Dell Display Manager is a Microsoft Windows application used to manage a monitor or a group of monitors. It allows for manual adjustment of the displayed image, assignment of automatic settings, energy management, window organization, image rotation, and other features on selected Dell monitors.

For Dell Display Manager to communicate with your DELL E2020H monitor, you must ensure that the DDC/CI (Display Data Channel/Command Interface) setting is enabled in the monitor’s On-Screen Display (OSD) menu.

To open the Quick Settings dialog, click the Dell Display Manager icon in the notification tray. This dialog box allows for convenient adjustment of your DELL E2020H monitor’s brightness and contrast levels. You can also select ‘Manual Mode’ or ‘Auto Mode’ and change the screen resolution from this dialog.

You can select ‘Manual Mode’ to manually choose a preset mode or select ‘Auto Mode’ which applies a preset mode based on the active application. The ‘Auto Mode’ tab allows you to associate a specific Preset Mode with an application. When ‘Auto Mode’ is enabled, Dell Display Manager will automatically switch to the corresponding preset mode whenever that application is activated. To add a new application to the assignment list, simply drag the application’s icon from the desktop or Start Menu and drop it onto the current list in the ‘Auto Mode’ tab.

Please note that Preset Mode assignments for batch files, scripts, loaders, and non-executable files such as zip archives or packed files are not supported.

Easy Arrange helps you organize your application windows on the desktop. First, go to the ‘Easy Arrange’ tab and choose a predefined layout pattern. Then, drag your application windows into the defined zones, and they will automatically position and resize.

To create a custom layout, arrange the open windows as you wish and then click ‘Save’.

If you often use the Windows snap feature, you can select “Hold down the SHIFT key to enable zone positioning”. This gives Windows snap priority. You will then need to press the Shift key to use Easy Arrange positioning.

Yes, if you are using multiple monitors in an array or matrix, you can apply an Easy Arrange layout across all monitors as a single desktop. To do this, select the “Span multiple monitors” checkbox in the ‘Easy Arrange’ tab. You need to align your monitors properly for this feature to work effectively.

The ‘Input Manager’ tab provides convenient ways to manage multiple video inputs connected to your DELL E2020H. It makes it easy to switch between inputs when working with multiple computers. All available video input ports are listed, and you can give each input a custom name.

You can also define a shortcut key to quickly switch to your favorite input and another shortcut key to quickly switch between two specific inputs if you often work between them. Additionally, you can use the dropdown list to switch to any available input source.

Note: Dell Display Manager can communicate with your monitor even when it’s displaying video from another computer. You can install DDM on the computer you use most frequently and control input switching from it.

Dell Display Manager (DDM) can help you restore application windows to their positions when you reconnect your computer to the monitor. You can access this feature by right-clicking the DDM icon in the notification tray.

Auto-restore window layout: If you choose this option, DDM tracks and remembers your application windows’ positions and automatically restores them when you reconnect your PC.

Save and Restore a Layout: If you want to return to a favorite layout after moving windows around, you can first select “Save current window layout”. Later, you can use “Restore saved window layout” to return to that saved configuration.

For these features to work, you must keep your applications running; DDM does not launch applications.

On your supported DELL E2020H, an ‘Options’ tab is available in Dell Display Manager that provides PowerNap energy conservation options. You can choose to set the monitor’s brightness to the minimum level or to put the monitor to sleep when the screensaver is activated.

If DDM does not work with your DELL E2020H monitor, an icon with an error message will appear in your notification tray. If DDM is unable to detect or communicate with your monitor, please take the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Make sure the video cable is properly connected between your monitor and your computer. Ensure the connectors are firmly inserted.

2. Check the monitor’s On-Screen Display (OSD) to ensure DDC/CI is enabled.

3. Make sure you have the correct and latest graphics card driver from the vendor (e.g., Intel, AMD, NVIDIA). The graphics driver is a common cause of DDM failure.

4. Remove any docking stations, cable extenders, and converters between the monitor and the graphics port. Some low-cost extenders, hubs, or converters may not support DDC/CI properly and can cause DDM to fail.

5. Restart your computer.

DDM may not work with the following:

• Dell monitor models that shipped earlier than 2013 and D-series of Dell monitors.

• Gaming monitors using Nvidia-based G-sync technology.

• Virtual and wireless displays do not support DDC/CI.

• Some early models of DP 1.2 monitors may require you to disable MST/DP 1.2 using the monitor OSD.
