To turn the power on, press any button except for the eject and phone up buttons.

To turn the power off, press and hold the SOURCE button for at least 2 seconds.

Press the SOURCE button repeatedly to cycle through the available sources. The sequence is as follows:

TUNER → DISC → USB AUDIO/iPod → BT AUDIO → AUXILIARY → TUNER

Please note:

• USB AUDIO/iPod is only available when an iPod/iPhone is connected.

• BT AUDIO is only displayed when BT IN is set to ON.

• AUXILIARY is only displayed when AUX SETUP is set to ON.

To adjust the volume, turn the rotary knob.

To change the text information displayed on the screen, press the -VIEW button. The display will change each time the button is pressed.

Recalling the TUNER Mode: Press the SOURCE button until TUNER mode is selected.

Changing the Band: Press the BAND button to cycle through the bands in this order: FM1 → FM2 → FM3 → MW → LW → FM1.

Presetting Stations Automatically: Press and hold the TUNE/-A.ME button for at least 2 seconds. The tuner will automatically seek and store 6 strong stations in the selected band.

Tuning to Preset Stations: Press one of the preset buttons (1-6) to select the corresponding stored station.

Recalling DISC mode: Press the SOURCE button to select DISC mode.

Pause and Playback: Press the ►/II button to pause or resume playback.

Selecting a song: Press the K or ►►I button to skip to the beginning of the current song or the next song. Press and hold to fast backward or fast forward.

Selecting a folder (MP3/WMA/AAC): Press the 1 or 2 buttons to select the desired folder.

Ejecting the disc: Press the eject button.

M.I.X. (Random Play):

• Folder M.I.X.: Only files in the current folder are played back in random sequence. (MP3/WMA/AAC only)

• ALL M.I.X.: All files on the disc are played back in random sequence.

• (off): Cancels random play.

Repeat Play:

• Track/File Repeat: The current track/file is repeatedly played back.

• Folder Repeat: Only files in the current folder are repeatedly played back. (MP3/WMA/AAC only)

• (off): Cancels repeat play.

When a USB memory device is connected, MP3/WMA/AAC files stored on it can be played back.

Recalling the USB AUDIO mode: Press the SOURCE button to select the USB AUDIO mode.

Pause and Playback: Press the ►/II button to pause or resume playback.

Selecting a song: Press the K or ►►I button to skip to the beginning of the current song or the next song. Press and hold to fast backward or fast forward.

M.I.X. (Random Play):

• Folder M.I.X.: All songs in the current folder are played back in random sequence.

• ALL M.I.X.: All songs in the USB Memory are played back in random sequence.

• (off): Cancels random play.

Repeat Play:

• File Repeat: The current file is repeatedly played back.

• Folder Repeat: All files in the current folder are repeatedly played back.

• (off): Cancels repeat play.

BLUETOOTH is a wireless technology allowing communication between a mobile device or personal computer over short distances. This enables a hands-free call or data transmission between BLUETOOTH compatible devices on your ALPINE CDE-174BT.

Step 1. Use your BLUETOOTH compatible device to search for and select “Alpine CD Receiver”.

Step 2. Follow the instructions for your type of device:

• For devices with Secure Simple Pairing (SSP): The head unit will display “PAIR”. Turn the Rotary encoder to select “YES”, and then press Q/ENTER.

• For all other devices: When prompted by the head unit, input the PIN code “0000” on your BLUETOOTH compatible device.

Step 3. When pairing is successful, “CONNECTED” will be displayed on the head unit.

Step 1. Press the VOICE CTRL. button to activate the outgoing method list selection mode.

Step 2. Turn the rotary encoder to select a desired outgoing mode from DIALLED/RECEIVED/MISSED/PHONE BOOK.

Step 3. Press Q/ENTER to confirm your selection.

Step 4. Turn the rotary encoder to select the desired name or telephone number.

Step 5. Press Q/ENTER to make the call. The selected telephone number will be called.

Answering a call: Press the VOICE CTRL. button to answer an incoming call. The call starts. Note: If “AUTO ANS” is set to ON, the call is answered automatically after about 5 seconds.

Ending a call: Press the VOICE CTRL. button to end the call. You can also hang up by pressing and holding the phone down button for at least 2 seconds.

Step 1. Press and hold the VOICE CTRL. button for at least 2 seconds to activate the Voice Recognition mode.

Step 2. After the Voice Recognition mode is activated and “SPEAK” is displayed, you can make a phone call, play a song, etc., via the unit by inputting voice control commands.

Please be aware of the following:

• This operation is only available when a Voice recognition compatible mobile phone is connected. If not compatible, “NO SUPPORT” is displayed for 2 seconds.

• The function’s performance depends on the recognition range of the mobile phone and the mounting location of the microphone.

• Voice recognition operation depends on the function of the mobile phone. Refer to your phone’s manual for details.

• If a called person’s name is not found, “NO CALL” is displayed for 2 seconds.

• Please obey all local traffic laws while using this function.

You can connect an iPod/iPhone to the unit using the Interface cable for iPod/iPhone (included with your iPod/iPhone).

Recalling the iPod Mode: Press the SOURCE button to select the iPod mode.

Pause and Playback: Press the ►/II button to pause or resume playback.

Selecting a song: Press the K or ►►I button to skip to the beginning of the current song or the next song. Press and hold to fast backward or fast forward through the current song.

Random Play Shuffle (M.I.X.):

• (Shuffle Albums): Album shuffle plays back all songs in order, then randomly selects the next album.

• (Shuffle Songs): Song shuffle randomly plays back songs within a selected category (playlist, album, etc.).

• (off): Cancels shuffle play.

Shuffle All:

Step 1. Press Q/ENTER to activate the search selection mode.

Step 2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select SHUFFLEALL, and then press Q/ENTER.

This function plays all songs on the iPod/iPhone randomly. To cancel, press the 5 button.

Repeat Play:

• The current song is repeatedly played back.

• (off): Cancels repeat play.

Step 1. Press Q/ENTER to activate the search selection mode.

Step 2. Turn the rotary encoder to select the desired search mode (e.g., PLAYLIST, ARTIST, ALBUM, etc.). The list of available search modes depends on the setting of iPod LIST.

Step 3. Press Q/ENTER to confirm.

Step 4. Turn the rotary encoder to select the desired title.

Step 5. Press Q/ENTER to confirm your selection. The unit will either play the selected item or proceed to the next hierarchy level for further searching.

Hierarchy for Searching:

Note: When you press and hold Q/ENTER for at least 2 seconds within a hierarchy (except Song, Audiobook, and Genius mix list), all songs of the selected hierarchy are played back. When a search is made during M.I.X. play, the M.I.X. play mode will be cancelled.

• Do not operate any function that takes your attention away from safely driving your vehicle. Any function requiring prolonged attention should only be performed after coming to a complete stop.

• Keep the volume at a level where you can still hear outside noises while driving. Excessive volume can obscure emergency sirens or road warnings and may cause hearing damage.

• Do not disassemble or alter the unit. This may result in an accident, fire, or electric shock.

• Use only in cars with a 12 VOLT negative ground. Failure to do so may result in fire.

• Keep small objects such as batteries out of the reach of children. If swallowed, consult a physician immediately.

• Use the correct ampere rating when replacing fuses. Failure to do so may result in fire or electric shock.

• Do not block vents or radiator panels. Doing so may cause heat to build up inside and may result in fire.
