Please adhere to the following safety instructions when using your AMERICAN COMFORT ACW500C:

IMPORTANT!

• The unit is designed for indoor operation only.

• The unit is not designed to cool server rooms, sun rooms, or a room generating constant high levels of heat.

• Rating: This unit must be connected to a 115V/60Hz grounded outlet.

• The installation must be in accordance with regulations of the country where the unit is used.

• Never connect the unit to an electrical outlet using an extension cord. If an outlet is not available, one should be installed by a licensed electrician.

• The air conditioner is safe. However, as with any electrical appliance, use it with care.

• Keep out of the reach of children.

• Do not clean the unit by spraying it or immersing it in water.

• Do not insert any object into the openings of the unit.

• Disconnect the unit from the outlet before cleaning the unit or any of its components.

WARNING!

• Never operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug.

• Do not lead the cord over sharp edges.

• A damaged supply cord should be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

• Any service other than regular cleaning or filter replacement should be performed by an authorized service representative. Failure to do so could result in a loss of warranty.

Do not use your AMERICAN COMFORT ACW500C air conditioner in the following situations:

• If the power cable wires are frayed or cut.

• When small children may be left unattended.

• On a slope or uneven surface.

• Close to a heat source.

• If the product is not made for DIY repair.

• If there is a risk of liquid falling on the unit.

• When the inside of the unit is exposed to weather outdoors.

• In a permanent very humid environment.

• Do not connect the unit to an extension cord.

• Where the power cable may be damaged.

• Where it may be damaged by chemicals.

• Where there is a risk of interference by foreign objects.

The first time that you use the AMERICAN COMFORT ACW500C, please ensure that it has been standing in an upright position for at least 2 hours before it is switched on. The unit is not to be used in temperatures under 41°F or over 95°F.

The following accessories are included with your AMERICAN COMFORT ACW500C:

Follow these steps to assemble the AutoDrain components:

1. Attach Window Slide Bar Connector to Exhaust Hose by twisting as shown.

2. Put the spiral water pipe into the hot air flexible hose.

3. Connect the female half of the quick connector at the end of the spiral water pipe to the male part in the hot air outlet pipe.

4. Turn the connector 45° clockwise until it is locked in place.

5. Stretch the end of the hose slightly. Assemble the hot air hose on the unit by screwing in clockwise.

6. Clip on the water atomizer at the end of the spiral pipe to the holder.

7. Unfold the flexible hose with the attached hose adapter connector, and snap it into the Window Slide Bar.

For Disassembly: To unlock the quick connector, push the tab and turn the connector counter-clockwise.

This unit can be easily moved from one room to another. In doing so, keep this in mind:

• The air conditioner must stand upright on an even surface.

• Do not position near a bath, sink, or other permanent, wet or damp area.

• Keep the unit at least 18 inches from walls, curtains, draperies, or heat sources to ensure adequate air circulation.

Note: The window kit is only designed to be installed with sliding windows or doors, not casement style windows.

Step 1: Measure your window. If the provided window kit is larger than your required dimensions, it can be cut. If it is too short, an additional kit may be needed.

Step 2: Screw the slide bar connector into the exhaust hose first. Then, spin the exhaust hose into the air outlet located at the rear of the unit (counter-clockwise).

Step 3: Insert the slide bar connector into the adjustable slide bar. Extend the Slide Bar length to match the width of the window (vertically or horizontally), and then tighten the screw to hold the length of the slide bar. Make sure the adjustable slide bar fits snugly in your window and stays in place. Proceed to close and lock your window on the Slide Bar to secure it in place.

IMPORTANT: The flexible exhaust hose can be extended from 10.25″ to 58.5″. We recommend that you keep the hose as short as possible to minimize possible loss back in the room. This length has been designed especially according to the specifications of the air conditioner. Do not use an extension or a different hose as that may lead to malfunctioning. The exhaust air must flow freely; any blockage can lead to overheating.

1. POWER: Press this key to turn the machine on/off. After the machine turns on, the default value is cooling mode with low fan speed.

2. MODE: After the machine turns on, for the cooling only model, press this key to select cooling or fan mode. For the cooling & heating model, press this key to select cooling, fan, and heating mode.

3. FAN: After the machine turns on, press this key to select fan speed (high, medium, and low).

4. DOWN: In cooling or heating mode, press this key to lower the temperature setting from 60°F to 90°F. In timer mode, press this key to decrease the on/off time.

5. UP: In cooling or heating mode, press this key to raise the temperature setting from 60°F to 90°F. In timer mode, press this key to increase the on/off time.

6. SLEEP: In cooling or heating mode, press this key to turn the sleeping function on/off.

7. TIMER: In power-on or standby mode, press this key to set up on/off time from 0 to 24 hours.

8. TiO2/Ion: After the machine turns on, for the TiO2/Ion model, press this key to select the TiO2/Ion function.

1. Temperature display: Shows the current temperature setting.

2. Cooling mode indicator: Lit when in cooling mode.

3. Dehumidifying mode indicator: Lit when in dehumidifying mode.

4. Fan mode indicator: Lit when in fan mode.

5. Sleeping mode indicator: Lit when sleep mode is active.

6. Timer mode indicator: Lit when the timer is active.

7. Receiver: Receives signals from the remote control.

8. Water full indicator: Lit when the internal water container is full.

9. Low fan speed: Indicates low fan speed is selected.

10. Medium fan speed: Indicates medium fan speed is selected.

11. High fan speed: Indicates high fan speed is selected.

12. Heating mode indicator: (only for heating model) Lit when in heating mode.

13. Ion / TiO2 indicator: (only for Ion / TiO2 model) Lit when this function is active.

• Up: Increases temperature or timer setting.

• Mode: Cycles through available operation modes (Cool, Fan, Heat).

• Down: Decreases temperature or timer setting.

• Timer: Activates the timer function.

• Power: Turns the unit on or off.

• Fan: Cycles through fan speeds (Low, Medium, High).

• Sleeping: Activates or deactivates sleep mode.

• TiO2 & Ion: (only for TiO2/Ion model) Activates or deactivates this function.

When the machine turns on, the default is cooling mode with 72°F and low fan speed.

• Press “MODE” to select cooling mode; the cooling mode indicator will turn on.

• Press “UP” or “DOWN” to adjust the temperature (from 60°F to 90°F).

• Press “FAN” to select the fan speed (low, medium, high).

• Press “MODE” to select fan mode; the fan mode indicator will turn on.

• Press “FAN” to select the fan speed (low, medium, high).

• Temperature and sleeping function cannot be set up in Fan Mode.

• To set a power-on time: While the unit is in standby mode, press “TIMER”. Then press “UP” and “DOWN” to adjust the timer from 1 to 24 hours. The timer indicator will turn on.

• To set a power-off time: While the unit is in power-on mode, press “TIMER”. Then press “UP” and “DOWN” to adjust the timer from 1 to 24 hours. The timer indicator will turn on.

Press the “SLEEP” key to enter sleeping mode. The default fan speed is low.

• In cooling mode: One hour after activation, the set temperature will increase by 1°. After a second hour, it will increase by another 1° and then remain at that temperature.

• In heating mode: One hour after activation, the set temperature will decrease by 1°. After a second hour, it will increase by another 1° and then remain at that temperature.

Sleeping mode is not available in dehumidifying and fan modes. If the water tank becomes full, the machine will enter standby, and sleeping mode will be cancelled.

Three minutes after power on or restart, the compressor will start to run. This is a built-in delay to protect the compressor.

The AMERICAN COMFORT ACW500C features Innovative AutoDrain Technology and does not require emptying of the water container, except prior to season end storage. If you need to drain it, follow these steps:

1. Switch off the unit and remove the plug from the outlet.

2. Position a flat container or dish on the floor under the drain hole. Do not allow the water to drip continuously into the container as it might easily overflow.

3. Remove the drain knob.

4. Remove the rubber plug; the water will flow into the container. When it is nearly full, replace the plug to stop the water flow and empty the container. Repeat this process until all water has been removed.

5. Replace the rubber plug into the drain hole firmly. The WATER FULL LED should not flash any longer.

6. Replace the drain knob.

Always unplug the unit from the power supply (wall outlet) before beginning the cleaning.

Housing:

Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the body clean. Never use strong chemicals, oil-based products, detergents, chemically treated cloths or other cleaning solutions. These could possibly damage the housing.

Filter:

1. Clean the filters every two weeks. If filters are blocked by dust, machine efficiency will be reduced.

2. Use a vacuum cleaner or tap the filter lightly to remove loose dust and dirt from the filters and then rinse them thoroughly under running water (not warmer than 104°F).

3. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth before inserting them back into the unit.

Notice! Never operate the air conditioner without the filters.

1. Remove the side filter frame from the unit.

2. Remove the back filter frame from the unit.

3. Separate the filter fixer from the back filter frame.

4. Remove the active carbon filter from its plastic bag.

5. Insert the active carbon filter into the filter frame.

6. Fix the filter by re-assembling the fixer onto the filter frame.

7. Re-fit the back filter frame inside the unit.

8. Re-fit the side filter frame inside the unit.

If your AMERICAN COMFORT ACW500C does not function, check the following:

• Cause: No power supply. Make sure the green light on the plug is lit.

• Solution: Connect to a functioning outlet and switch on. See instructions for the Plug and Reset button application.

• Cause: The power light is flashing, or the water full LED is lit.

• Solution: Empty the water container.

If your AMERICAN COMFORT ACW500C seems to be underperforming, check the following potential causes and solutions:

• Cause: The unit is in direct sunlight.

• Solution: Close curtains/shades.

• Cause: Windows or doors are open, there are many people in the room, or there is a heat source in the room.

• Solution: Close doors and windows. The unit is not made to cool server rooms, sun rooms, or any rooms generating constant heat.

• Cause: The filter is dirty.

• Solution: Clean or replace the filter.

• Cause: Air inlet or air outlet is blocked.

• Solution: Power off the unit and unplug from the outlet. Remove the blockage.

• Cause: Room temperature is lower than the selected value.

• Solution: Change temperature selection. Set at the lowest possible setting: 60°F.

If the unit is noisy, check if it stands unevenly. Place it on an even, solid surface to reduce vibrations.

If the compressor does not work, the overheat protection may be activated. Wait 30 minutes until the temperature has decreased, then turn on the unit again.

If the remote control is not working, try the following:

• Cause: Distance is too great, or the remote signal is not detected by the control panel.

• Solution: Make sure the remote control is correctly aimed at the control panel.

• Cause: The batteries are drained.

• Solution: Check and replace the batteries in the remote.

The LCDI (Leakage Current Detection and Interruption) plug is a safety feature. If you plug in the Air Conditioner and there is no green light on the plug, press the reset button on the LCDI plug. The green light should be lit, indicating that the air conditioner is getting power from the electrical outlet.

Make sure the unit is plugged directly into a dedicated electrical source/outlet. Do not use any extension cords. See electrical specifications and make sure the electrical source can accommodate the unit’s energy consumption.

If the plug continues to trip (which is a USA national safety standard feature) and the green light goes off, the cord may be damaged, preventing you from resetting the unit. For your safety, contact a licensed electrician.
