The ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP is recommended for Whole Home, Residential, and Commercial applications. It is suitable for households with 3-4 applications.

What is the temperature rise and flow rate capability of the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP?

The ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP offers the following temperature rise (in degrees Fahrenheit) per flow rate (GPM):

1.1 GPM at 80 degrees rise

1.7 GPM at 75 degrees rise

2.3 GPM at 70 degrees rise

2.8 GPM at 65 degrees rise

3.4 GPM at 60 degrees rise

4.5 GPM at 50 degrees rise

5.1 GPM at 45 degrees rise

5.7 GPM at 40 degrees rise

6.2 GPM at 35 degrees rise

6.8 GPM at 30 degrees rise

Where should the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP be installed?

The ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP is for OUTDOOR installation ONLY. It must be mounted on a vertical wall and not installed indoors or in a confined space. It should be installed close to the most frequently used outlet. Clearance should be 10 ft to the left and right side of flammable materials, and 6.75ft to the front. The installation area must be well ventilated and free of blockage.

How should the water supply connections be made for the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP?

Before connecting the water supply pipe, open the shut-off valve to clean out debris. Connect to the water inlet and check water flow. Close the shut-off valve and clean the water filter. Connect the water inlet and hot water outlet as shown on the heater; if reversed, it will not function. Install a Check Valve between the water heater and the water shut-off valve. Installation of unions or flexible copper connections is recommended on HOT and COLD water lines for easy servicing.

What are the requirements for the gas supply connection on the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP?

A Manual Gas Appliance Shut-off Valve must be installed at the gas connection. The branch gas supply line should be clean black steel pipe or other approved gas piping material. A ground joint union or ANSI design certified semi-rigid or flexible gas appliance connector should be installed in the gas line close to the water heater. A sediment trap should be installed at the bottom of the gas line. The inlet gas pressure must not exceed 14” w.c. for LPG.

How do I perform a leak test on the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP?

Turn on the gas shut-off valve(s) to the water heater. Use a commercial leak detector or soapy water to test for leaks at all connections and fittings. Bubbles indicate a gas leak that must be corrected. Never use an open flame to test for gas leaks. Factory connections should also be leak tested after the water heater is placed in operation.

What are the electrical power requirements for the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP?

The electric power supply requirement is 120 VAC / 60HZ, 2 AMPS. The water heater comes with a three (3) pin power supply cord. Use only a power outlet with a ground terminal. The installation of an electric leakage breaker (GFCI) is recommended.

How do I start the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP water heater?

1. Make sure the gas type you will use is the same as the type on the data plate.

2. Turn on the main gas valve, plug in the power cord, and press the “ON/OFF” button on the control panel. Set the temperature to 120°F.

3. Turn on the faucet, and the fan will begin working. You will hear the ignition sound after a few seconds. The burner will ignite, and hot water will come out. If ignition fails, turn off the faucet, wait 10-20 seconds, and repeat.

How do I adjust the temperature on the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP?

To turn the remote control ON or OFF, press the POWER button for more than 3 seconds. To adjust the temperature to a required setting, press the UP or DOWN temperature button. Press and hold UP or DOWN to raise or lower the temperature continuously. The factory recommended operating temperatures are between 90°F and 140°F.

How do I clean the water filter on the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP?

1. Make sure the water heater is OFF and the electrical power supply has been disconnected.

2. Turn the water supply OFF to the heater.

3. Unscrew the water filter and slide it out.

4. To remove severe dust, use a soft brush and wash with running water. Do not tap the filter as it may deform.

5. Return the filter to the water heater and screw it in.

6. Turn the electrical power supply and cold water supply ON.

How do I drain the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP to prevent freezing?

1. Turn off the switch on the remote control.

2. Close the gas shut-off valve(s).

3. Close the water shut-off valve.

4. Turn the on/off switch to the OFF position and disconnect breaker at least 10 seconds after step #1.

5. Open the drain valve.

6. Open all hot water faucets. Ensure COLD water is coming out of all hot water faucets.

7. To return to operation, reinstall the filter, close the drain valve, open the water shut-off valve, close the faucet after water flows, reconnect the breaker, and turn the switch ON.

What do the Error Codes E0 through E8 mean on the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP?

E0: Hot water sensor failure (Junction port loose, Short circuit).

E1: Ignition system failure (Gas valve not opened, water shut-off not open, junction port loose).

E2: Flame exists when no water is coming in (Electric circuit problem).

E3: Over-heating protection (Dry Combustion, Overheating controller problem).

E4: Cold water temperature sensor problem (Sensor, plug, or computer board).

E5: Pressure Switch (Motor problem, Voltage of power supply too low).

E6: Over-Heating (Gas pressure too high, water shut-off not fully open, temperature set too low).

E7: Solenoid Valve (Open or short circuit of the valve).

E8: Vent Pipe Block (Vent pipe is blocked).

What should I check if there is not enough or no hot water from the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP?

Check if the water shut-off valve is fully opened. Ensure the hot water faucet is fully opened; the main burner goes off if incoming water volume is inadequate. Check if water piping is frozen. Verify proper power supply and water supply. Ensure the water heater is “ON”. If the temperature is set too low, increase the setting. Check for error codes on the remote control panel.

What should I do if the water from the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP is not hot enough?

Increase the temperature setting if it is set too low. Check and open the gas valve fully if it is not fully opened.

What should I do if the water from the ECCOTEMP 6.8GB-LP is too hot?

Decrease the temperature setting if it is set too high. Check the water shut-off valve and open it fully. If a small amount of water has been heated, allow more water to flow. Clean the water filter with a toothbrush if it is clogged.
