* (Star) key: From the idle screen, press to input *. A long press switches between ‘+/P/W’. In edit mode, a short press accesses the symbol table.

# (Hash) key: From the idle screen, a short press inputs ‘#’. A long press switches between Silent/Vibration/General modes. In edit mode, a short press changes the input method.

Vibrate alert key: Activates Vibrate mode.

The icons on the status bar of your ALCATEL 2053D provide information about the phone’s status. The icons and illustrations are for informational purposes only.

General Icons (2053X Model):

• Battery charge level: Shows how much battery power is remaining.

• Level of network reception: Indicates the strength of the mobile network signal.

• Silence mode: Your phone will not ring, beep, or vibrate.

• Aeroplane mode: All wireless connections are disabled.

• Headset connected: A headset is plugged into the phone.

• Alarm clock programmed: An alarm is set.

• Missed calls: You have one or more missed calls.

• Meeting mode: Your phone vibrates, but does not ring or beep.

• Roaming: You are connected to a network other than your home network.

• Unread SMS: You have new, unread text messages.

• Message full: Your message inbox is full.

• Call divert: Call forwarding is active.

• Music activated: Music is currently playing.

Additional Icons (2053D Model):

• GPRS connection status: Indicates the status of the GPRS data connection.

• Call divert: Call forwarding is active.

• Roaming: You are connected to a network other than your home network.

Follow these steps to set up your ALCATEL 2053D:

1. Remove the back cover: Gently lift the back cover off the phone.

2. Install the battery: Insert the battery, aligning the contacts.

3. Insert the SIM card: Your phone supports a mini SIM card. Place the SIM card with the chip facing downwards and slide it into its housing. To remove it, press and slide it out. Do not attempt to insert other SIM types like micro or nano cards, as this may cause damage.

4. Insert an SD card (optional): Insert the SD card into its designated slot.

5. Replace the back cover: Press the back cover back into place until it clicks.

To charge your ALCATEL 2053D:

1. Connect the battery charger to your phone and plug it into a socket. Be careful not to force the plug into the socket.

2. Ensure the battery is correctly inserted before connecting the charger.

3. If the battery is completely empty, charging may take about 20 minutes to start.

4. For the first use, it is advised to charge the battery to its maximum, which takes approximately 3 hours.

5. The charge is complete when the charging animation stops.

To reduce power consumption, disconnect your charger from the plug when the battery is fully charged and reduce the backlight time.

To power on your phone: Press and hold the End call key until the phone powers on.

To power off your phone: From the idle screen, press and hold the End call key.

Making a call:

Dial the desired number, then press the Send call key to place the call. If you make a mistake, you can delete the incorrect digits by pressing the Right soft key. To hang up the call, press the End call key.

Making an emergency call:

If your phone is covered by a network, dial the emergency number and press the Send call key. This works even without a SIM card and without typing the PIN code or unlocking the keypad.

Receiving a call:

When you receive an incoming call, press the Send call key to answer. To hang up, press the End call key.

Accessing Voicemail:

To access your voicemail, press and hold the 1 key.

The Call Filter feature allows you to set up a blacklist to block unwanted callers and a whitelist to only allow calls from specific numbers.

To add contacts to the Blacklist:

1. From Blacklist > Options > New: Enter a name and number, or press OK to select a contact from your Contacts list. Then, select Save.

2. From Blacklist > Options > Import contacts: Select a contact from the Contacts list, then press OK and Save.

3. From the Call logs application: Select a contact, go to Options > Add to blacklist.

4. From the Message application: Select a message in your Inbox, go to Options > Add to blacklist.

To add contacts to the Whitelist:

The process is similar to adding to the blacklist, but you select “Whitelist” and “Add to whitelist” in the respective menus.

Call Filter Settings:

• Enable blacklist: Automatically blocks all callers listed on the blacklist.

• Enable whitelist: Only allows calls from callers listed on the whitelist. If there are no numbers in the whitelist, the phone will not allow any callers.

• Disable call filter: Allows all callers by disabling both the blacklist and whitelist.

The ALCATEL 2053D includes several useful tools:

• Sound Recorder: Records audio files in WAV and AMR format. Recordings are automatically saved in My music.

• Convert: Supports weight and length conversion.

• Alarm: A built-in alarm clock with a snooze feature. You can set up to five alarms.

• Calendar: A monthly-view calendar to check dates.

• Calculator: Use the navigation keys to select +, -, ×, ÷, and =. Press the Right soft key to delete figures.

• Bluetooth: Exchange data like videos, images, and audio with other Bluetooth-supported devices.

• Torch: Turn the flashlight on or off.

• Voice alarm: Create a voice file and set it as an alarm.

• World clock: Displays the time in your location and allows you to add other cities.

• Fake call: This function helps you politely escape from social situations by simulating an incoming call.

• STK (SIM Tool Kit): This is a service from your SIM card provider. The available items depend on your SIM card and network.

From the main menu, select “Message” to create a text message. You can type a message and send it to a recipient from your SIM card directory. You can also insert a pre-defined message from “Templates”. While writing, select “Options” to access all messaging options.

For the dual SIM model, you can type a message and choose to send it from either the SIM1 or SIM2 directory.

Note that an SMS message exceeding a certain number of characters (which depends on your language) will be charged as several SMS. Using special characters or accents may also increase the size of the SMS.

Your ALCATEL 2053D offers several multimedia functions:

• Gallery: Access images stored in “Photos” on the phone or SD card. You can multi-mark images, set them as wallpaper, use them for the power on/off display, assign them to a contact as an incoming call image, or send them via Bluetooth.

• Audio: Play audio files. Press the center key to play/pause. Short press the left or right navigation key to go to the previous or next track. Press the up and down navigation keys to adjust the volume.

• Video: Play video files. Press the center key to play/pause. Short press the up or down navigation key to adjust the volume. Press the left or right navigation key to go to the previous or next video.

• DV: Record video files. Press the center key to start or pause recording.

• FM radio: Use the phone as a traditional radio. You must plug in a headset, which acts as the antenna. In the FM radio interface, press the center key to play/pause, and press the up and down navigation keys to tune the volume. You can listen to the radio while using other applications.

Consulting your contacts:

You can access your contacts by pressing the Right soft key from the idle screen, or by pressing the Menu key and selecting the Contacts icon.

Adding a contact:

In the Contacts menu, select “New contact”, enter the contact’s information, and then save it to the “Phone” or “SIM” as you like.

From the main menu, select the Settings icon, then choose Security, and select Restore factory settings. This will recover the phone’s settings to its default values, and all end-user data will be erased. You will need to enter the default password, 1234, to confirm the restore and reboot.

The input mode on your ALCATEL 2053D allows you to type text by choosing a letter or a sequence of characters associated with a key. Press the key several times until the desired letter is highlighted. When you release the key, the highlighted character is inserted into the text.

If your ALCATEL 2053D cannot be switched on, please perform the following checks:

• Check the battery contacts. Remove and reinstall your battery, then try turning your phone on.

• Check the battery power level. Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes.

• Check your subscription status with your operator (credit, SIM card validity, etc.).

• Make sure you have not barred outgoing calls.

• Make sure that your phone is not in flight mode.

If you are not receiving incoming calls, check the following:

• Make sure your phone is switched on and connected to a network.

• Check your subscription status with your operator.

• Make sure you have not forwarded incoming calls.

• Make sure that you have not barred certain calls.

• Make sure that your phone is not in flight mode.

If the caller’s information is not displayed during an incoming call, it could be for one of these reasons:

• Check that you have subscribed to this service with your operator.

• Your caller has concealed their name or number.

To improve call sound quality, try the following:

• You can adjust the volume during a call by pressing the volume key.

• Check the network strength.

• Make sure that the receiver, connector, or speaker on your phone is clean.

If you cannot access your voicemail, please check the following:

• Make sure your operator’s voicemail number is correctly entered in “Messages\Voice mail server”.

• Try again later if the network is busy.

If your SIM card is locked and asking for a PIN, you will need to contact your network operator to obtain the PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code.

If you are having trouble downloading files, check these points:

• Make sure there is sufficient phone memory for your download.

• Select the microSD card as the location to store downloaded files.

• Check your subscription status with your operator.

To maximize the battery life of your ALCATEL 2053D, follow these tips:

• Make sure you follow the complete charge time (minimum 3 hours).

• After a partial charge, the battery level indicator may not be exact. Wait for at least 20 minutes after removing the charger to get an accurate indication.
