Heritage@ 30″, 36″ Wide Drop-In Gas Cooktop PLANNING GUIDE Electrical Requirements WARNING To prevent an electric shock hazard, the power supply must meet the specifications below. The owner shall ensure that the electrical service meets electrical requirements and that the outlet is properly installed by a licensed electrician. • The cooktop comes with a 42″ power cord with 3-prong, grounding plug (chassis bottom, right-rear corner). Data Label Power cord 42″ (106.7 cm) 1/2″ male NPT gas inlet • The cooktop must be connected to a dedicated, grounded 3-prong outlet installed by a licensed electrician. • The electrical installation, including minimum supply-wire size and grounding, must comply with the National Electric Code ANSI/NFPA 70* and local codes and ordinances. A copy of this standard may be obtained from: National Fire Protection Association 1 Batterymarch Park Quincy, Massachusetts 02269-9101 Be certain that the cooktop is correct for the provided gas service (natural or LP gas). If operating the cooktop at an altitude above 4000 ft. (1210 m), ensure it is equipped for high-altitude use. • The correct voltage, frequency and amperage must be supplied to the electrical outlet according to the product data label located on the bottom of the chassis (see graphic at left). See the Gas and Electrical Requirements table on this page for reference. Be certain to locate the electrical outlet so power may be easily disconnected if the unit needs service. • Check local building codes for the proper installation method. If no such codes exist, install the cooktop per the National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54. An external manual shut-off valve must be installed between the gas inlet and cooktop so gas to the cooktop can be shut on/off. Use only the factory regulator, which must be installed in the gas line that runs from the cooktop gas inlet to the gas shut-off valve. Because the regulator inlet accommodates a 3/4″ gas line, and the cooktop inlet is a 1/2″ male NPTfitting, a 3/4″-to-l/2″ reducer comes with the cooktop. The cooktop gas connection is on the chassis bottom, back right corner. (See the graphic at left.) Heritage@ 30″, 36″ Wide Drop-In Gas Cooktop Cabinet and Countertop Layout • Install the cooktop away from drafts caused by doors, windows, and home ventilation outlets. • The cooktop is to be used with a suitable vent hood or approved Dacor downdraft-vent system. WARNING • To reduce risk of burn injury from reaching overa hot cooktop, avoid cabinet storage above the cooktop. • Failure to comply with the max/min dimensions and clearances in this guide may cause a fire hazard. • Follow the countertop manufacturer’s instructions regarding minimum corner radius, use of heat-reflective tape, corner reinforcement, etc. • Allow at least 1/4″ (6 mm) clearance between the bottom of the cooktop chassis and all combustible surfaces, including the upper edge of a drawer. • The gas-supply piping, shut-off valve, and power outlet must not interfere with the installed cooktop. If installing an appliance below the cooktop, allow for routing of utilities behind it. Installation must allow: • access to the gas shut-off valve and regulator after installation. • access to the electrical outlet when the cooktop is in place; the 42″ (106.7 cm) power cord must be able to reach the electrical outlet • access to the cooktop bottom for service/inspection • clearance inside the cabinet for proper hold-down bracket installation. To allow access to the utilities and cooktop bottom, do not install a fixed shelf below the cooktop. See the next page for countertop cutout dimensions. (16 Callout 2 3 Description Measured from top of cooktop grate to combustible surface. If installing an overhead vent hood, also check hood specifications for minimum required clearances. Not applicable for cabinets over 5 1/2″ (14.0 cm) from either side of cooktop edge; allow 6 7/8″ (17.5 cm) from edge of cutout. B (Min.
