This appliance can be operated by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and have understood the resulting hazards. Children are not allowed to play with the device.

Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be carried out by children unless they are supervised.

Make sure that children under 3 years of age and pets cannot reach the device.

For safe installation, please follow these guidelines:

WARNING – Risk of electric shock!

• Only connect and use the device according to the information on the rating plate.

• Only connect the device to an alternating current mains via a properly installed earthed socket.

• The protective earth system of the electrical domestic installation must be installed in accordance with electrical regulations and have a sufficiently large core diameter.

• When using an earth leakage circuit breaker, only use a type with the appropriate sign.

• Never power the device via an external switching device, for example a timer switch or remote control.

• Never connect the appliance to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility company.

• The mains plug must be freely accessible. If not, an all-pole disconnection device must be installed in the permanently installed electrical installation.

• Ensure the power cord is not pinched or damaged when setting up the device.

• Never bring the power cable into contact with hot appliance parts, heat sources, or sharp points/edges.

• Never kink, pinch, or alter the power cord.

• Do not move the device by its protruding parts (e.g., the loading door).

• Do not touch the device on sharp edges. Use safety gloves when installing and transporting.

To ensure safer use of your BOSCH WNG254A7NL, please adhere to the following:

Risk of electric shock:

• Never use a damaged device or power cord.

• Always pull the plug on the power cord to disconnect, not the cord itself.

• If damaged, unplug immediately and contact the service department.

• Only use the device in closed rooms, away from excessive heat and humidity.

• Do not use steam cleaners, high-pressure cleaners, hoses, or nozzles to clean the device.

Risk of health hazard:

• Do not place the appliance behind a door that blocks or prevents the appliance door from opening.

• On discarded appliances, unplug and cut the power cord, and damage the door lock so it no longer closes.

Risk of suffocation:

• Keep small parts away from children.

Risk of explosion:

• Keep the area around the device clean from coal dust or flour.

• Remove highly flammable objects (lighters, matches) from laundry pockets before drying.

• Do not dry unwashed laundry. If laundry came into contact with solvents, oil, wax, paint, grease, or stain removers, rinse it thoroughly with hot water and detergent before drying.

• Do not use the appliance if laundry was cleaned with industrial chemicals.

• Rinse pre-treated laundry thoroughly with water before washing.

Risk of fire:

• If drying is stopped prematurely, the laundry has not been cooled sufficiently and could catch fire. Do not cancel the drying program prematurely. Immediately remove and spread out the laundry.

Risk of injury:

• Do not climb on the device.

• Do not sit or lean on the open door.

• Wait until the drum has come to a complete stop before reaching into it.

Risk of burns:

• Soapy water becomes hot at high temperatures. Do not touch it.

Risk of chemical burns:

• Detergents may splash out when opening the drawer. In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse thoroughly with clean water. If swallowed, consult a doctor. Keep products away from children.

WARNING – Risk of electric shock!

• Improper repairs are dangerous. Only trained specialist personnel may carry out repairs.

• Only original spare parts may be used for repairs.

• If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or qualified personnel.

• Do not use a steam cleaner, high-pressure cleaner, hoses, or nozzles to clean the device.

• Using non-original spare parts and accessories is dangerous. Use only original parts from the manufacturer.

WARNING – Risk of poisoning!

• Do not use cleaning agents containing solvents, as they can produce toxic fumes.

To prevent material damage to your appliance, follow these guidelines:

• Follow the manufacturer’s dosage recommendations for detergents and fabric softeners.

• Do not exceed the maximum load quantity for each program.

• Do not dry laundry containing foam or foam rubber.

• Completely remove all transport locks before commissioning the appliance. Reinstall them before any transport.

• Tighten the screw connections on the water supply hand-tight.

• Connect the water supply hose directly to the tap without adapters, extensions, or valves.

• Ensure the inside diameter of the water tap is at least 17 mm and the thread length is at least 10 mm.

• The water pressure must be between 100 kPa (1 bar) and 1000 kPa (10 bar). If it exceeds the maximum, install a pressure-reducing valve.

• Do not connect the device to a pressureless water heater or boiler.

• Never kink, pinch, modify, or cut water hoses. Use only the supplied or original spare hoses.

• Only use the device with cold tap water.

• Do not use sharp or abrasive cleaning agents.

To use less electricity and water with your BOSCH WNG254A7NL, follow these tips:

• Use programs with low temperatures and longer washing times, and use the maximum load capacity.

• Dose detergent according to the degree of soiling. For mild to normal soiling, a small amount is sufficient.

• Reduce washing temperature for lightly and normally soiled laundry. Lower temperatures use less energy.

• Set the maximum spin speed if the laundry will be dried in the appliance. A higher spin speed reduces residual moisture, shortening drying time and saving energy.

• Wash laundry without prewash. Washing with prewash extends the program and increases energy and water consumption.

• The appliance has an automatic load adjustment that optimally adapts water consumption and program duration to the textile type and load capacity.

• The appliance has an aqua sensor that monitors the turbidity of the rinse water and adjusts the duration and number of rinse cycles accordingly.

Follow these steps to unpack your BOSCH WNG254A7NL:

1. Completely remove all packaging materials and protections from the device.

2. Check the device for any visible damage.

3. Open the door.

4. Remove all supplied accessories and items from the drum.

5. Close the door.

Note: Objects left in the drum that are not intended for use with the appliance can cause damage to property and equipment.

The device contains live parts. Touching live parts is dangerous. Do not use the device without a cover plate.

WARNING: Risk of injury! When used on a pedestal, the device may tip over. The device feet must be placed on a base with mountings confirmed by the manufacturer.

Note: Do not place or use the device in frost-sensitive locations or outdoors. If the device is tilted more than 40°, residual water can escape and cause material damage.

The table below outlines the requirements for various staging locations:

The device is secured for transport with locks on the rear. Save the bolts and sleeves for later transport.

1. Pull the hoses out of the holders.

2. Loosen and remove all 4 transport lock bolts with an open-end wrench (spanner width 13).

3. Remove the mains connection cable from its holder.

4. Remove the 4 sleeves.

5. Place the 4 cover caps over the openings.

6. Slide the 4 cover caps downwards to secure them.

To reinstall the transport locks, reverse these steps.

Connecting the Water Supply Hose:

1. Connect the water supply hose to the tap (26.4 mm = 3/4″). Ensure a minimum tap inner diameter of 17 mm and a minimum thread length of 10 mm.

2. Open the tap carefully and check that the connections are tight.

Connecting the Water Drain Hose:

The water drain hose is under pressure during draining and can become loose. Secure it against unintentional loosening.

The pumping heights are: minimum 60 cm, maximum 100 cm.

• Siphon connection: Tie with a hose clamp (24-40 mm).

• Washbasin connection: Use a bend to fix the drain hose.

• Plastic standpipe with rubber muff: Use a bend to fix the drain hose.

To reduce noise and vibration, and to prevent the device from walking, place the device horizontally.

1. Turn the lock nuts clockwise with a wrench (spanner width 17).

2. To adjust the device, turn the device feet. Check the horizontal adjustment of the device with a spirit level. All device feet must be firmly on the ground.

3. Tighten the lock nuts hand-tight against the housing with a wrench (spanner width 17). Hold the device foot and do not adjust the height while tightening.

Your device was thoroughly checked before leaving the factory. To remove any residual water, wash without laundry the first time.

1. Press the program selector to select “Cotton 90°C”.

2. Close the door.

3. Pull out the detergent drawer.

4. Pour powder detergent into the manual dosing compartment. To avoid foaming, use only half the amount recommended by the detergent manufacturer for light soiling. Do not use wool or delicate detergent.

5. Slide the detergent drawer into the appliance.

6. Press Start/Refill to start the program.

7. After the program ends, the display will show “End”. Press the program selector to “Off” to switch off the device.

The selection of program settings depends on the selected program. Here are the functions of the buttons:

The drying target determines how dry or damp your laundry is at the end of the program.

To change the drying target:

1. Set a program for washing and drying, or for drying only.

2. Press the “Drying purpose” button. The display will cycle through the available drying targets.

The following programs are available on your BOSCH WNG254A7NL wash-dry machine. Note that “Max. bela-thing (kg)” refers to the maximum load for washing, and “max. bela-thing (kg) Dro-gene” refers to the maximum load for drying.

To protect the appliance and the textiles, prepare your laundry as follows:

• Remove all objects from the laundry pockets before use.

• Brush out sand and soil.

• Sort laundry by color and fabric type, adhering to care labels.

• Close zippers, Velcro closures, snags, and eyes.

• Tie fabric belts, fabric straps, and cords together.

• Remove curtain rollers and lead edges.

• Wash small or sensitive items in a laundry net.

• Wash large and small pieces of laundry together.

• Wash laundry with stains immediately.

• Pre-treat and wash laundry with dried stains several times.

• Unfold laundry before placing it in the drum.

• Spin dry laundry before putting it in for a drying-only cycle.

Follow these steps for basic operation:

1. Switching on the device:

• Set the program selector to a program. An audible function test is performed.

2. Set program:

• Turn the program selector to the desired program.

3. Adjust program settings (if desired):

• Use the buttons to adjust temperature, spin speed, etc. These settings are not permanently stored.

4. Fill the drum with laundry:

• Ensure laundry is prepared and sorted, and the drum is empty.

• Open the door, place laundry in the drum, and close the door, making sure no items are stuck.

5. Dosing detergent:

• For programs where intelligent dosing (i-DOS) is not possible or desired, you can dose manually.

• Pull out the detergent drawer, fill with detergent, and slide the drawer back in.

6. Starting the program:

• Press Start/Refill. The drum will turn for load recognition (up to 2 minutes), then water will flow in. The display shows the program duration.

Cancel washing program:

1. Press Start/Refill.

2. Open the door. Note: At high temperatures and water levels, the door remains locked for safety. To open, you must first start a program like “To rinse” or “Centrifuge” to cool down or drain the water.

3. Remove the laundry.

Cancel drying program:

• Set the program selector to another program. The door lock will open after a several-minute cooling time automatically.

To activate the child lock:

• Press and hold both the “Anti wrinkle” and “Ready in / Dry time” keys for approximately 3 seconds. The key symbol will appear on the display, and the controls will be blocked.

To deactivate the child lock:

• The device must be switched on.

• Press and hold both the “Anti wrinkle” and “Ready in / Dry time” keys for approximately 3 seconds. The key symbol will go out in the display.

Starting a program with i-DOS:

This function is available depending on the program set and is activated automatically.

1. Prepare and load the laundry.

2. Ensure the i-DOS reservoirs are filled.

3. Set the program.

4. If necessary, adjust the basic dosing amount.

5. Adjust any other desired program settings.

6. Start the program.

Filling the i-DOS reservoir:

1. Pull out the detergent drawer.

2. Open the filling lid for the liquid detergent or fabric softener reservoir.

3. Add the product, not exceeding the maximum filling level mark.

4. Close the filling lid immediately to prevent the product from drying out.

5. Slide the detergent drawer into the appliance.

Adjusting the basic dosage amount:

The basic dosage amount should be adapted to a standard load of 4.5 kg, based on the detergent manufacturer’s information, water hardness, and soiling level.

1. Press and hold the i-DOS button for approx. 3 seconds.

2. The display shows the set basic dosage amount for detergent (droplet symbol) or softener (flower symbol).

3. Press the i-DOS button to toggle between detergent and softener.

4. Press “Ready in / Dry time” to adjust the setting.

5. To end the setting, wait briefly.

Permanent washing at low temperatures and lack of ventilation can damage the drum and cause injuries.

• Regularly run a drum cleaning program or wash at temperatures of at least 60°C.

• Allow the appliance to dry with the door and detergent drawer open after each use.

• Run the “Cotton 90°C” program without laundry and with a cleaning agent or bleach-containing powder detergent to maintain the interior of the appliance.

If the detergent drawer is dirty or you want to replace the product in the i-DOS reservoir, clean the drawer.

Note: The pump unit contains electrical components. Do not clean it in the dishwasher or immerse it in water. Protect the electrical connections from moisture.

1. Turn off the device.

2. Pull out the detergent drawer.

3. Press the insert down and remove the detergent drawer.

4. Remove the pump unit.

5. Unlock and remove the detergent drawer lid.

6. Empty the detergent drawer.

7. Clean the pump unit with a damp cloth.

8. Clean the detergent drawer and lid with a soft, damp cloth or hand shower.

9. Insert the detergent drawer, dry the lid and the pump unit, and install them.

10. Clean the housing of the detergent drawer in the appliance.

11. Slide the detergent drawer back into the appliance.

Clean the drain pump regularly, at least once a year, or in case of blockages.

Empty the drain pump:

1. Close the water tap.

2. Turn off the device.

3. Disconnect the plug from the mains.

4. Open and remove the service door.

5. Place a sufficiently large container under the opening.

6. Remove the drain hose from the holder.

7. CAUTION – Risk of burns! Hot soapy water may be present. Pull off the cap to allow the water to flow into the container.

8. Press the stopper back on.

9. Clamp the drain hose back in the holder.

Clean the drain pump:

1. Since residual water may still be in the pump, carefully remove the lid.

2. Clean the interior, threads of the pump cover, and pump housing.

3. Make sure that both wing wheels can be turned.

4. Install the pump cover.

5. Tighten the pump cover as far as it will go. The handle must be vertical.

6. Install and close the service flap.

Here are some common malfunctions and how to troubleshoot them:

To unlock the door in case of a power outage or malfunction:

Required: The drain pump must be empty.

PLEASE NOTE! Running water can lead to property damage. Do not open the door if water is visible behind the glass.

1. Open the service door at the bottom of the machine.

2. Pull the black emergency release tab downwards using a tool and release it. The door lock will unlock.

3. Place the service flap back on and click it into place.

4. Close the service flap.

Dismantling the device:

1. Close the tap.

2. Empty the water supply hose.

3. Turn off the device.

4. Unplug the appliance.

5. Drain the remaining water by cleaning the drain pump.

6. Dismantle the hoses.

7. Empty the dosing containers.

Installing transport protection devices:

To avoid transport damage, secure the device with transport locks before transport.

1. Remove the 4 covers using a screwdriver. Keep the covers.

2. Install the 4 transport locks (sleeves and bolts) that you saved from the initial installation.
