To assemble the U-Handle, follow these steps:

1. Install the U-handle clamp to the drive shaft clamp. Secure with the U-handle bolt.

2. Loosen the upper two U-handle clamp screws and position the U-handle assembly for comfortable operation.

3. Tighten the U-handle clamp screws.

Follow these instructions to install the shield. Note that the shield with the cutoff knife is for use with the Nylon Line Head only.

1. Remove the blade, blade mounting hardware, and shield without cutoff knife if they are installed, and retain them for future use.

2. Align the holes in the shield and shield plate with the bottom of the gear case flange. Install the three screws.

3. Place the line head plate on the PTO shaft.

Wear gloves during this procedure as the cutoff knife is sharp and the gearcase may be hot.

1. Align the notch in the edge of the shield and the hole in the line head plate with the notch in the edge of the gear housing, then insert the head locking tool.

2. Thread the line head onto the PTO shaft by turning it counterclockwise until the head is tight against the line head plate.

3. Remove the locking tool.

To advance the trimmer line, tap the trimmer head against the ground while the head is turning at normal operating speed.

1. Make sure power to the unit is turned off.

2. Align the ridges on the battery with the grooves in the power head. Slide the battery into the power head.

3. Assure the battery latch snaps into place and the battery is secure before beginning operation.

1. Loosen the harness clamp screw.

2. Put on the harness and attach the unit to the harness.

3. Slide the harness clamp up or down until the unit balances with the head approximately 50-75 mm (2-3 in.) from the ground.

4. Tighten the harness clamp screw.

5. Loosen the U-Handle clamp screws and position the U-Handle for comfortable operation.

6. Tighten the U-Handle clamp screws securely.

Blade use demands specific brushcutter configurations. Operation without the specified shield, barrier bar or U-handle, and harness can result in serious injury.

The type of blade used must be matched to the type and size of material cut:

3-Tooth Grass/Weed Blades: May be used wherever the nylon line head is used. DO NOT use this blade for heavy weeds or brush.

8-Tooth Weed/Grass Blade: Designed for grass, garden debris, and thick weeds up to 19 mm (0.75 in.) diameter. DO NOT use this blade for brush or heavy woody growth.

80-Tooth Brush Blade: Designed for cutting brush and woody growth up to 13 mm (0.5 in.) diameter.

22-Tooth Clearing Blade: Designed for dense thickets and saplings up to 64 mm (2.5 in.) diameter.

To Start:

1. Keep movable parts of the attachment away from objects or surfaces.

2. Push the power button once to turn on power to the unit. The Power indicator LED will illuminate.

3. Hold down the trigger switch lockout and depress the trigger switch to increase RPM to operating speed.

Note: To increase operating speed, press “+”. To decrease speed, press “-“. Press and hold the “+” button for one second to maintain consistent speed. Press “+” again to cancel.

To Stop:

1. Release the trigger switch and trigger switch lockout, and allow the trimmer head to stop.

2. Push the power button to turn off power to the unit. The Power indicator LED will turn off.

When power to the unit is turned on:

LED remains lit: Operation is normal.

LED flashes once per second: The battery needs to be charged.

LED flashes four times per second: There is a fault within the product. Turn power off, remove battery, clear debris from around line head, install battery, and turn power on. If flashing continues, contact an authorized servicing dealer.

Trimming: Feed the spinning line into the material to be cut. Tilt the cutting head down on the right side (muffler side) while cutting to direct debris away from the operator.

Scything: Swing the cutting head in a level arc, gradually feeding the line into the material being cut. Move forward with each arc to cut a swath. Keep the line head tilted to direct cutting debris forward or away from you.

Edging and Scalping: Tilt the nylon line cutting head at a steep angle. Scalping removes top growth leaving earth bare. Edging trims grass back where it has spread over pavement.

Gear Case:

1. Clean all loose debris from the gear case.

2. Remove the plug and check the level of grease.

3. Add lithium-based grease if necessary. DO NOT over-fill.

Flex Cable:

1. Loosen the handle clamping screw and slide the throttle handle forward.

2. Loosen the clamping screw and slide the shaft out of the power head.

3. Pull the flex cable out of the shaft housing, wipe clean, and re-coat with 15 ml (0.5 oz.) of lithium-based grease.

4. Slide the flex cable back into the shaft housing, ensuring no dirt gets on it.

5. Reassemble in reverse order.

1. Cut one piece of line to the recommended length: 6 m (20 ft.) for 2.0 mm (0.080 in.) diameter or 6 m (20 ft.) for 2.4 mm (0.095 in.) diameter.

2. Align the arrows on top of the knob with the openings in the eyelets.

3. Insert one end of the trimmer line into an eyelet and push the line equal distance through the trimmer head.

4. Hold the trimmer head while turning the knob clockwise to wind the line onto the spool until about 13 cm (5 in.) of each line remains exposed.

Note: The clearing blade and 80-tooth blade require professional service. The 8-tooth blade can be sharpened as follows:

1. Inspect the blade closely for cracks, missing teeth, or bending. Replace if damaged.

2. File each tooth at a 30° angle a specific number of times (e.g., four strokes per tooth) to maintain balance. Work around the blade until all teeth are sharp.

3. DO NOT file the ‘gullet’ (radius) of the tooth with the flat file. The radius must remain.

4. After sharpening, check each tooth radius for evidence of a square corner and use a round file to renew the radius if necessary.

1. Turn power to unit off and remove the battery.

2. Remove accumulation of dirt and debris from the exterior of the unit.

3. Tighten all screws and nuts.

4. Cover the battery compartment, battery, and charger.

5. Store the unit in a dry, dust-free place out of the reach of children.

6. Do not store in an enclosure where combustible fumes may accumulate.
