No. The CASIO 4303 watch does not have a time zone that corresponds to the Greenwich Mean Time differential of -3.5 hours. Because of this, the radio-controlled timekeeping and World Time functions will not display the correct time for Newfoundland, Canada.

To navigate the modes on your CASIO 4303, use the A and B buttons as shown below:

From Timekeeping Mode (Day) to Timekeeping Mode (Day of week):

Press B.

From Timekeeping Mode to Receive Result Mode:

Press A.

It is important to set your Home Time Zone, which is the time zone where you will normally use the watch, to ensure the time is set correctly. Follow these steps:

1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down B for about five seconds until the currently selected Time Zone appears on the display. This is the setting mode.

2. Press A to select the time zone you want to use as your Home Time Zone. The available time zones are:

• E (GMT-5): New York, Detroit, Miami, Boston

• C (GMT-6): Chicago, Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth, New Orleans

• M (GMT-7): Denver, El Paso, Culiacan

• P (GMT-8): Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Seattle/Tacoma, Tijuana

• 0 (GMT 0): London

• +1 (GMT+1): Paris, Berlin, Milan, Rome, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Vienna, Barcelona, Madrid

3. Press B ten times to exit the setting mode.

The watch will also return to the Timekeeping Mode if you do not perform any operation for about three minutes. Normally, your watch should show the correct time as soon as you exit the setting screen. If it does not, it should adjust automatically after the next auto receive operation.

Your CASIO 4303 uses two different methods to receive the time calibration signal:

• Auto Receive: With auto receive, the watch receives the time calibration signal automatically up to five times a day. When any auto receive is successful, the remaining auto receive operations are not performed.

• Manual Receive: Manual receive lets you start a time calibration receive operation with the press of a button.

When getting ready to receive the time calibration signal, position the CASIO 4303 watch as shown in the nearby illustration, with its 6 o’clock side facing towards a window. Make sure there are no metal objects nearby. The watch should not be facing the wrong way.

Proper signal reception on your CASIO 4303 can be difficult or even impossible under the following conditions:

• Inside or among buildings

• Inside a vehicle

• Near household appliances, office equipment, or a mobile phone

• Near a construction site, airport, or other sources of electrical noise

• Near high-tension power lines

• Among or behind mountains

The reception ranges for the CASIO 4303 depend on the transmitter:

United States (Fort Collins transmitter):

• Under good reception conditions, signal reception is possible within a radius of about 2,000 miles (3,000 kilometers).

• At distances further than about 600 miles (1,000 kilometers), signal reception may not be possible during certain times of year or times of day. Radio interference may also cause problems with reception.

Germany (Mainflingen) or England (Rugby) transmitter:

• Under good reception conditions, signal reception is possible within a radius of about 1,500 kilometers (930 miles).

• At distances further than about 500 kilometers (310 miles), signal reception may not be possible during certain times of year or times of day. Radio interference may also cause problems with reception.

The CASIO 4303 watch receives the time calibration signal automatically up to five times a day. When any auto receive is successful, the remaining auto receive operations are not performed. The reception schedule depends on your currently selected Home Time Zone and its standard time or Daylight Saving Time setting.

Note:

• When a calibration time is reached, the watch will automatically receive the signal only if it is in the Timekeeping Mode or Receive Result Mode. It is not performed if a calibration time is reached while you are configuring settings.

• Auto receipt is designed to be performed early in the morning, while you sleep. Before going to bed, remove the watch from your wrist and put it in a location where it can receive the signal easily.

• The watch receives the calibration signal for two to ten minutes every day when the time in the Timekeeping Mode reaches each of the calibration times. Do not perform any button operation within ten minutes before or after any one of the calibration times.

To perform a manual receive on your CASIO 4303, follow these steps:

1. Place the watch on a stable surface so its 6 o’clock side is facing towards a window.

2. Hold down A for about two seconds until ‘RC’ starts to flash on the display.

• The second hand will move to 12 o’clock and stay there while reception is in progress. The hour and minute hands continue to keep time normally.

• Time calibration signal reception takes from two to ten minutes. Do not perform any button operations or move the watch during this time.

Receive Successful: When receive is successful, the display shows the time that receive was successful. The watch will enter the Timekeeping Mode if you press A or if you do not perform any button operation for about three minutes.

Receive Failed: When receive is unsuccessful, the display shows “–“. The watch will enter the Timekeeping Mode without changing the time setting if you press A or if you do not perform any button operation for about three minutes.

To interrupt a receive operation and return to the Timekeeping Mode, press A.

To check the latest signal reception results on your CASIO 4303:

1. In Timekeeping Mode, press A to enter the Receive Result Mode.

• When receive was successful, the display shows the time that receive was successful.

• When receive was not successful, the display shows “–“.

• If you adjusted the time or date setting manually, the display shows “–“.

2. To return to the Timekeeping Mode, press A.

If you experience problems with signal reception on your CASIO 4303, check the following points:

If the time and date settings are wrong even after the time calibration signal is received normally, use the following procedure to adjust the home positions of your CASIO 4303:

1. While in the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A and B for about five seconds. The analog hands will stop.

2. Check the position of the second hand. The home position is correct if it is pointing at 12 o’clock. If not, press A to move the second hand clockwise in one-second steps until it points at 12 o’clock. Holding down A moves the hand at high speed.

3. Press B to advance to hour and minute hand home position adjustment. If the current alignment is correct, they will both move to 12 o’clock.

4. Check the position of the hour and minute hands. If they are not pointing at 12 o’clock, press A to move them clockwise in 20-second steps until they point at 12 o’clock. Holding down A moves the hands at high speed.

5. Pressing B exits the home position adjustment mode and enters the Timekeeping Mode.

To manually set the time and date on your CASIO 4303, use the Timekeeping Mode. If you become confused during the procedure, do not perform any button operation for about three minutes, and the watch will automatically return to Timekeeping Mode.

1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down B for about five seconds. The second hand will move to 12 o’clock.

2. Press B to cycle through the settings in the following sequence: Time Zone -> DST -> Seconds -> Hour -> Minutes -> Year -> Month -> Day -> Day of the Week Language -> Auto Receive.

3. When the setting you want to change is selected, use A to change it as shown below:

• Time Zones: Press A to cycle through time zones.

• DST: Press A to toggle between Daylight Saving Time (On), Standard Time (Off), or Auto DST (AT).

• Seconds: Press A to reset the seconds to 00.

• Hour: Press A to change the hour.

• Minutes: Press A to change the minutes.

• Year: Press A to change the year.

• Month: Press A to change the month.

• Day: Press A to change the day.

• Day of the week languages: Press A to cycle through English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian.

• Auto Receive: Press A to toggle signal auto receive on and off (this is only possible for time zones that support signal reception).

4. Press B to exit the setting mode. This will cause the hands to move to the current time and resume normal movement.

The time calibration signals include both Standard Time and DST data. When Auto DST is on, the CASIO 4303 switches automatically. If you experience problems receiving the signal, you can switch manually.

1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down B until the currently selected Time Zone appears on the display.

2. Press B and the DST setting screen appears.

3. Use A to cycle through the DST settings in the sequence: Auto DST (AT) -> DST on (On) -> DST off (OF).

4. When the setting you want is selected, press B nine times to exit the setting screen.

Please note the following precautions for your CASIO 4303 watch:

• Strong electrostatic charge can result in the wrong time being set.

• Even within the reception range, signal reception will be impossible if the signal is blocked by mountains or other geological formations.

• Signal reception is affected by weather, atmospheric conditions, and seasonal changes.

• The time calibration signal bounces off the ionosphere. Factors like changes in the ionosphere’s reflectivity or movement may change the reception range and make reception temporarily impossible.

• Even if the signal is received properly, certain conditions can cause the time setting to be off by up to one second.

• The current time setting in accordance with the time calibration signal takes priority over any time settings you make manually.

• The watch is designed to update the date and day of the week automatically for the period January 1, 2001, to December 31, 2098. Setting the date via the signal cannot be performed starting from January 1, 2099.

• This watch can receive signals that differentiate between leap years and non-leap years.

• If you are in an area where proper time calibration signal reception is impossible, the watch keeps time within ±20 seconds a month at normal temperature.

The time calibration signal received by your CASIO 4303 depends on the currently selected home time zone:

• When a U.S. time zone is selected, the watch receives the time calibration signal transmitted from the United States (Fort Collins).

• When a European time zone is selected, the watch receives the time calibration signal transmitted from England (Rugby).
