To ensure the safe use of your BENQ AK700ST projector, please follow these important safety instructions:

1. Please read the user manual before you operate your projector. Save it for future reference.

2. Do not look straight at the projector lens during operation. The intense light beam may damage your eyes.

3. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.

4. Always open the lens shutter or remove the lens cap (if any) when the projector light source is on.

5. The light source becomes extremely hot during operation.

6. It is recommended that you connect your projector through a power stabilizer, surge protector or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in areas where the mains voltage may fluctuate or cut out.

7. Do not block the projection lens with any objects when the projector is under operation as this could cause the objects to become heated and deformed or even cause a fire. To temporarily turn off the light source, use the blank function.

8. Do not operate light sources beyond the rated light source life.

9. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The product may fall, sustaining serious damage.

10. Do not attempt to disassemble this projector. There are dangerous high voltages inside. Refer servicing only to suitably qualified professional service personnel.

11. Do not block the ventilation holes. Do not place the projector on a blanket, bedding or any other soft surface, cover it with a cloth, or place inflammables near it.

12. Always place the projector on a level, horizontal surface during operation. Do not use if tilted at an angle of more than 10 degrees left to right, nor at an angle of more than 15 degrees front to back.

13. Do not stand the projector on end vertically.

14. Do not step on the projector or place any objects upon it.

15. When the projector is in operation, you may sense some heated air and odor from its ventilation grill. It is a normal phenomenon and not a product defect.

16. Do not place liquids near or on the projector. If the projector does become wet, disconnect it from the power supply and have it serviced.

17. This product is capable of displaying inverted images for ceiling/wall mount installation.

18. This apparatus must be earthed.

19. Do not place this projector in poorly ventilated or confined spaces, locations with excessively high temperatures, excessive humidity, dust, or cigarette smoke, near fire alarms, or at altitudes higher than 3000 m (10000 feet).

The BENQ AK700ST projector is classified as a Risk Group 2 product (IEC 62471-5:2015), which emits possibly hazardous optical radiation.

• Do not stare at the operating light source. It may be harmful to the eyes.

• As with any bright source, do not stare into the direct beam.

• Supervise children and never allow them to stare into the projector beam at any distance.

• Use caution when using the remote control for starting the projector while in front of the projection lens.

• Avoid the use of optical aids such as binoculars or telescopes inside the beam.

• To avoid damaging the DLP chips, never aim a high-power laser beam into the projection lens.

Note: The supplied accessories will be suitable for your region and may differ from those illustrated.

The optional accessory for the BENQ AK700ST is the Wireless Dongle (EZC-5201BS).

1. Press and open the battery cover, as illustrated.

2. Remove the old batteries (if applicable) and install two AAA batteries. Make sure that the positive and negative ends are positioned correctly.

3. Replace the battery cover until it clicks into place.

Important considerations:

• Avoid leaving the remote control and batteries in an excessively hot or humid environment.

• Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the battery manufacturer.

• Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions and local environmental regulations.

• Never throw batteries into a fire.

• If batteries are dead or if you will not be using the remote for an extended period, remove them to avoid damage from possible leakage.

1. POWER (ON/OFF): Toggles the projector between standby mode and on.

2. POWER/TEMP/LIGHT indicator lights: Show the status of the projector.

3. IR remote sensor: Receives signals from the remote control.

4. BACK: Goes back to the previous OSD menu, exits and saves menu settings.

5. Arrow keys / Keystone keys / Volume keys: Used for menu navigation, keystone correction, and volume adjustment.

6. SOURCE: Displays the source selection bar.

7. FOCUS: Displays the adjustment page for manual focus.

8. OK: Confirms the selected OSD menu item.

23. ID SET: Sets the code (01-99) for the remote control to match the projector’s ID.

24. LIGHT: Selects an available Light Source Mode.

25. 3D: Displays the 3D menu.

26. USER 1/USER 2: Switches to a user-defined picture mode.

The remote control must be held at an angle within 30 degrees perpendicular to the projector’s IR remote control sensor(s) to function correctly. The distance between the remote control and the sensor(s) should not exceed 8 meters (~26 feet). Ensure there are no obstacles between the remote control and the IR sensor(s) on the projector.

You can install your BENQ AK700ST projector in one of the following four ways:

1. Front: The projector is placed on a table in front of the screen. This is the most common method.

2. Rear: The projector is placed on a table behind the screen. A special rear projection screen is required.

3. Front Ceiling: The projector is suspended upside-down in front of the screen. A BenQ Projector Ceiling/Wall Mount Kit is required.

4. Rear Ceiling: The projector is suspended upside-down behind the screen. Both a special rear projection screen and a BenQ Projector Ceiling/Wall Mount Kit are required.

After turning on the projector, go to Advanced Menu > Installation > Projector Position to select the appropriate setting.

The projection dimensions for the BENQ AK700ST with a 16:9 aspect ratio screen are as follows. All measurements are approximate and may vary.

If you intend to mount your BENQ AK700ST, please consider the following:

• Purchase a proper fitting BenQ projector mounting kit to ensure it is securely and safely installed.

• If using a non-BenQ brand mounting kit, there is a safety risk that the projector may fall due to improper attachment.

• It is recommended to also purchase a separate Kensington lock compatible security cable to attach to the projector and the mounting bracket base as a secondary restraint.

• Ask your dealer to install the projector for you. Installing it on your own may cause it to fall and result in injury.

• Take necessary precautions to prevent the projector from falling during an earthquake.

• Consider the surrounding temperature. If a heater is used, the temperature around the ceiling/wall may be higher than expected.

• Read the user manual for the mounting kit regarding the range of torque. Overtightening may cause damage.

• Ensure the power outlet is at an accessible height to easily shut down the projector.

• The Ceiling/Wall mount screw specification is M4 (Max Length = 25 mm; Min Length = 20 mm).

Adjusting the projection angle:

If the projected image is trapezoidal, the projector is not on a flat surface or perpendicular to the screen. You can screw the adjuster feet to fine-tune the horizontal angle. To retract the feet, screw them in the reverse direction.

Adjusting the focus:

You may need to adjust the focus during initial setup, after moving the projector, after adjusting zoom, or if the image is fuzzy.

1. Press FOCUS on the remote control.

2. Press and hold the arrow keys to adjust the focus.

3. Press OK to save and exit.

Do not look into the lens while the light source is on. The strong light may cause damage to your eyes.

The Auto Screen Fit function automatically adjusts the focus, zoom, and aspect ratio of the projected image to fit the screen.

1. Measure the projection distance. Ensure the distance between the projector and screen is slightly longer than the intended projection distance.

2. Turn on the projector and adjust the blank image until it overflows all four borders of the screen.

3. Adjust the projection distance, angle, or zoom until the adjustment markers are within the border of the screen.

4. Press the Auto Screen Fit key on your remote control. The projector will detect the screen’s size and ratio, then fit the focused image to the screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the adjustment.

Note: After using Auto Screen Fit, you can use the Focus function to fine-tune the image if needed.

To correct a distorted image using 3D Keystone on your BENQ AK700ST:

1. Display the 3D Keystone correction page by either pressing the keystone button on the projector or navigating to Basic/Advanced Menu > Installation > 3D Keystone and pressing OK.

2. After the correction page appears, press the left/right arrow keys to select V (Vertical), H (Horizontal), or R (Rotate).

• V corrects the vertical sides keystone.

• H corrects the horizontal sides keystone.

• R rotates the projected image clockwise or counterclockwise.

3. Press the up/down arrow keys to adjust the selected value.

4. To automatically correct the vertical sides, press and hold OK for 2 seconds.

5. When done, press BACK to save your changes and exit.

This function is not available when Warping is enabled.

Corner Fit allows you to manually adjust the four corners of the image.

1. Display the Corner Fit page by either pressing the GEOMETRY key on the remote or navigating to Advanced Menu > Installation > Geometry > Corner Fit and pressing OK.

2. Use the arrow keys to select one corner and press OK.

3. Use the up/down arrow keys to adjust the vertical values.

4. Use the left/right arrow keys to adjust the horizontal values.

When connecting a signal source to your BENQ AK700ST:

1. Turn all equipment off before making any connections.

2. Use the correct signal cables for each source (e.g., HDMI, USB Type-C).

3. Ensure the cables are firmly inserted into the correct ports on the projector and the source device.

Note: Some cables may not be included. If an image is not displayed, check that the source device is on, the cables are connected correctly, and the correct input source is selected on the projector.

The BENQ AK700ST supports wireless projection using the Wireless Dongle (EZC-5201BS) for iOS, macOS, Android, and Windows systems.

1. Insert the wireless dongle into the WIRELESS DONGLE port on the projector.

2. Select Wireless Display from the source selection bar.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions for your specific device.

For iOS/macOS devices:

1. In your device’s WiFi settings, select the same WiFi network that the projector is connected to.

2. Open the control center, press screen mirroring, and choose the projector (BenQ_xxxxxxxx) to start projection.

For Android devices:

Open the Quick settings panel, press the Screen Mirroring icon, and choose the projector (BenQ_xxxxxxxx).

For Windows OS devices:

Press the Windows key + P / K and choose the projector (BenQ_xxxxxxxx).

Starting up the projector:

1. Plug in the power cord. The power indicator on the projector will light orange.

2. Press the power button on the projector or the ON button on the remote control. The power indicator will flash green and then stay solid green when the projector is on.

3. The startup procedure takes about 10 seconds. If it’s the first time, select your OSD language.

4. If prompted, enter your 6-digit password.

5. Switch on all connected equipment. The projector will automatically search for an input signal.

Shutting down the projector:

1. Press the power button on the projector or the OFF button on the remote control. A confirmation message will appear.

2. Press the button a second time. The power indicator will flash orange, the light source will shut down, and the cooling fans will run for a short time.

3. Once the cooling process finishes, the indicator becomes a steady orange, and the fans stop. You can then disconnect the power cord.

Setting a password:

1. Go to Advanced Menu > System > Security Settings > Password and press OK.

2. Highlight Change Password and press OK.

3. Use the four arrow keys (representing digits 1, 2, 3, 4) to enter a six-digit password.

4. Confirm the new password by re-entering it.

5. To activate the password protection, highlight Power On Lock and select On. You will need to input the password again.

Changing the password:

1. Go to Advanced Menu > System > Security Settings > Password and press OK.

2. Highlight Change Password and press OK.

3. Enter the old password.

4. Enter a new password.

5. Confirm the new password by re-entering it.

Disabling the password function:

1. Go to Advanced Menu > System > Security Settings > Password > Power On Lock.

2. Press OK and select Off.

3. Enter the current password to confirm. The OSD menu will disappear, and you will not need to enter the password on startup.

If you forget your password, you can use the password recall procedure:

1. At the password entry prompt, press and hold OK for 3 seconds. The projector will display a coded number on the screen.

2. Write down this number and turn off your projector.

3. Seek help from the local BenQ service center to decode the number. You may be required to provide proof of purchase documentation to verify that you are an authorized user of the projector.

You can extend the light source life by adjusting the Light Source Mode and setting the Auto Power Off feature.

Setting the Light Source Mode:

Go to Advanced Menu > Picture > Advanced Color Settings > Light Source Mode. Setting the projector to ECO, SmartEco, or Custom mode extends the light source life.

• Normal Mode: Provides full light source brightness.
• ECO Mode: Lowers brightness to extend light source life and decreases fan noise.
• SmartEco Mode: Adjusts light source power automatically depending on content brightness while optimizing display quality.
• Custom Mode: Enables the light source brightness adjustment bar for manual setting.

Setting Auto Power Off:

This function allows the projector to turn off automatically if no input signal is detected for a set period.

To set it, go to Advanced Menu > System > Operation Settings > Power On/Off Settings > Auto Power Off and select a time interval.

The indicator lights (POWER, TEMP, LIGHT) on your BENQ AK700ST display the projector’s status. Here is a guide to their meanings:

If your BENQ AK700ST does not turn on, check the following:

• No power from the power cord: Plug the power cord firmly into the AC power jack on the projector and into a working power outlet. If the outlet has a switch, make sure it is switched on.

• Attempting to turn on during cooling: If you tried to turn the projector on again immediately after shutting it down, it might be in its cooling cycle. Wait until the cooling down process has completed before trying again.

If there is no picture projected, try these steps:

• Video source not on: Turn the video source (e.g., laptop, Blu-ray player) on and check that the signal cable is connected correctly at both ends.

• Incorrect connection: Check the physical connection between the projector and the input device.

• Incorrect input signal: Press the SOURCE key on the remote control and select the correct input signal.

For a blurred image:

• The projection lens may not be correctly focused. Adjust the focus using the remote control.

• The projector and the screen may not be aligned properly. Adjust the projection angle, direction, and height of the projector as necessary.

For an abnormal image:

• Ensure the video source cable is connected properly and that the video source is turned on.

• Ensure that the air intake and exhaust vents on the projector are not blocked.

If the Auto Screen Fit function is not working correctly, consider the following scenarios and remedies:

• Cause: The adjustment markers are outside of or on the border of the screen.

Remedy: Adjust the distance between the projector and the screen.

• Cause: The screen ratio is incorrect.

Remedy: Adjust the projection angle to ensure the projector aims directly at the screen. You can also use the Corner Fit function to fill the corners manually.

• Cause: The adjustment markers are within the screen, but the screen ratio is still incorrect.

Remedy: Adjust the projection angle to ensure the projector aims directly at the screen.

If the remote control is not working, try the following solutions:

• Batteries are out of power: Replace both of the batteries with new ones.

• Obstacle between remote and projector: Remove any obstacle that might be blocking the signal between the remote and the projector’s IR sensor.

• Too far from the projector: Stand within 8 meters (26 feet) of the projector.
