power off?” message will appear on the screen.

2. Press the POWER button again within 4 seconds. The POWER indicator will start to flash red, and the cooling fans will continue to run to cool down the lamp.

3. Once the cooling fans have stopped running and the POWER indicator stops flashing (turning solid red), it is safe to unplug the AC power cord.

Important Notes:

To maintain lamp life, once you turn the projector on, wait at least 5 minutes before turning it off.

Do not operate the projector continuously without a reset. It is recommended to turn off the projector and let it stand by for about an hour every 24 hours to extend lamp life.

Do not put the projector in a case before it has completely cooled down.

To adjust the image size and clarity on the EIKI EK-120U:

1. Adjust Zoom: Rotate the ZOOM ring (located at the back of the lens assembly) to zoom the image in or out to your desired size.

2. Adjust Focus: Rotate the FOCUS ring (located at the front of the lens assembly) to adjust the sharpness of the image until it is clear.

If the projected image has a trapezoidal shape (keystone distortion), you can correct it manually:

1. Press the KEYSTONE button on the remote control. The Keystone screen will be displayed.

2. Use the ▲▼ buttons to select the type of correction you want to perform:

H/V Keystone: Adjusts the horizontal or vertical trapezoid shape of the entire image.

Corner correction: Adjusts the position of the four individual corners of the image.

Curved correction (Not available for EK-120U): Adjusts image linearity.

Reset value: Returns all corrected values to the factory default.

3. After selecting a correction type, use the arrow buttons (▲▼◀▶) to make adjustments. The arrows on the screen will indicate the direction of correction and turn red when active.

4. Pressing the KEYSTONE button again while the dialog box is displayed will cancel the adjustment.

You can adjust the volume on the EIKI EK-120U in two ways:

Direct Operation:

Press the VOLUME +/- buttons on the remote control or the top control panel to increase or decrease the volume.

Press the MUTE button on the remote control to temporarily turn off the audio. Press it again or use the VOLUME +/- buttons to restore the sound.

Menu Operation:

1. Press the MENU button to display the screen menu.

2. Use the arrow buttons to navigate to the “Setting” menu icon and press OK.

3. Select “Sound” and press OK.

4. Select “Volume” and use the ▲▼ buttons to adjust the volume level.

5. Select “Mute” and use the ▲▼ buttons to switch the mute function On or Off.

6. Press OK to confirm your selection.

1. Press the MENU button on the remote control or top control to display the screen menu.

2. Use the ▲▼ buttons to select a main menu entry (represented by icons on the left) and then press the OK button to enter its submenu.

3. Use the ▲▼ buttons to select an item within the submenu, and then press the OK button to enter it.

4. Use the ◀▶ buttons to adjust settings or switch between options. Press the OK button to confirm the operation.

5. Press the ◀ button on the remote control or top control to go back to the previous menu. Press the MENU button again to exit the screen menu completely.

The on-screen menu for the EIKI EK-120U is divided into six main sections:

1. Display: Adjusts computer parameters like Auto PC adj., Fine sync, Position, and H.Size. It also includes settings for Aspect, Project way, Menu position, Background display, and input System.

2. Color adjust: Selects the Image mode (Standard, Dynamic, etc.) and adjusts image color settings like Contrast, Brightness, Color temp., and Sharpness.

3. Setting: Configures basic projector operations such as On start, Standby mode, High land, Lamp control, Cooling fast, Closed caption, Key lock, Iris, Sound, and HDMI setup.

4. Expand: Configures advanced settings including Language, Auto setup, Keystone, Logo, Security, Power management, Filter counter, Test Pattern, Network, Factory default, and Lamp counter.

5. Memory viewer: Configures settings for the Memory Viewer function, such as Set Slide, Slide transition effect, Sort order, Rotate, and Best fit.

6. Info: Displays system information about the projector and the current input signal.

The Memory Viewer function allows you to project pictures stored on a USB memory device.

Supported File Formats:

Display the Memory Viewer Screen:

1. Press the INPUT button and select Memory Viewer from the pop-up menu.

2. Insert the USB memory into the USB-A terminal. A “Please Press ‘OK'” message will appear.

3. Press the OK button. The root directory of the USB memory will appear in a thumbnail view.

Play Pictures Manually:

1. Use the arrow buttons to select a file.

2. Press OK to display the picture in full screen.

3. Press ▶ to switch to the next picture, or ◀ to return to the previous one.

4. Press OK to return to the thumbnail view.

Execute a Slideshow:

1. In the thumbnail view, select a file.

2. Press the MENU button and navigate to the “Memory Viewer” menu, then select “Set Slide”.

3. Press OK. The slideshow will begin from the selected picture.

The USB Display function projects the image from a computer connected to the USB-B (DISPLAY) terminal of the projector.

Projecting the USB Display (Windows):

1. Connect the USB-B terminal of the projector to a computer with a USB cable.

2. Press the INPUT button on the top control or remote and select USB Display as the input source.

3. The driver, which is built into the projector, will install automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions. If auto-installation is disabled, you may need to manually run “autorun.exe”.

4. Once the driver is installed, the computer screen image will be projected.

5. You can right-click the driver icon in the Windows taskbar to access options like enabling/disabling audio, playing/pausing video, starting/stopping the display, and exiting.

Projecting the USB Display (Mac OS):

1. Connect the USB-B terminal of the projector to a Mac with a USB cable.

2. Select USB Display as the input source.

3. A virtual disk will be mounted on your Mac. Double-click “Monitor.app” on this disk.

4. Right-click the driver icon in the dock to access control options.

To terminate the USB display, simply remove the USB cable. There is no need to “Remove hardware safely”.

Cleaning the Filter:

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the AC power cord from the outlet.

2. Remove the air filter cover and the air filter.

3. Gently clean the filter with a soft brush.

4. Reinstall the filter and the cover into the projector properly.

Resetting the Filter Counter:

Be sure to reset the filter counter after cleaning or replacing the filter.

1. Press the MENU button to display the screen menu.

2. Navigate to “Expand” using the arrow buttons and press OK.

3. Select “Filter counter” and press OK.

4. Select “Filter counter reset” and press OK. A confirmation dialog (“Filter counter Reset?”) will appear.

5. Select “Yes” and press OK. When another dialog box appears, select “Yes” again to reset the filter counter.

Clean the Projection Lens:

1. Unplug the AC power cord before cleaning.

2. Gently wipe the projection lens with a cleaning cloth that contains a non-abrasive camera lens cleaner, or use a lens cleaning paper or a commercially available air blower to clean the lens.

3. Avoid using an excessive amount of cleaner. Abrasive cleaners, solvents, or other harsh chemicals might scratch the lens surface.

Clean the Cabinet:

1. Unplug the AC power cord before cleaning.

2. Gently wipe the projector surface with a soft, dry cleaning cloth. If the cabinet is heavily soiled, use a cloth lightly dampened with a small amount of mild detergent, and then finish with a soft, dry cloth.

3. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or other harsh chemicals that might scratch the cabinet.

The WARNING (Red) and POWER (Green/Red/Yellow) indicators show the status of the projector. Here is a guide to their meanings:

If the projector will not power on, please check the following:

Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into the AC power outlet and the projector.

Check that the POWER indicator light is red. The projector can only be powered on from this standby state.

Check the WARNING indicator. If it is blinking red, the projector has overheated and cannot be powered on until it cools down.

Check if the “Key lock” function is enabled. If so, unlock it.

No Initial Display:

Make sure that the Logo function in the menu is not set to “Off”.

If the BLANK function is enabled, no image will appear. Press the BLANK button on the remote control to disable it.

Ambiguous Image:

Adjust the focus using the focus ring on the lens.

Ensure the projector is at a proper distance from the screen.

Check if the lens needs to be cleaned.

If the projector was moved from a cold to a warm environment, condensation may have formed on the lens. Wait for the condensation to disappear.

No Image:

Check the connection between the projector and your computer or video equipment.

Verify the signal from your source is correct. Some laptops may require changing video adapter settings.

Wait about 20 seconds after powering on for the image to appear.

Check the selected input source, color system, and video system mode.

Ensure the operating temperature is within the permitted range (41°F – 104°F [5°C – 40°C]).

If using an HDMI input that isn’t working, try adjusting the “HDMI EQ Setup”.

If you are not getting sound from the projector’s speaker, try these steps:

Check the audio cable connection from the audio input source to the projector’s AUDIO IN jack.

Adjust the audio source volume.

Press the VOLUME + button on the projector or remote control.

Press the Mute button to ensure the audio is not muted.

If an audio cable is plugged into the AUDIO OUT jack, the projector’s built-in speaker is automatically disabled. Unplug the cable to use the internal speaker.

The sound can only be heard when an image is being projected.

If the remote control is not working, please check the following:

Check the batteries and ensure they are installed correctly.

Make sure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the projector’s front or rear remote receivers.

Ensure you are within the maximum operating range of 5 meters (16.4 feet).

Check if the “Key lock” function in the Setting menu is set to lock the remote control. If so, unlock it using the projector’s top control panel.
