To set up your BEKO CEP 5302 B for the first time, please follow these steps:

1. Remove any protective films, stickers, and any other packaging material from the appliance.

2. Choose a safe and stable surface with an easily reachable power supply and allow the minimum distance from the sides of the machine.

3. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold pure water at least up to the MIN marking and at most up to the MAX marking. Do not add hot water.

4. Insert the tank onto the machine and plug the power cord into a wall socket with the suitable power voltage.

5. The power on/off button on the control panel will light up. Press that button to turn on the machine.

6. Put a cup right under the brewing head and press the cleaning button. The machine will sound one beep and start cleaning. Once completed, the machine will be ready to use.

Follow these steps to brew espresso with your BEKO CEP 5302 B:

1. Place the single or double espresso basket into the filter holder (portafilter).

2. Fill the basket with freshly ground coffee powder using the measuring spoon (approx. 7-14g) and use the flat end of the spoon to flatten the excess powder.

3. With the tamping end of the spoon, apply around 15 kg of pressure to push down the powder evenly and firmly.

4. Install the portafilter under the coffee outlet. Align it with the unlock symbol, slide it into the groove, and slowly rotate it to the right to the lock symbol.

5. Place a coffee cup right under the coffee outlet.

6. Press the single or double button. A beep will sound, the selected coffee button will start blinking, and the beverage preparation will begin.

7. After brewing is completed, the machine will sound one beep and enter idle mode. Remove the portafilter by turning it clockwise. Clean and dry the portafilter after each use.

For the best results, wait 5 seconds after brewing before taking out the filter. Also, to ensure your espresso stays at optimum temperature, it is recommended that you preheat your cups.

To make beverages that require milk such as cappuccino or latte, use the milk frother on your BEKO CEP 5302 B by following these steps:

1. Press the milk frother icon and wait for the milk frother to be ready. While the milk frother is pre-heating, the indicator lights will flash. Once ready, the steam button will be constantly lit.

2. Place a milk-filled cup or pitcher under the milk frother. The frother can be rotated to the right for easier handling.

3. Turn the knob to the “on” position and froth until the desired temperature and foam is obtained. To stop, turn the knob back to its initial position.

4. Pour the hot frothy milk onto your espresso.

Important notes:

• Be aware that the cup/pitcher and milk frother can get hot during frothing. Only hold the black protector after using the steam function.

• Do not fill the cup/pitcher entirely, as the milk will expand.

• Do not pull the cup/pitcher away without first stopping the frothing process.

• The maximum duration for a single frothing session is 90 seconds.

• After use, clean the nozzle of milk residue by wiping it with a wet cloth.

The BEKO CEP 5302 B can dispense hot water by turning the steam/hot water knob to the “on” position when the machine is in the idle stage. This function can be used to:

• Heat up a cup before coffee preparation. First fill the cup with hot water, then pour the water away and use the cup for preparing coffee.

• Make an Americano by adding hot water over an espresso.

If steam has been recently used, it is suggested to wait for the machine to cool down before using the hot water function.

For bigger cups, the drip tray on the BEKO CEP 5302 B can be removed and the machine base can be used as a stand.

If the drip tray is removed for bigger cups, it should be placed back into the machine right after the beverage preparation is completed. If the drip tray is not placed back, water from the internal system release might come to the base and would need to be manually cleaned with a dry cloth.

To set custom amounts for single and double espresso on your BEKO CEP 5302 B, follow these steps:

1. Select the function you want to reprogram (single or double espresso). Press the appropriate button and keep it held down. You will hear one beep. The programmable amounts are a minimum of 30ml and maximum of 50ml for a single, and a minimum of 60ml and maximum of 100ml for a double.

2. Only let go of the button once the desired amount of coffee has passed through. You will hear two beeps. This new amount is now saved for that function.

The adjusted beverage settings will be saved to the device memory for future use until reset or changed again.

To reset beverage volumes on your BEKO CEP 5302 B:

• To reset a single beverage to default/factory setting: Press and hold down any beverage button and the power button together for more than 3 seconds to reset the selected beverage amount.

• To reset all beverages to default/factory setting: Press and hold down the single and double espresso buttons together for more than 3 seconds to reset all beverage amounts.

Cleaning the Milk Frother:
Use the hot water function to remove any milk residue. The milk frother cover can be detached and cleaned under water. Clean inside the milk frother with a wet cloth after each use to avoid milk residue and ensure full frothing performance.

Cleaning/Rinsing Function:
To clean the brewing head, place a container under it and press the cleaning button. Cleaning will be completed within 16 seconds.

General Cleaning:

• If you do not use the machine for more than 5 consecutive days, rinse and drain the water tank.

• The drip tray and its grid can be cleaned manually under clean water.

• Do not put the portafilter into the dishwasher.

When the descale icon lights up orange, it is time to descale your BEKO CEP 5302 B. Follow this two-cycle process:

First Cycle (Descaling):

1. Place a container that can hold 1.5L under the brewing head.

2. Pour water into the water tank up to the MAX level and mix with a scale remover or citric acid.

3. Press and hold the descale button for more than 3 seconds. You will hear two beep sounds, indicating the first cycle of descaling has begun.

4. This first cycle will take around 15 minutes. Once completed, the descale icon will turn white.

Second Cycle (Rinsing):

1. Empty and replace the container under the brewing head.

2. Clean and fill the water tank up to the MAX level with clean water.

3. Press and hold the descale button for more than 3 seconds. You will hear two beep sounds, indicating the second cycle has begun.

4. This second cycle will take around 6 minutes. Once complete, the machine will go back to the idle stage and will be ready to use.

To reset the descale warning status manually, press and hold the power and descale buttons together for more than 3 seconds. However, resetting the warning status without descaling is not suggested for maintaining the best condition of the appliance.

The control panel on your BEKO CEP 5302 B will indicate errors:

• If the steam control knob is in the wrong position during machine turn on, or if the maximum frothing duration is reached, the red error LED will blink with the steam icon. This means the steam control knob should be rotated towards the closed position.

• If there is an NTC error, the red error indicator (General error) will be lit, and there will be no response if any button is pressed. You should call customer service for support.

If coffee is leaking from the side of the portafilter, check the following:

• Portafilter is not properly inserted: Turn the handle of the portafilter further to the right.

• Edge of sieve is not free of ground coffee: Turn off the machine, remove the portafilter holder, and clean the edges of the sieve.

• Screen inside brew head is dirty: Clean the brew head using a wet cloth and run the cleaning function without placing the portafilter.

If your espresso is brewing very slowly or only as drops, consider the following:

• Coffee grounds are too fine or packed down too firmly: Do not tamp the coffee grounds so firmly. Use a coarser grind of coffee.

• Machine blocked by calcium deposits: Descale the appliance.

If the espresso brews too quickly, it may be due to one of these reasons:

• Ground coffee is too coarse: Use a finer grind.

• Not enough coffee in the sieve: Use more ground coffee.

If your espresso lacks crema, check these possible causes:

• Coffee old or too dry: Use fresh coffee.

• Coffee not pushed down firmly enough: Tamp coffee grounds more firmly. Use a finer grind.

• Coffee too coarse: Use a conical burr grinder to obtain a finer and more consistent grind.

• Coffee blend not suited to espresso coffee: Change the brand of espresso.

If you are having trouble getting enough froth, try the following solutions:

• Milk not fresh: Use fresh milk.

• Milk not suitable: Check that the milk is suitable for frothing.

• Milk was too warm from the start: Use milk straight from the refrigerator (34°F).

• Not enough milk to froth: Use more cold milk.

If the milk frother is not producing steam, the milk inlet hole may be blocked. First, try cleaning the milk frother. If it is clear of dried milk deposits but no steam comes out, then use the descaling function. If the appliance is still blocked, call Customer Service.
