If you smell gas, follow these steps immediately:

1. Do not try to light any appliances.

2. Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your building.

3. Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions.

4. If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.

5. Do not return to your home until authorized by the gas supplier or fire department.

The ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-NG is recommended for Whole Home, Residential, and Commercial use. It is suitable for 3-4 applications.

The ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-NG water heater is for OUTDOOR installation ONLY. It must be mounted on a vertical wall and not installed indoors or in a confined space. It should be located close to the most frequently used outlet. Clearance should be 10 ft to the left and right side of flammable materials, and 6.75ft to the front. Do not install near vents for heating or cooling; a minimum of 4 feet should be maintained.

When connecting the water supply:

1. Install a shut-off valve near the inlet of the water heater for service and draining purposes.

2. Before connecting the pipe, open the shut-off valve to clean out sand, debris, air, and caulking material.

3. Connect to the water inlet, then check water flow.

4. Install a Check Valve between the water heater and the water shut-off valve.

5. Installation of unions or flexible copper connections are recommended on the HOT and COLD water lines.

6. Hot and cold water lines should be insulated to conserve water and energy.

A Manual Gas Appliance Shut-off Valve must be installed at the gas connection. The branch gas supply line should be clean black steel pipe or other approved gas piping material. A ground joint union or ANSI design certified semi-rigid or flexible gas appliance connector should be installed in the gas line close to the water heater. A sediment trap should be installed at the bottom of the gas line. The inlet gas pressure must not exceed 10.5” w.c. for Natural Gas.

A new pressure relief valve complying with ANSI Z21.22 must be installed at the hot water outlet connection. The pressure rating must not exceed 150 psi. The discharge line must be no smaller than the outlet of the valve and must pitch downward to allow complete drainage by gravity. The end of the discharge line should not be threaded or concealed and should be protected from freezing.

To leak test the unit:

1. Turn on the gas shut-off valve(s) to the water heater.

2. Use a commercial leak detector or soapy water to test for leaks at all connections and fittings. Bubbles indicate a gas leak that must be corrected.

3. Never use an open flame to test for gas leaks.

Do not install the remote control outdoors or where it may come into contact with water, heat, oil, or steam. To connect:

1. Plug the aviation joint into the socket directly on the water heater.

2. At the installation site, mark and screw two holes with 1/4” width and 1 1/5” depth.

3. Insert two rubber screws into the holes.

4. Remove the front cover of the remote control.

5. Place the remote control against the wall, align the holes, and fasten with wood thread screws.

6. Replace the front cover.

The power supply requirement is 120 VAC / 60HZ, 2 AMPS. The heater comes with a three (3) pin power supply cord. Use only a power outlet with a ground terminal. The installation of an electric leakage breaker (GFCI) is recommended. If hardwiring, wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and an ON/OFF switch must be provided.

1. Make sure the gas type matches the data plate.

2. Turn on the main gas valve, plug in the power cord, and press the “ON/OFF” button on the control panel. Set the temperature to 120°F.

3. Turn on the faucet; the fan will begin working and you will hear the ignition sound. The burner will ignite, and hot water will come out.

4. If ignition fails, turn off the faucet, wait 10-20 seconds, and repeat.

This model can memorize and save the last set temperature on the remote control with “priority”. If no remote control has priority, the set temperature of the water heater will be the same as the set temperature of the remote control which starts the water heater. The factory preset is 110°F.

1. Make sure the water heater is OFF and electrical power is disconnected.

2. Turn the water supply OFF to the heater.

3. Unscrew the water filter and slide it out.

4. Remove severe dust using a soft brush and wash with running water. Do not tap the filter.

5. Return the filter to the water heater and screw it in.

6. Turn the electrical power and cold water supply ON.

1. Turn off the switch on the remote control.

2. Close the gas shut-off valve(s) and water shut-off valve.

3. Turn the on/off switch to the OFF position and disconnect breaker at least 10 seconds after step #1.

4. Open the drain valve.

5. Open all hot water faucets. Ensure COLD water is coming out of all hot water faucets.

6. Allow water to drain for 3 minutes or until empty.

7. To restore operation, reinstall the water filter, close the drain valve, open the water shut-off valve, close faucets after water flows, reconnect the breaker, turn on the switch, and open the gas valve.
