Excessive volume levels that obscure sounds such as emergency vehicle sirens or road warning signals can be dangerous and may result in an accident. Listening at loud volume levels in a car may also cause hearing damage.

Product Cleaning

Use a soft dry cloth for periodic cleaning. For more severe stains, dampen the cloth with water only. Anything else may dissolve the paint or damage the plastic.

Temperature

Ensure the temperature inside the vehicle is between +60°C (+140°F) and -10°C (+14°F) before turning your unit on.

Moisture Condensation

If you notice the CD playback sound wavering, it may be due to condensation. Remove the disc and wait about an hour for the moisture to evaporate.

Damaged Disc

Do not attempt to play cracked, warped, or damaged discs, as it could severely damage the playback mechanism.

Maintenance

If you have problems, do not attempt to repair the unit yourself. Return it to your Alpine dealer for servicing.

Inserting Discs

Your player accepts only one disc at a time. Do not attempt to load more than one. Ensure the label side is facing up when you insert the disc. An “ERROR” message will be displayed if inserted incorrectly.

Handling Compact Discs (CD/CD-R/CD-RW)

• Do not touch the surface.

• Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight.

• Do not affix stickers or labels.

• Clean the disc when it is dusty.

• Ensure there are no bumps around the disc from manufacturing.

• Do not use commercially available disc accessories like transparent sheets or stabilizers.

• Do not leave the disc in the car or the unit for a long time to avoid heat and humidity damage.

• For CD-R/CD-RW, ensure the recording session was closed (finalized).

On Handling USB Memory

• Read the USB Memory Owner’s Manual thoroughly.

• Do not touch the terminals by hand or with metal.

• Do not subject the USB Memory to excessive shock, bending, dropping, or soaking in water.

• Avoid usage or storage in locations with direct sunlight, high temperatures, high humidity, or corrosive substances.

• Fix the USB Memory in a location where it will not hinder driver operation.

• Use only certified USB Memory. Performance may vary depending on its type or state.

• It is recommended to back up important data on a personal computer.

• Do not remove the USB device while playback is in progress. Change the SOURCE to something other than USB before removing the device to prevent possible damage.

The ALPINE CDE-113BT can play the following disc and file types:

Use only compact discs with the CD logo marks. You can play CD-Rs (CD-Recordables) and CD-RWs (CD-ReWritables) which have been recorded on audio devices or contain MP3/WMA/AAC formatted audio files.

Detaching the Front Panel

1. Turn off the unit’s power.

2. Press the release button at the lower left side until the front panel pops out.

3. Grasp the left side of the front panel and pull it out.

Attaching the Front Panel

1. Insert the right side of the front panel into the main unit. Align the groove on the front panel with the projections on the main unit.

2. Push the left side of the front panel until it locks firmly into the main unit.

Be sure to press the RESET switch when using the unit for the first time, after changing the car battery, or if the unit is not functioning correctly. This will reset the internal micro-computer.

1. Turn off the unit power.

2. Remove the detachable front panel.

3. Press the RESET switch with a ballpoint pen or similar pointed object. The RESET switch is located behind the front panel.

Turning Power On and Off

• To turn the unit ON, press the SOURCE/ button.

• To turn the unit OFF, press and hold the SOURCE/ button for at least 2 seconds.

Source Selection

Press the SOURCE/ button to cycle through the available sources. The sequence is:

TUNER → DISC → USB AUDIO → iPod/AUX+ → BT AUDIO → AUX → TUNER

Listening to the Radio

1. Press SOURCE/ to select TUNER mode.

2. Press BAND/TA repeatedly to select the desired radio band (FM1, FM2, FM3, MW, LW).

3. Press TUNE/A.ME to select the tuning mode:

• DX SEEK (Distance mode): Automatically tunes in both strong and weak stations.

• SEEK (Local mode): Automatically tunes in only strong stations.

• OFF (Manual mode): Tune the frequency in steps manually.

4. Press the ◀◀ or ▶▶ buttons to tune to the desired station. Holding down either button will change the frequency continuously.

Presetting Stations Manually

While receiving the station you want to store, press and hold one of the preset buttons (1 through 6) for at least 2 seconds. The display will show the band, preset number, and frequency have been memorized.

Presetting Stations Automatically

1. Select the desired radio band.

2. Press and hold TUNE/A.ME for at least 2 seconds. The tuner will automatically seek and store 6 strong stations in the selected band on preset buttons 1 to 6.

Tuning to Preset Stations

Select the band, then press the preset button (1 through 6) for your desired station.

Setting RDS Reception Mode

1. Press FUNC./SETUP so the ◀F▶ indicator lights up.

2. Press 1◀/AF to activate the RDS mode.

3. Use ◀◀ or ▶▶ to tune to the desired RDS station.

4. Press 1◀/AF again to deactivate the RDS mode.

Receiving Traffic Information (TA)

1. Press and hold BAND/TA for at least 2 seconds so the “TA” indicator lights up.

2. Use ◀◀ or ▶▶ to select your desired traffic information station. The “TP” indicator will light up.

3. When a traffic information broadcast starts, the unit automatically mutes the current source to play the announcement. To deactivate, press and hold BAND/TA for at least 2 seconds again.

Displaying Radio Text

While receiving an FM station, press VIEW to select the Radio Text display. The display will cycle through Programme Service Name (PS) and RADIO TEXT.

1. Insert a disc with the label side facing up. The disc will be pulled into the unit automatically.

2. For MP3/WMA/AAC discs, press 1◀/AF or 2▶ to select the desired folder.

3. Press ◀◀ or ▶▶ to select the desired track (file). Press and hold to fast backward/forward.

4. To pause playback, press ▶/II/ENT. Press it again to resume playback.

5. To eject the disc, press the eject button.

Repeat Play: Press button 4 to cycle through repeat track, repeat folder (MP3/WMA/AAC only), and repeat off.

M.I.X. (Random Play): Press button 5 to cycle through random in folder (MP3/WMA/AAC only), random all, and M.I.X. off.

Folder Name Search

1. During playback, press Q/ESC to activate search mode.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select “Folder Name Search” mode, and then press ▶/II/ENT.

3. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired folder.

4. Press and hold ▶/II/ENT for at least 2 seconds to play back the first file in the selected folder.

File Name Search

1. During playback, press Q/ESC to activate search mode.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select “File Name Search” mode, and then press ▶/II/ENT.

3. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired file.

4. Press ▶/II/ENT to play back the selected file.

To cancel search mode, press and hold Q/ESC for at least 2 seconds.

Main Audio Adjustments

1. Press the Rotary encoder (AUDIO) repeatedly to choose the desired mode: SUBWOOFER → BASS LEVEL → TRE LEVEL → BALANCE → FADER → DEFEAT → VOLUME.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to adjust the selected setting.

Advanced Bass/Treble/HPF Settings

1. Press /SOUND to select BASS, TREBLE, or HPF (High Pass Filter).

2. For BASS or TREBLE, press BAND/TA to select the center frequency and SOURCE/ to select the bandwidth (Q factor) for Bass. Turn the Rotary encoder to adjust the level.

3. For HPF, turn the Rotary encoder to select the frequency (OFF, 60 Hz, 80 Hz, 100 Hz).

Loudness

Press and hold the Rotary encoder (LOUD) for at least 2 seconds to activate or deactivate the loudness mode.

1. Press and hold FUNC./SETUP for at least 2 seconds to activate the SETUP mode.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired SETUP menu item, and then press ▶/II/ENT.

3. Turn the Rotary encoder to change the setting.

4. After setting, press and hold FUNC./SETUP for at least 2 seconds to return to normal mode. The menu will also time out and return to normal mode after 60 seconds of inactivity.

Available settings include: BT IN, PLAY MODE, INT MUTE, AUX+ SETUP, DEMO, SUBWOOFER, SUBW SYS, ILLUMINATI, SCROLLTYPE, TEXT SCR, LANGUAGE, and more.

Before using the hands-free phone function, you must pair your device.

1. First, ensure “BT IN” is set to BT ADAPTER in the main SETUP menu.

2. Set a BLUETOOTH connection from your BLUETOOTH compatible device. Search for devices from your phone.

3. The PIN code “0000” will be displayed on the ALPINE CDE-113BT.

4. Input the PIN code “0000” into your BLUETOOTH device.

5. If the connection is successful, “CONNECTED” will be displayed, and the unit will return to normal mode.

For the unit to be discoverable by your phone, you may need to go into the BLUETOOTH SETUP menu on the stereo, select “VISIBLE M”, and set it to “VISI M ON”.

Answering a Call

When a call comes in, you will hear a ring tone and see “PHONE” on the display. Press the call button to answer the call.

Hanging up a Call

To end a call, press and hold the call button for at least 2 seconds.

Making a Call

1. Press the call button. The outgoing method list is displayed.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select how you want to call: DIALED (history), RECEIVED (history), MISSED (history), or PHONE BOOK.

3. Press ▶/II/ENT to enter the selected list.

4. Turn the Rotary encoder to select a name or number from the list.

5. Press ▶/II/ENT to make the call.

Voice Dial Operation

If your connected phone supports voice dialing:

1. Press and hold /VOICE DIAL for at least 2 seconds. “SPEAK” is displayed.

2. Say the telephone number or name you want to call into the microphone.

Access the BLUETOOTH SETUP menu by pressing and holding FUNC./SETUP for at least 2 seconds, turning the Rotary encoder to select “BT IN”, and pressing ▶/II/ENT.

• PAIRED DEV: Select which of the 5 paired devices to connect to.

• VISIBLE M: Set to ON to make the unit discoverable for pairing.

• AUTO ANS: Set to ON to have the unit automatically answer incoming calls after about 5 seconds.

• CLEAR DEV: Delete a paired device from the unit’s memory.

• MIC INPUT: Adjust the microphone input volume level (0-7).

• SPEAKER SL: Select which speakers to output call audio from (ALL, Front-Left, Front-Right, or Front-L/R).

• Check if the vehicle’s ignition is on.

• Verify that the power lead (Red) and battery lead (Yellow) are connected properly.

• Check the fuse of the unit. Replace it with a fuse of the proper value if it is blown.

• If you suspect an internal micro-computer malfunction, press the RESET switch located behind the front panel.

• Unable to receive stations: Make sure the antenna is properly connected. Replace the antenna or cable if necessary.

• Unable to tune in seek mode: You may be in a weak signal area. Make sure the tuner is in the DX mode, not Local mode. Also, check that your antenna is properly grounded at its mounting location.

• Broadcast is noisy: Make sure the antenna is fully extended and not broken. Ensure it is properly grounded at its mounting location.

CD Player Indications

• NO DISC: No CD is inserted, or the disc cannot be read. Try re-inserting the disc. If it still does not eject, consult your dealer.

• ERROR: Indicates a mechanism error. Press the eject button. If the error persists, press the RESET switch.

• PROTECT: A copy-protected WMA file was played. You can only play non-copy-protected files.

• UNSUPORTED: A sampling rate/bit rate not supported by the unit is used.

USB Memory Indications

• ERROR: Abnormal current is running to the USB device, or the device is malfunctioning. Try another USB device.

• UNIT ERROR: A USB device that is not supported by the unit is connected.

• NO DEVICE: A USB memory device is not connected or not properly seated.

• NO FILE: No song (file) is stored in the USB memory.

iPod Mode Indications

• NO IPOD: The iPhone/iPod is not connected correctly.

• NO SONG: There are no songs on the connected iPhone/iPod.

• ERROR-01: Communication error. Turn ignition off and on again, and try reconnecting.

• ERROR-02: The iPhone/iPod Software Version is not compatible. Update the device’s software.

BLUETOOTH mode

• NO UNIT: The BLUETOOTH device is not connected. Connect the BLUETOOTH device.

All Modes

• DC ERROR: Malfunction occurred, likely due to a speaker cable shorting on the car chassis. Check wiring.
