What safety precautions should be taken before installation?
To prevent electrical shock and/or equipment damage, disconnect electric power to the system at the main fuse or circuit breaker box until installation is complete.
What are the specifications for the D.C. Power Contactor?
The specifications include:
- Insulated Coil Terminals
- Preferred Mounting Position: Coil Terminals Up
Specifications Table:
| Part Number | Voltage (VDC Max.) Coil | Voltage (VDC max.) Contact | Duty Cycle |
|---|---|---|---|
| 124-105111 | 12 | 12 | Continuous / Continu / Continuo |
| 124-104111 | 24 | 24 | Continuous / Continu / Continuo |
| 124-117111 | 36 | 36 | Continuous / Continu / Continuo |
| 124-314111 | 24 | 24 | Continuous / Continu / Continuo |
| 124-317111 | 36 | 36 | Continuous / Continu / Continuo |
How should contactors be reconnected when replacing a unit with only one coil terminal?
When used to replace contactors having only one coil terminal, reconnect either terminal as indicated by the dotted line, depending on the original circuit:
For a grounded coil configuration, ground one coil terminal as shown by the dotted line.
For a coil common to line (or battery) configuration, connect one coil terminal to the line (or battery) N. O. power terminal as shown by the dotted line.
How should Double Throw contactors be used for replacement?
Use Double Throw contactors for replacing Normally Closed contactors, connecting to Normally closed terminals only.
What are important application notes for contactors?
Contactors applied in battery charging circuits should be protected from higher than rated voltage during charging. The service life may be affected by this condition and the contactor may not operate the circuit as intended.
Circuits should be designed to provide safe operation should the contactor fail in either the open or closed position.
A backup wrench must be used to hold the bottom nut stationary during installation.
