The front panel of the ASUS M700SA features the following components:

1. 5.25-inch optical disk drive bay (optional): Houses an optical disk drive.

2. Optical disk drive eject button: Press this to eject the optical disk drive tray.

3. Power button: Press this to turn on your computer.

The LEDs on the LAN (RJ-45) port of your ASUS M700SA indicate the connection status and speed. Here are the indications:

Follow these steps to set up your ASUS M700SA:

1. Connect an external monitor: Connect a monitor to a display output port (VGA, HDMI™, or DisplayPort) on the rear panel of your computer. If your computer has a separate graphics card, connect the monitor to a port on the graphics card. Plug the monitor into a power source.

2. Connect a USB keyboard and mouse: Connect your USB keyboard and mouse to the USB ports on the rear panel.

3. Connect the power cord: Connect one end of the power cord to the power connector on the rear panel of your computer and the other end to a grounded electrical outlet.

To turn on your ASUS M700SA:

1. Turn your monitor ON.

2. Press the power button on the front panel of your computer.

3. Wait until the operating system loads automatically.

When you connect an external audio device, you need to enable the audio device output for clear audio quality.

1. Connect an external audio device such as an earphone or speaker to the rear Line Out port (lime). The Audio Manager screen will automatically pop up.

2. In the pop-up window, tick Front Speaker Out, then click OK.

3. If the pop-up appears again, tick Line In, then click OK. The audio output will now be from the external audio device.

To set up multiple monitors with your ASUS M700SA:

1. Turn off your computer.

2. Connect two monitors to the display output ports on your computer and connect the power cords for the monitors.

3. Turn on your computer.

4. From the Start menu, click Settings > System > Display.

5. Configure the settings for your displays. You can use the additional monitor as a duplicate of your main display or as an extension to enlarge your Windows desktop.

Note: For some graphics cards, only the monitor set as the primary display will show an image during POST (Power-On Self-Test). The dual display function works only within Windows.

You can connect a High Definition TV (HDTV) to the HDMI™ port on your ASUS M700SA. You will need an HDMI™ cable, which is purchased separately. For the best display performance, ensure your HDMI™ cable is less than 15 meters long.

To maintain proper posture and avoid physical strain while using your ASUS M700SA:

• Position your chair so your elbows are at or slightly above the keyboard.

• Adjust your chair height so your knees are slightly higher than your hips. Use a footrest if necessary.

• Adjust the back of your chair to firmly support the base of your spine at a slightly backward angle.

• Sit upright with your knees, elbows, and hips at an approximate 90° angle.

• Place the monitor directly in front of you, with the top of the screen at eye level so you look slightly downward.

• Keep the mouse close to the keyboard and use a wrist rest if needed.

• Use your Desktop PC in a well-lit area, away from sources of glare.

• Take regular mini-breaks.

To use the built-in memory card reader on your ASUS M700SA:

1. Insert the memory card into the correct card slot. A memory card is keyed to fit in only one direction; do not force it.

2. Select a program from the AutoPlay window to access your files. If AutoPlay is not enabled, open File Explorer, and double-click the memory card icon to access its data.

3. When finished, right-click the memory card drive icon in File Explorer, click Eject, and then remove the card.

Important: To prevent data loss, never remove cards while data is being read, copied, or deleted. Use the “Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media” option in the Windows notification area before removing the card.

To insert an optical disc:

1. While the system is on, press the eject button on the drive bay cover to open the tray.

2. Place the disc on the optical drive with the label side facing outward.

3. Push the tray gently to close it.

4. Select a program from the AutoPlay window to access your files.

To remove an optical disc:

1. While the system is on, do one of the following to eject the tray:

• Press the eject button on the drive bay cover.

• From the Start menu, click File Explorer, right-click the CD/DVD drive icon, and click Eject.

2. Remove the disc from the disc tray.

You can manage the USB ports from the BIOS Setup:

1. Restart your computer and press <Delete> during startup to enter the BIOS Setup.

2. From the EZ Mode screen, press <F7> to enter Advanced Mode.

3. Navigate to Advanced > Security > I/O Interface Security > USB Interface Security > USB Port Control.

4. Select the USB port you want to configure and press <Enter>.

5. Choose to enable or disable the selected port.

6. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset to save your configuration.

To set a new password for your HDD:

1. Enter the BIOS Setup by pressing <Delete> at startup.

2. Press <F7> to enter Advanced Mode, then go to Security > HDD Security Configuration: [name of HDD].

3. Select Set Master Password and press <Enter>.

4. In the Create New Password box, type a password and press <Enter>.

5. Confirm the password when prompted.

6. Select Set User Password and press <Enter>. Follow steps 4 and 5 to set the user password.

7. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset.

To change an existing password for your HDD:

1. Follow steps 1 and 2 from above to open the HDD Password screen.

2. Select Set Master Password and press <Enter>.

3. In the Enter Current Password box, type the current password and press <Enter>.

4. In the Create New Password box, type the new password and press <Enter>.

5. Confirm the new password when prompted.

6. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset.

You can connect to the internet using a DSL/cable modem or a Local Area Network (LAN).

Connecting via a DSL/cable modem:

1. Set up your DSL/cable modem according to its documentation.

2. Connect one end of an RJ-45 cable to the LAN port on the rear panel of your computer and the other end to your DSL/cable modem.

3. Turn on the DSL/cable modem and your computer.

4. Configure the necessary Internet connection settings in your operating system.

Connecting via a Local Area Network (LAN):

1. Connect one end of an RJ-45 cable to the LAN port on the rear panel of your computer and the other end to your LAN connection (e.g., a wall port or router).

2. Turn on your computer.

3. Configure the necessary Internet connection settings.

To install the Wi-Fi antenna, screw the antenna connectors onto the Wi-Fi ports on the rear of your ASUS M700SA. For best performance:

• Ensure the ASUS 2×2 dual-band Wi-Fi antenna is securely installed to the Wi-Fi ports on the ASUS network card.

• Ensure the antenna is at least 20 cm away from all persons.

• Place the antenna on the top of your desktop PC for the best wireless performance.

1. Open Network and Sharing Center. You can do this by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting it, or by navigating through Start Menu > Settings > Network & Internet > Ethernet > Network and Sharing Center.

2. Click Change Adapter settings.

3. Right-click on your LAN connection and select Properties.

4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.

5. Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically, then click OK.

6. If you are using a PPPoE connection that requires a user name and password, return to the Network and Sharing Center and click Set up a new connection or network.

7. Select Connect to the Internet and click Next.

8. Select Broadband (PPPoE).

9. Follow the onscreen instructions to enter your information and complete the setup.

1. Follow steps 1-4 from the dynamic IP configuration guide to open the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window.

2. Select Use the following IP address.

3. Enter the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway provided by your internet service provider.

4. If required, select Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the Preferred and Alternate DNS server addresses.

5. When finished, click OK.

If your computer won’t power on, try the following:

• Check if your computer is properly connected to the power outlet.

• Check if the wall outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.

• Check if the Power Supply Unit switch on the back of the PC is switched on.

If your computer becomes unresponsive, do the following to close the programs that are not responding:

1. Simultaneously press <Alt> + <Ctrl> + <Delete> on the keyboard, then click Task Manager.

2. Select the program that is not responding, then click End Task.

If the keyboard is also not responding, press and hold the Power button on your chassis until the computer shuts down. Then press the Power button again to turn it on.

If you are having trouble connecting to a wireless network (on selected models with a WLAN card):

• Ensure that you enter the correct network security key (password) for the wireless network you want to connect to.

• Connect the external antennas (optional) to the antenna connectors on the ASUS WLAN Card and place the antennas on top of your computer chassis for the best wireless performance.

Check if the Number Lock LED is on. When the Number Lock LED is on, the keys on the number keypad are used to input numbers only. Press the Number Lock key to turn the LED off if you want to use the arrow keys on the number keypad.

If you are getting no display on your monitor, check the following:

• Check if the monitor is powered on.

• Ensure that your monitor is properly connected to the video output port on your computer.

• If your computer has a discrete graphics card, ensure that you connect your monitor to a video output port on the discrete graphics card, not the motherboard’s port.

• Check if any of the pins on the monitor’s video connector are bent. If they are, replace the monitor video cable.

• Check if your monitor is plugged into a power source properly.

• Try connecting your computer to another monitor to see if the issue is with the monitor itself.

If only one of your multiple monitors is displaying an image, try these solutions:

• Ensure that both monitors are powered on.

• During POST (the initial startup screen), only the monitor connected to the primary port (often VGA) may have a display. The dual display function works fully only within Windows.

• If a discrete graphics card is installed, ensure that you connect the monitors to the output ports on the graphics card.

• Check if the multiple displays settings are configured correctly in Windows.

If your USB storage device is not detected:

• The first time you connect a USB storage device, Windows automatically installs a driver for it. Wait a moment and then check “My Computer” or “This PC” to see if the device is detected.

• Connect your USB storage device to another computer to test if the USB device itself is broken or malfunctioning.

You can use the Windows 10 “Refresh your PC without affecting your files” recovery option. To use this, click Settings > Update & security > Recovery from the Start menu, select Refresh your PC without affecting your files, and click Get started.

Distortion is often caused by a resolution mismatch between your computer and your HDTV. Adjust the screen resolution to fit your HDTV. To change the screen resolution, go to the Start menu and click Settings > System > Display.

If you have no sound from your speakers, please check the following:

• Ensure your speakers are connected to the Line out port (lime) on the front or rear panel.

• Check if your speakers are connected to a power source and turned on.

• Adjust your speakers’ volume control.

• Ensure your computer’s system sounds are not muted. If the volume icon in the Windows notification area shows as muted, click it to enable the sound. If it is not muted, click the icon and drag the slider to adjust the volume.

• Connect your speakers to another computer to test if the speakers are working properly.

If the DVD drive cannot read a disc:

• Check if the disc is placed with the label side facing up.

• Check if the disc is centered in the tray, especially for discs with non-standard sizes or shapes.

• Check if the disc is scratched or damaged.

If the DVD drive eject button is not responding:

1. From the Start menu, click File Explorer.

2. Right-click on the DVD RW Drive icon, then click Eject from the menu.

When you start your computer for the first time, a series of screens will guide you through configuring the basic settings of your Windows 10 operating system.

1. Press the power button on your Desktop PC. Wait for a few minutes until the setup screen appears.

2. From the setup screen, pick your region and language.

3. Carefully read the License Terms, then tap I Accept.

4. Follow the onscreen instructions to configure basic items such as Personalize, Get online, Settings, and Your account.

5. Wait until Windows 10 finishes installing the apps and system settings. After the installation, the Windows 10 desktop will appear.

To pin an app to the Start screen or taskbar:

1. From the Start menu, click All apps, then find the app you want to pin.

2. Right-click the app and select Pin to Start or Pin to taskbar.

You can also drag and drop an app from the All apps list directly to the Start screen or taskbar to pin it.

The Snap feature helps you organize multiple apps on one screen. You can activate it using your mouse or keyboard.

Using your mouse:

a) Launch an app, then click and drag its title bar to a corner of the screen to snap it in place.

b) Snap another app to your preferred location on the screen.

Using your keyboard:

a) Launch an app, then press the Windows key + an arrow key to select the direction where you want to snap the app.

b) Snap another app using the same key combination.

Here are some keyboard shortcuts to help you navigate Windows 10:

You can restore your PC to its original factory settings by using the “Remove everything and reinstall Windows” option. Be aware that this process will delete all your personal data, so it is crucial to back up your data beforehand. The process may take a while to complete.

1. From the Start menu, click Settings > Update & security > Recovery.

2. Scroll down to the Remove everything and reinstall Windows option and click Get started.

3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the reinstallation and reset process.
