Use this heater on a horizontal and stable surface, or fix it to the wall, as applicable.

Keep combustible materials such as drapes and other furnishings clear from the front, sides, and rear of the heater. Do not use the heater to dry laundry.

The appliance must be earthed. The use of an extension lead or multi-plug adaptor is not advised as it could lead to a risk of overloading and fire.

To avoid overheating, do not cover the appliance. Do not place material or garments on the appliance or obstruct the air circulation around it.

The DIMPLEX SPK28-EU should be installed in an opening with the following minimum dimensions:

To use the side mounting option for the DIMPLEX SPK28-EU, follow these steps:

Step 1. Remove the magnetic inner side panels.

Step 2. Hook the mounting brackets to each side of the firebox.

Step 3. Align the front of the firebox (without the front glass and side panels) with the front face of the opening.

Step 4. Secure the firebox to the framing with screws threaded through the mounting brackets.

Step 5. Once the firebox is secured, reinstall the magnetic side panels.

To install the front glass on the DIMPLEX SPK28-EU:

Step 1. Remove the clear plastic sheet from the spring. Ensure the spring is not damaged. Avoid touching the springs with your hands after removing the plastic sheet.

Step 2. Unpack the front glass and check that the hooks on the glass are straight and not damaged.

Step 3. Align the hooks on the glass with the holes on the engine.

Step 4. Insert the four hooks into the holes and let the glass slide down to the bottom edge of the holes.

Step 5. Ensure the front glass is securely mounted.

The manual controls for the DIMPLEX SPK28-EU are located on the front glass. Touch the hidden control to the right side of the small clear window to activate the controls. Select an icon, and the digital display will highlight your selection. The touch panel will return to its hidden state after 5 seconds.

The multi-function infrared remote control has a range of approximately 6 meters. To operate, point the remote toward the front of the electric fireplace.

The DIMPLEX SPK28-EU features several heating and temperature functions:

Heat Button: Press to cycle through functions: low heat (Lo), high heat (Hi), cool airflow (Cb), and off. Use the Temperature icon to adjust the thermostat.

Temperature Settings: Press multiple times to cycle through settings from 17 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius (62 degrees Fahrenheit to 92 degrees Fahrenheit).

Celsius/Fahrenheit Toggle: To switch between units, press and hold the Temperature and Flame buttons simultaneously on the touch panel.

Disable Heat: On the touch panel, press and hold the Heat and Temperature buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds to disable the heater. To enable, press and hold the same buttons again for 5 seconds. When disabled, the display will show “–” when the Temperature button is pressed.

The DIMPLEX SPK28-EU allows you to adjust the following display settings:

Flame Speed: Press the button to cycle through minimum (F1), medium (F2), and maximum (F3) speeds.

Flame: Press the button to turn the flame on or off and cycle through 13 flame colors.

Brightness: Press the button to change the flame brightness between high, medium, or low.

Colour Themes: Press the button multiple times to change media colors. Themes include t0 (Midnight mode), t1 (Media white), t2 (Media red/orange), t3 (Media blue), t4 (Media purple), t5 (Media green), and t6 (Prism mode/color cycle).

For the DIMPLEX SPK28-EU:

Timer: Press the button multiple times to set the sleep timer in 0.5-hour increments, from 0.5 hours to 8 hours. When active, the timer indicator light will be illuminated. Press again to display the remaining time.

Speaker: Press the Speaker button to turn the speaker on or off. Use the + or – buttons on the remote control to adjust the volume.

To connect your DIMPLEX SPK28-EU using Bluetooth:

Step 1. Download the Glen Dimplex Connect app and enable location services and WiFi on your phone.

Step 2. Register or login to your account and select “Add Device”.

Step 3. On the fireplace, press the WiFi button for 5 seconds until the blue indicator flashes.

Step 4. Click “Add” in the app when you see your device.

Step 5. Enter your WiFi name and password, then click “Next” to pair.

Step 6. The blue WiFi indicator will remain lit once connected.

To replace the battery in the DIMPLEX SPK28-EU remote control:

Step 1. Remove the screw on the battery cover using a Philips screwdriver.

Step 2. Depress the tab and pull out the battery compartment from the bottom of the remote.

Step 3. Install one 3 Volt battery (either CR2032 for longer life or CR2025).

Step 4. Insert the battery compartment and secure it with the screw.

Should the DIMPLEX SPK28-EU overheat, an automatic cutout will turn the heater off. To reset the cutout switch, unplug the unit or turn off the circuit, and wait for 5 minutes before powering it back on.

Swallowing button batteries can lead to serious injury or death in as little as 2 hours. If a battery is swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms may include:

Coughing, gagging, or excessive drooling.

Appearing to have a stomach upset or virus.

Being sick or pointing to the throat or stomach.

Pain in the abdomen, chest, or throat.

Lethargy or being unusually quiet or clingy.

Loss of appetite or refusal to eat solid food.

Vomiting fresh, bright red blood is a specific symptom of button battery ingestion.

Inspect the DIMPLEX SPK28-EU firebox regularly at minimum yearly intervals. Remove dust and clean with a damp cloth as required. Always disconnect the power by unplugging the unit and allow the heater to cool before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
