Please adhere to the following battery safety warnings for your DEFIANT SWLZ20BWB:

• Ensure the batteries are installed correctly according to polarity (+ and -).

• Prolonged exposure to the alarm siren may cause permanent hearing loss.

Follow these steps to set up your DEFIANT SWLZ20BWB:

1. Download the Hubspace™ app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

2. Sign in if you have an account, or register to create a new account and then sign in.

3. Open the battery cover of the 2in1 Water Leak Sensor. To do this, rotate the Sensor Shield (A) counterclockwise.

4. Remove the Battery Insulator Pull Tab behind the batteries to connect power.

5. Close the battery cover. Align the top of the Sensor Shield (A) and Sensor Housing (E) with the “UP” markings on them, then rotate the Sensor Shield (A) clockwise to close the cover.

6. In the Hubspace™ app, tap the “+” button in the upper-right corner of the app screen to add your 2in1 Water Leak Sensor.

Note: Bluetooth® access is required for product setup. Android phones must also enable Location services to allow for Bluetooth scanning. If you do not see your Wi-Fi network name when you attempt to connect, please check your router settings or move your product closer to your Wi-Fi router.

After powering on the device, follow the in-app instructions. You will be prompted to scan the QR code located on the back of the Main Sensor (AA) or in the Quick Start Guide (CC).

• If the QR code cannot be scanned, you can enter the code manually in the app. Tap “Enter Code” and follow the instructions. The code can be found on the back of the Sensor Housing (E).

• If the QR code is lost, you can press the Reset Button (D) for 5 seconds to put the device into setup mode and then follow the app instructions.

The buzzer on the DEFIANT SWLZ20BWB will sound continuously and you will receive a notification on the Hubspace app when the following alarms have been triggered:

• Water detected

• Sustained temperature condition (when the detected temperature is below your preset threshold in the app)

MOVEMENT DETECTED: The sensor will become active for 5 minutes and emit a chirp sound when movement is detected.

HUMIDITY DETECTED: If the detected humidity exceeds the level you preset, you will receive a notification on the Hubspace app.

Note: You can set the temperature and humidity thresholds in the Hubspace app only when the sensor is connected and in an awake state. To wake the sensor, shake it or let it drop slightly.

If a low battery is detected, the red LED will blink continuously, and the buzzer will “chirp” every 10 minutes. You will also receive a “low battery” alert through the app.

The alarm on the DEFIANT SWLZ20BWB will stop if:

• The user presses the reset button inside the sensor.

• The user silences the alarm through the app.

• The trigger condition is no longer active (e.g., the sensor has dried).

If you turn off the alarm and the device continues to detect water or humidity conditions, the alarm will ring again after one hour.

If the sensor loses its network connection, it will enter deep sleep mode after 5 minutes of being on. In this mode, the sensor can only be activated by a water leak, a temperature of 40°F, or a humidity level of 85%RH. The Hubspace app will not send any alarms if the sensor is in deep sleep mode.

The DEFIANT SWLZ20BWB can be placed directly on the floor or mounted on the wall.

Floor Placement:

Simply place the sensor in the location you wish to monitor. The main sensor operates without the optional sensing cable if it is on the floor.

Wall Mount:

1. Nail a hook or use the provided wall screw (EE) at the desired placement position.

2. Install the sensor by hanging it via the Wall-Mounting Slot on the back of the sensor’s mounting plate.

Using the Sensing Cable:

1. Plug the Sensing Cable (BB) into the input jack (F) on the Sensor Shield (A).

2. Ensure the Sensing Cable (BB) is placed where you wish to detect liquid.

3. To extend the detection range, you can connect additional Sensing Cables (up to 17).

• There should be no large obstructions in front of the sensor.

• The sensor should not be installed in locations where there may be wide temperature changes, such as near air conditioners, fans, refrigerators, or ovens/ranges.

• Determine a location away from extreme temperature sources and large metal objects that could interfere with wireless performance.

• The Sensing Cable (BB) is optional for floor placement but must be connected to the base unit to function for extended range or wall-mounted applications.

1. Remove the 2in1 Water Leak Sensor from its placement position.

2. Open the Sensor Shield (A) by rotating it counterclockwise to open the battery cover.

3. Remove the old batteries and replace them with new CR123A batteries.

4. Close the battery cover. Align the top of the Sensor Shield (A) and Sensor Housing (E) with the “UP” markings on them, and then rotate the Sensor Shield (A) clockwise to close the battery cover.

WARNING: Do not use carbon-zinc batteries. It is recommended to use lithium batteries or alkaline batteries.

Make sure the batteries are installed and have power. Your Internet connection or Wi-Fi network may be down.

Make sure you have a 2.4GHz capable Wi-Fi network within range of the device you are trying to add.

Yes. Use the app on a phone with an Internet connection like LTE. The phone must be within Bluetooth range of your Hubspace device and have Bluetooth enabled.

NOTE: Notifications will not be able to be sent and integration with voice services will not operate unless the device has WiFi connectivity.

The QR code is on the Sensor Housing (E). A copy of the QR code is also included in your device’s documentation.

Under the QR code are numbers. You can enter those manually in the app instead of scanning the code.

Scan the QR code and it will transfer to your account. The device will disappear from the original account.

To wake up your sensor and have it connect, pick it up or shake it.

Turn off Bluetooth on your phone and turn it back on. Then, scan the QR code. If the problem persists, turn your phone off and on, then try again.

You need to unplug the Sensing Cable (BB), then the alarm will stop. Reconnect the Sensing Cable (BB) when it is dry.

You can air dry the sensing cable or use a hair dryer.
