The BOSCH SPU68M05AU is intended for use in the home and home environment. It is designed only for the household purpose of washing domestic dishes.

The button lock prevents the programme from being terminated unintentionally. To activate it:

1. Start the required programme.

2. Hold down the B button for approximately 4 seconds until CL is indicated on the digital display.

If any button is pressed while the programme is running, CL will be indicated on the digital display, and it will not be possible to end or reset the programme.

To deactivate the button lock, hold down the B button for approximately 4 seconds until the CL display goes out. The button lock is also automatically cancelled when the programme ends and 0:00 is shown on the digital display. Note that if there is a power failure, the button lock is retained.

The following settings can be adjusted on the appliance:

Intensive drying: d:00 to d:01

Rinse aid: r:00 to r:06

Automatic disconnection: P:00 to P:02

Refill the rinse aid when the refill indicator is lit on the fascia. To add rinse aid:

1. Open the dispenser by pressing and lifting the plate on the cover.

2. Carefully pour rinse aid up to the max mark in the filler opening.

3. Close the cover until it clicks shut.

4. Remove any spilled rinse aid with a cloth to prevent excessive foam formation during the next cycle.

The amount of rinse aid can be set from r:00 to r:06. The factory setting is r:04. To change it:

1. Close the door.

2. Switch on the ON/OFF switch.

3. Hold down the programme button A and press the START button until d:00 is indicated on the digital display.

4. Release both buttons.

5. Press the programme button A until the factory set value r:04 is indicated on the display.

6. Press the programme button C. Each time the button is pressed, the value increases by one level. When r:06 is reached, it jumps back to r:00 (off).

7. Press the START button to save the setting.

The following items should not be washed in the dishwasher:

Cutlery and utensils made of wood.

Delicate decorative glasses, craft, and antique utensils that are not dishwasher proof.

Plastic parts that are not heat resistant.

Copper and tin utensils.

Utensils soiled with ash, wax, lubricating grease, or ink.

Aluminium and silver parts may discolour or fade, and some types of glass may turn cloudy after many wash cycles.

1. Remove large food remnants; prerinsing under running water is not necessary.

2. Place utensils securely so they cannot tip over.

3. Place all utensils with their openings facing down.

4. Place parts with curves or indentations at an angle so water can drain.

5. Ensure that utensils do not obstruct the rotation of the two spray arms.

6. Do not wash very small utensils in the machine as they may fall out of the baskets.

7. Place heavily soiled utensils like pans in the bottom basket for a better wash result.

The top basket height can be adjusted in three stages to create more space in either the upper or lower basket. Use the following steps:

1. Pull out the top basket.

2. To lower the basket: Press in the left and then the right lever on the outside of the basket. Hold the sides of the basket along the upper edge to prevent it from dropping suddenly.

3. To raise the basket: Hold the basket on the sides of the upper edge and lift it up.

4. Ensure the basket is at the same height on both sides before reinserting it.

1. If the detergent dispenser is closed, press the lock to open it.

2. Pour detergent into the dry dispenser. If using a tablet, insert it flat. Dosage for normal soiling is usually 20 ml to 25 ml.

3. Close the cover by sliding it up until the lock engages.

The dispenser will open automatically at the optimum time during the programme. For short programmes, it is recommended to use washing powder as tablets may not dissolve completely.

The following options can be set with the additional option buttons:

Express Wash / Speed Perfect (VarioSpeed): Reduces running time by 20% to 50%, though water and energy consumption increase.

Half Load: For fewer items, saving water, energy, and time.

Hygiene: Increases temperature during the cleaning process for a higher hygiene status, ideal for chopping boards or baby bottles.

Intensive Zone: Increases spray pressure and rinsing temperature in the lower basket for mixed loads with heavily soiled pots.

Extra Drying: Uses an increased temperature during the final rinse and an extended drying phase for better results on plastic parts.

You can delay the start of a programme in 1 hour steps up to 24 hours:

1. Close the door.

2. Switch on the ON/OFF switch.

3. Press the Timer Programming (+) button until the display jumps to h:01.

4. Press the (+) or (-) buttons until the displayed time meets your requirements.

5. Press the START button to activate timer programming.

6. To delete the timer, press the (+) or (-) buttons until h:00 is indicated.

1. Press the START button for approximately 3 seconds. The numerical display will indicate 0:01.

2. The programme sequence lasts about 1 minute. When the display indicates 0:00, the programme has ended.

3. Switch off the ON/OFF switch.

The filter system consists of a coarse filter, a flat fine filter, and a microfilter. To clean them:

1. Check the filters for residue after each washing cycle.

2. Unscrew the filter cylinder and take out the filter system.

3. Remove any residue and clean the filters under running water.

4. Reinstall the filter system in reverse sequence. Ensure the arrow marks are opposite each other after closing the filter system.

Limescale and contaminants in the water can block the nozzles. To clean them:

1. Check the outlet nozzles for blockages.

2. Unscrew the upper spray arms (one quarter revolution).

3. Remove the lower spray arm upwards.

4. Clean the spray arms under running water.

5. Re-engage or screw the spray arms back on.

If rinsing water remains above the filter, the waste water pump may be blocked. To clean it:

1. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply.

2. Remove the baskets and filters.

3. Scoop out the water with a sponge.

4. Prise out the white pump cover using a spoon. Grip the cover on the crosspiece and lift diagonally inwards to remove it completely.

5. Check the impeller wheel and remove any foreign objects.

6. Place the cover back in its original position and press down until it clicks into place.

7. Reinstall filters and baskets.

Follow these remedial actions for common error codes:

To prevent residual water from damaging the control, drain the appliance using these steps:

1. Turn on the tap.

2. Close the door.

3. Switch on the ON/OFF switch.

4. Select the programme with the highest temperature.

5. Press the START button and wait approximately 4 minutes.

6. Press the START button until 0:01 is indicated on the display.

7. Wait until 0:00 is indicated (approximately 1 minute).

8. Switch off the appliance and turn off the tap.

9. Disconnect the supply hose and drain the water. Transport the appliance upright only.
