What is the intended use of this blender?
This appliance is intended for domestic use only. Use the appliance only for processing normal quantities of food and for normal amounts of time for domestic use. This appliance is suitable for mixing liquid or semi-solid food, for cutting / mincing raw fruit and vegetables, for puréeing food and for cutting deep-frozen food (e.g. fruit) or crushing ice cubes. It must not be used for processing other objects or substances. Additional applications are possible if the accessories approved by the manufacturer are used. Only use the appliance with approved genuine parts and accessories. Never use the accessory parts for other appliances. Only use the appliance indoors at room temperature and up to 2000 m above sea level.
What are the important safety instructions regarding electric shock and fire?
Connect and operate the appliance only in accordance with the specifications on the rating plate.
Do not use the appliance if the power cord and/or appliance are damaged. Only our customer service may repair the appliance, e.g. by replacing a damaged power cord, in order to avoid hazards.
Do not place the appliance on or near hot surfaces, e.g. hobs. The power cord must not come into contact with hot parts or be pulled across sharp edges.
Never immerse the base unit in water or place it in the dishwasher. Do not steam-clean the appliance. Do not use the appliance with damp hands.
After each use, whenever the appliance is unsupervised, prior to assembly, prior to disassembly, prior to cleaning and in the event of an error, the appliance must always be disconnected from the mains.
What precautions should be taken to avoid injury from the blades?
Care should be taken when handling the sharp cutting blades, emptying the container and during cleaning.
Before replacing accessories or additional parts which move during operation, the appliance must be switched off and disconnected from the power supply.
Never place fingers in the attached blender. Never operate the appliance without a completely assembled blender or attached lid!
Do not remove or attach blender jug until the appliance has been switched off and the drive has come to a standstill. When the appliance has been switched off, the blade continues running for a short time.
If there is a power cut, the appliance remains switched on and will start up again when the power is restored.
How can I avoid the risk of scalding when processing hot liquids?
Caution when processing hot liquids.
If processing hot liquids, steam escapes through the funnel in the lid. Add a maximum of 0.5 litres of hot or frothing liquid.
While working, always hold the lid firmly with one hand. However, do not place hand over the refill opening!
Do not process more than 500 ml of hot liquid in the blender jug!
What is the risk of suffocation associated with this appliance?
Do not allow children to play with packaging material.
Are there any important operational recommendations?
We recommend that the appliance is never switched on for longer than is necessary to process the ingredients. Do not operate at no-load.
It is essential to clean the appliance thoroughly after each use or after it has not been used for an extended period.
Never operate an empty blender. Always work with a completely assembled appliance. Screw the blender jug fully onto the motor block.
How does the Start lock-out safety system work?
The appliance cannot be switched on until the blender jug has been turned firmly into place.
What is Automatic Disconnection?
The appliance switches off automatically if the blender jug accidentally becomes detached during operation.
What happens if the Overload Protection is activated?
If the motor switches itself off while the appliance is being used, the overload protection feature has been activated. Possible causes include very large amounts of ingredients or the appliance being operated too long. If a safety system is activated, see “Troubleshooting”.

How do I prepare the blender for first use or operation?
Before operating the appliance and accessories for the first time, clean thoroughly; see “Cleaning and servicing”.
Place motor block on smooth, stable and clean base.
Unwind the cable to the required length.
How do I operate the blender with the plastic jug (MMB21…)?
Attach blender jug to the drive on the motor block. Arrow on the blender jug points towards the dot on the motor block.
Attach blender jug by turning it all the way clockwise.
Add ingredients.
Put lid on and press down all the way. Insert measuring cup into feed tube.
Insert the mains plug.
Turn rotary switch to the required operating speed.
Grip the edge of the lid while operating the blender. Do not grip the feed tube!
How do I add more ingredients when using the plastic jug (MMB21…)?
Set the rotary switch to 0/off.
Either:
Remove lid.
Add more ingredients.
Or:
Take out measuring cup.
Add liquids and solid (fairly small) ingredients through the feed tube in the lid.
Switch on appliance again.
What should I do after using the plastic jug (MMB21…)?
Set the rotary switch to 0/off.
Remove mains plug.
Remove the blender by rotating it in an anti-clockwise direction.
Take the lid off the blender jug.
Empty blender jug.
Clean all parts, see “Cleaning and servicing”.
How do I assemble and operate the blender with the glass jug (MMB42…)?
Put blender jug down with the base face up.
Place seal on the blade holder. Ensure that the seal is positioned correctly. Important: If the seal is damaged or not correctly positioned, liquid may run out.
Grip blade holder by the handle and insert into the blender jug (note shape of parts).
Move handle to lock the blade holder in the blender jug.
Turn blender jug over.
Attach blender jug to the drive on the motor block. Arrow on the blender jug points towards the dot on the motor block.
Attach blender jug by turning it all the way clockwise.
Add ingredients.
Put lid on and press down all the way. Insert measuring cup into feed tube.
Insert the mains plug.

How do I use the smoothie insert (if available)?
With this insert it is particularly easy to make smoothies made of fresh fruits, milk, soya milk, yoghurt and juices.
Prepare blender as described above (assemble jug, attach to base).
After attaching and screwing on the blender jug, the smoothie insert is inserted into the blender jug.
Put lid on and press down all the way.
Insert the mains plug.
Put ingredients through the feed tube into the blender jug; chop up fruit beforehand if required.
Warning! Do not put large, hard ingredients in the blender jug, e.g. stones from avocados or plums.
Insert measuring cup into feed tube.
Switch on the appliance.
After using the smoothie insert:
Set the rotary switch to 0/off.
Remove mains plug.
Remove the blender jug by rotating it in an anti-clockwise direction.
Remove lid.
Take measuring cup out of the lid and plug into the smoothie insert. This prevents integral components from falling out of the insert into the drink.
Empty blender jug.
Clean all parts, see “Cleaning and servicing”.
How should I clean the blender and its parts?
The appliance requires no maintenance! Thorough cleaning guarantees a long service life.
Risk of electric shock! Never immerse the motor block in water and never hold under running water and do not clean in the dishwasher.
Warning! Do not use abrasive cleaning agents. Surfaces may be damaged.
Tips:
Preferably clean the parts immediately after use. This will prevent residue from drying on and attacking the plastic (e.g. by essential oils in herbs).
If processing e.g. carrots and red cabbage, the plastic parts will become discoloured by a red film which can be removed with a few drops of cooking oil.
Cleaning the motor block:
Remove mains plug.
Wipe motor block with a damp cloth. If required, use a little detergent.
Then wipe dry.
Cleaning the blender:
The blender jug, lid and measuring cup are dishwasher-safe.
Tip: Pour a little water and washing-up liquid into the attached blender. Switch to setting Pulse for several seconds. Pour out the water and rinse the blender with clean water.
Cleaning blade holder (only MMB42…):
Risk of injury from sharp blades! Do not touch blender blades with bare hands. Clean them with a brush.
Do not clean blade holder in the dishwasher, but under running water using a brush. Do not leave in water! Remove seal for cleaning.
What should I do if the blender does not start or switches off during operation?
Risk of injury! Before rectifying a fault, pull out the mains plug.
Fault: Blender does not start or appliance switches off during operation.
Possible cause: Blender jug has become detached.
Remedial action:
Set the rotary switch to 0/off.
Correctly attach the blender and rotate fully into position.
Switch the appliance on again.
Fault: Appliance switches off during use.
Possible cause: The overload protection device is activated.
Remedial action:
Set the rotary switch to 0/off.
Remove mains plug.
Leave the appliance to cool down for approx. 1 hour in order to deactivate the overload protection device.
Insert the mains plug.
Switch the appliance on again.
If the appliance does not start, leave the appliance to cool again and try it again later.
Important information: If the fault cannot be eliminated, please contact customer service.
What are the general notes for preparing recipes?
First mix the solid ingredients with half the amount of liquid, then add the remainder of the liquid.
When preparing smoothies, place the mixing beaker back into position after draining it and briefly switch on the highest level in order to obtain the remaining liquid.
How do I make Mayonnaise?
Note: Mayonnaise can be prepared in the blender with whole eggs only.
Basic recipe:
1 egg
15 g vinegar or lemon juice
1 pinch of salt
1 pinch of sugar
250 ml oil
Ingredients must be at the same temperature.
Switch on the blender at low speed.
Process the ingredients (except the oil) at low speed for several seconds.
Switch the blender to maximum speed, slowly pour the oil through the funnel and blend for approx. 2 minutes.
How do I make Hot Chocolate?
Ingredients:
50-75 g frozen cooking chocolate
½ l hot milk
Whipped cream and grated chocolate as required
Method:
Cut the cooking chocolate into pieces (approx. 1 cm) and chop up completely in the blender at maximum speed.
Switch off the blender and add the milk through the funnel.
Blend for 1 minute at maximum speed.
Pour the hot chocolate into glasses and serve with whipped cream and grated chocolate as required.
How do I make a Banana Ice Shake?
Ingredients:
2-3 bananas (ca. 300 g)
2-3 heaped tbs. vanilla or lemon ice cream (80-100 g)
2 packets of vanilla sugar
½ l milk
Method:
Put all ingredients in the blender jug.
Blend for 1 minute at maximum speed.
Tip: This recipe will work even with the smoothie insert.
How do I make a Fruit Sundae (MMB4…)?
Ingredients:
250 g frozen fruit (e.g. strawberries, banana, orange, apple)
50-100 g sugar
500 ml cold water
Ice as required
Method:
Peel fruit and cut into pieces
Freeze fresh fruits before subjecting them to further processing.
Put all ingredients (except the ice) in the blender jug.
Blend for 1 minute at maximum speed.
Serve with the ice cream
How do I make a Sportsman’s Cocktail?
Ingredients:
2-3 oranges (ca 600 g)
1-2 lemons (ca 150 g)
½-1 tbs. sugar or honey
¼ l apple juice
¼ l mineral water
Ice cube as required
Method:
Peel the oranges and apples, cut into pieces
Put all ingredients (except the apple juice and mineral water) in the blender jug.
Blend for 1 minute at maximum speed.
Add the apple juice and mineral water
Blend briefly until the drink is frothy.
Pour the cocktail into glasses and serve as required with ice cubes
How do I make a Green Smoothie?
Ingredients:
1 green apple (ca. 100 g)
Juice of one lemon (approx. 20 g)
20 g kale
10 g celery
10 g coriander leaves
10 g linseeds
1 g ground cinnamon
250 ml cooled water
Method:
Cut apple, celery and kale into pieces.
Put a little of the water in the blender jug.
Put all solid ingredients in the smoothie insert (if available) and top up with water.
Blend for 1 minute at maximum speed.
Tip: This recipe will work even without the smoothie insert.
How do I make a Grape Smoothie (MMB4…)?
Ingredients:
250 g green grapes
25 g baby spinach
100 g frozen banana pieces
200 ml cold green tea (suitable for children)
Method:
Put a little of the tea in the blender jug.
Put grapes, spinach and banana pieces in the smoothie insert (if available) and top up with the remaining tea.
Blend at maximum speed until the smoothie is ready.
How do I make Red Fruit Pudding?
Ingredients:
400 g fruit (pitted sour cherries, raspberries, black/red currants, strawberries, blackberries)
100 ml sour cherry juice
100 ml red wine
80 g sugar
1 packet of vanilla sugar
2 tbs. lemon juice
1 pinch of cloves (ground)
1 pinch of cinnamon (ground)
8 gelatine leaves
Method:
Soak the gelatine in cold water for approx. 10 minutes
Bring all the ingredients (except the gelatine) to the boil
Dry the gelatine and melt in the microwave, but do not cook
Blend the hot fruit and gelatine at medium speed for approx. 1 minute. (Do not process more than 500 ml of hot liquid in the blender jug!)
Pour the red fruit pudding into small bowls rinsed out with cold water and refrigerate
Tip: Red fruit pudding tastes good with whipped cream or vanilla sauce.
How do I make Basil Pesto?
Ingredients:
10 g pine nuts
3 g garlic
5 g salt
40 g Parmesan cheese
10 g fresh basil
70 g olive oil
Method:
Put pine nuts, garlic, salt and Parmesan cheese in the glass container (MMB42… with blade holder) or blender jug.
Grind for 15 seconds on setting Pulse.
Add basil and olive oil and mix everything for 10 seconds on setting Pulse.
How do I make Pumpkin Soup?
Ingredients:
600 g yellow-flesh pumpkin
200 g potatoes
1 l vegetable stock
2 onions
2 garlic cloves
Ground pepper and salt
30 g butter
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
5-6 basil leaves
2-3 sage leaves
1 sprig of parsley
1 sprig of thyme
1 sprig of marjoram
½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Grated Parmesan to taste
Method:
Cut the pumpkin into slices and remove peel and pips. Cut pumpkin into small pieces.
Peel the potatoes and also cut into small pieces.
Peel the onions, chop finely and fry gently in a frying pan with butter, olive oil and chopped garlic.
Add pumpkin and potato pieces and steam until soft, stirring continuously. Gradually pour in the vegetable stock and add the bouquet garni (basil, sage, parsley, thyme, marjoram tied together).
Leave to simmer for approx. 25-30 minutes on a low heat and add more stock if required.
Take out the bouquet garni.
Add salt and pepper to taste, finish off with a pinch of cinnamon and a dash of extra virgin olive oil.
Pour 500 ml of the soup at a time into the blender jug and puree. (Do not process more than 500 ml of hot liquid in the blender jug!)
Serve with finely grated Parmesan.
How do I make Carrot Soup with Cumin?
Ingredients:
780 g carrots
720 ml water
1 tsp cumin
Salt and pepper
Method:
Dice the carrots (approx. 15×15 mm).
Pour the carrots and the water into the blender jug.
Mix for a few seconds at maximum speed.
Pour the mixture into a saucepan and add the cumin.
Cook everything for 30 minutes. You can add water while cooking if you would like the soup to be thinner.
Season with salt and pepper.
