Follow these steps to operate the controller for your AQQA AQ171:

1. Plug in the adapter and press the “ON/OFF” button (which is also the “Speed” button on the left side of the controller). The fan will start, and the 1st gear indicator light will turn on. Note that the Speed setting button and the ON/OFF function share the same button.

2. Press the “Time” button on the right side of the controller to select the desired time period. You can choose from five options: 0.5H, 1H, 2H, 4H, or 12H. The corresponding indicator light will illuminate when the setting is complete.

3. Press the “Speed” button on the left side of the controller to select the desired wind speed. There are 5 gear options for air volume. The corresponding indicator light will turn on when the selection is complete.

Follow these instructions to assemble your AQQA AQ171 cooling fan:

1. Fix the fan on the aquarium wall.

2. Plug the governor (controller) end into the fan side wiring position.

3. Note: If you purchased a three-head version, you must connect the power splitter with the fan first. Use the female connectors of the fan cable to connect the three male connectors of the splitter in turn. The other end of the splitter is then connected to the governor.

4. Power on the power adapter by plugging it into an electrical outlet.

Please observe the following precautions when using the AQQA AQ171:

• Please unplug the power and contact the seller if the cooling fan is not working properly. Opening the unit will void the warranty.

• Please mind that the operating temperature range for the cooling fan is between 40°F~95°F (4°C~35°C).

To avoid possible electric shock, please observe the following basic safety precautions:

1. Read and follow the user manual strictly.

2. If the appliance falls into the water, DO NOT touch it. First unplug it, then retrieve it. If electrical components of the appliance get wet, unplug it immediately.

3. Do not operate the cooling fan if it has a damaged cord or plug, is malfunctioning, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. The power cord cannot be replaced. If the cord is damaged, the cooling fan should be discarded.

4. To avoid the plug getting wet, position the aquarium to one side of a wall-mounted outlet. Arrange a “drip loop” for the cord, which is the part of the cord below the outlet level that prevents water from traveling along the cord to the outlet. If the plug or outlet gets wet, DO NOT unplug the cord. First, disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the fan.

5. Close supervision is necessary when the cooling fan is used near children.

6. To avoid injury, do not contact moving or hot parts.

7. Always unplug the fan when not in use, before maintenance, or before placing hands in the water. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect; never yank the cord.

8. Do not use the fan for other than its intended use. Using attachments not recommended by the manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.

9. Do not install or store the fan where it will be exposed to extreme weather or temperatures below freezing.

10. Ensure the fan is securely installed before operating it.

11. The cooling fan is intended FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
