Should you need to replace the plug, the wires in the power cable are coloured as follows:

Blue – Neutral ‘N’

Brown – Live ‘L’

Green & Yellow – Earth ‘E’

As the colours may not correspond with the markings in your plug, proceed as follows:

• The green & yellow wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol.

• The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter N.

• The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter L.

If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard.

What should I do before using the chest freezer for the first time?

1. Ensure good air circulation around the positioned appliance.

2. Adjust the feet for perfect levelling.

3. Clean the compartment as recommended in “Care and Maintenance”.

4. Plug in the appliance; the power light will come on. The compressor starting up may produce some background noise, which is normal.

How do I adjust the temperature?

• Connect the unit to the mains; the power indicator will light up (green colour).

• The temperature control knob has MIN and MAX settings. MIN indicates the position to set the temperature increase (warmer). MAX indicates the position to set the temperature decrease (colder).

• If the knob is pointing to the area with “COOLING”, the internal temperature will be set as a cooling zone (between 10°C to 0°C).

• If it is pointing to the area with “FREEZING”, the internal temperature will be set as a freezing zone (between -12°C to -24°C).

What does the indicator light mean?

The Power (Green) indicator light will be illuminated when the unit is connected to the power supply.

What are some useful tips for storing food and hygiene?

• Frequent door openings can cause internal temperature rise, so the door should be closed as soon as possible after use.

• For hygiene reasons, always pack, wrap, and cover food before storing.

• Food should cool to room temperature before storing.

• Do not fill the appliance with too much food: cold air must circulate freely for food to be preserved properly.

• Never re-freeze anything that has thawed out unless you cook it again to kill off harmful bacteria.

• Never re-freeze thawed shellfish.

• Re-seal packs properly after removing items to prevent drying or ‘freezer burn’ and frost build-up.

• The freezer compartment is 4 Star rated (* * * *) suitable for freezing and storage of pre-frozen food.

• Check the food packaging for storage suggestions (* * * *).

• A high temperature setting may accelerate food spoilage and increase food waste. For optimum food preservation, a middle temperature setting is generally the most safe and suitable.

How can I save energy with my chest freezer?

• Place your freezer away from direct sunlight, your oven, or any other heat sources. Leave space on both sides (20cm) and back (20cm).

• A higher cold setting (closer to MAX) will use more energy. Do not set to maximum cold if it is not necessary.

• Frequent opening and closing of the door causes internal temperature rise and consumes more energy.

• Close the door(s) properly and ensure the seals and hinges are airtight. Check the seals by putting a sheet of paper between the door and the main body; if the paper moves, your seals need replacing.

• Defrost regularly. Accumulated ice layer should not be more than 5 mm thick.

• The pre-set position of the basket is already set for the most efficient use of this product.

How should I clean and maintain my chest freezer?

Important: Always unplug the appliance from the power socket during cleaning and maintenance.

• Never use sharp instruments or abrasive substances, soap, household cleaner, detergent, or wax polish for cleaning.

• Use lukewarm water to clean the cabinet of the appliance and wipe it dry.

• Never clean the appliance with flammable fluids. It could cause damage and fire hazard.

• Clean the exterior of the appliance and door seal with a damp cloth and dry it thoroughly.

• Avoid water getting into the temperature control box. Clean with a dry cloth only.

• When the appliance is unplugged, wait for 5 minutes before plugging it in again to avoid overloading the compressor.

• Do not store bottled or canned drinks (especially carbonated drinks) in the freezer compartment as they may explode.

• Avoid prolonged touching of frozen food, ice, or the inner freezer walls/tubing due to risk of frost burns.

• Clean dust behind the refrigerator and on the ground timely to improve cooling effect and energy saving.

• Clean the interior regularly to avoid odor. Check the door gasket regularly for debris.

• Turn off the power before cleaning; remove all food, shelves, drawers, etc.

• Clean the door gasket with mild soap and water.

• Use a soft cloth or sponge to clean the inside with two tablespoons of baking soda and a quart of warm water. Rinse with water, wipe clean, open the door, and let it dry naturally before turning the power on.

• For difficult-to-clean areas (narrow gaps, corners), wipe regularly with a soft rag, soft brush, etc., and use auxiliary tools (like thin sticks) if needed.

• Do not use soap, detergent, scrub powder, spray cleaner, etc., inside as these may cause odors.

• Clean the bottle frame, shelves, and drawers with a mild detergent and dry with a soft cloth.

• Wipe the outer surface with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water, detergent, etc., then wipe dry.

• Do not use hard brushes, clean steel balls, wire brushes, abrasives (like toothpastes), organic solvents (alcohol, acetone, banana oil, etc.), boiling water, acid, or alkaline items. Boiling water and benzene may deform or damage plastic parts.

• Do not rinse with water so as not to affect the electrical insulation properties.

How do I defrost the chest freezer?

• The appliance requires defrosting once or twice a year when the ice layer thickness reaches 5-10mm.

• Unplug the appliance from the mains before defrosting.

• Remove all frozen food from the freezer, roll it firmly in newspapers, and put it into a container in a cool place for temporary storage.

• Use an ice scraper or similar tool (included scraper) to remove the ice layer. This process can be sped up by placing a pot of warm water inside the freezer.

• Open the drain hole cap by turning it anti-clockwise to empty the defrosting water. There are two drain hole caps: one is located on the bottom surface of the compartment, and the other is located on the outer housing, same surface as the control panel.

• Clean the freezer and cover the drain hole.

• Turn on the freezer and set it to the maximum temperature. Refill the frozen food into the freezer.

• This process should be completed within 2 hours.

What should I do in case of a power failure?

Contact the electricity supply company and take the following actions:

• If it lasts within 24 hours: Keep the doors closed. This will allow stored food to stay cold as long as possible.

• If it lasts more than 24 hours: Empty the freezer compartment and temporarily store the food in a portable freezer or use artificial ice packs. Try to use up the food which is more easily perishable.

Remarks: A full appliance will stay cold longer than a partially filled one. If ice crystals are still visible on the food, it may be frozen again, although flavour and aroma may be affected. If food is found to be in poor condition, it is best to throw it away.

What should I do if I’m going on vacation?

• Short vacation (2-3 weeks): There is no need to disconnect the appliance. Use up the perishable food.

• Long vacation (3 weeks or more): Remove all the food. Unplug the appliance and leave the doors open to provide air circulation to prevent odour and mould.

How do I move the appliance?

Refer to the “Transportation” section under “Installation”. Follow the guidelines for transporting the appliance safely and correctly.
