How do I calculate the projector distance (PD)?

To calculate the distance between the projector frontside and the screen (PD) for a given screen width (SW), use the following formulas:

Metric formulas (PD and SW in meters)
Barco Projector SLM Graphics (G) series Barco Projector SLM Reality (R) series
PDmin=1.62xSW-0.09 PDmin=1.59xSW-0.09
PDmax=2.03xSW-0.13 PDmax=2.00xSW-0.13

Inch formulas (PD and SW in inches)
Barco Projector SLM Graphics (G) series Barco Projector SLM Reality (R) series
PDmin=1.62xSW-3.54 PDmin=1.59xSW-3.54
PDmax=2.03xSW-5.12 PDmax=2.00xSW-5.12

Where:
  • SW = Screen Width (Image Width)
  • PD = Projector Distance (distance between screen and projector frontside)
  • PDmin = Minimum Projector Distance
  • PDmax = Maximum Projector Distance

How should I clean the lens?

To minimize the possibility of damaging the optical coating or scratching the exposed lens surface:
  1. FIRST, try to remove any material from the lens by blowing it off with clean, dry deionized air.
  2. If further cleaning is needed, always wipe lenses with a CLEAN Toraysee™ cloth (provided with the lens kit, Order number: R379058).
  3. Always wipe lenses in a single direction.
Important: DO NOT use any liquid to clean the lenses.

What precautions should I take when cleaning the lens and the cleaning cloth?

  • Always use a CLEAN Toraysee™ cloth.
  • Wipe in a single direction. Do not wipe back and forth, as this tends to grind dirt into the coating.
  • Do not leave the cleaning cloth in an open room or lab coat pocket, as this can contaminate the cloth.
  • If smears occur when cleaning, replace the cloth. Smears indicate a dirty cloth.
  • Do not use fabric softener when washing the cleaning cloth or softener sheets when drying the cloth.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners on the cloth, as doing so will contaminate the cloth.
  • DO NOT use any liquid to clean the lenses themselves. Only use clean, dry deionized air and the recommended cloth.
