How should the WEIL-MCLAIN PFG be installed?
The packaged boiler unit(s) must be installed according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions. All work is to be done in a neat and workmanlike manner.
What are the inlet natural gas pressure requirements for the WEIL-MCLAIN PFG?
The inlet natural gas pressure to the boiler gas valve(s) should be a minimum of 5” w.c. and a maximum of 13” w.c.
If inlet natural gas pressure exceeds 13” w.c., a 100% lock-up type gas pressure regulator of adequate size must be installed in the gas supply piping and adjusted to prevent pressure in excess of 13” w.c.
What are the hydrostatic pressure testing requirements for the WEIL-MCLAIN PFG?
Individual sections (and section assembly) are to be hydrostatically pressure tested at the factory in accordance with ASME requirements.
The maximum allowable working pressure is 50 PSIG water cast as part of the section with the ASME symbol.
How are the boiler sections constructed on the WEIL-MCLAIN PFG?
The boiler sections are assembled with draw rods.
They are made with sealing grooves for high temperature cope seal and silicone sealant to assure a permanent gas-tight seal.
They are provided with sufficient tappings to install required controls.
How does the WEIL-MCLAIN PFG handle air elimination and water flow?
The boiler is provided with cast-in air elimination to separate air from circulating water.
It is provided with an expansion tank tapping to divert separated air to the expansion tank.
It is constructed to provide balanced water flow through the entire section assembly using single supply and return connections. No external headers are necessary.
What are the foundation requirements for the WEIL-MCLAIN PFG?
The installer is to construct needed support and level concrete boiler foundation(s) where the boiler room floor is uneven or will not support the weight of the boiler(s).
What is the requirement for installing the WEIL-MCLAIN PFG in a residential garage?
Boiler(s) installed in a residential garage shall be installed so the burners are at least 18” above the floor.
What water boiler controls are furnished with the WEIL-MCLAIN PFG?
High limit temperature control (240º F maximum allowable boiler water temperature).
Combination pressure-temperature gauge. Gauge dial clearly marked and easy to read.
ASME certified pressure relief valve.
What are the specifications and piping instructions for the pressure relief valve on the WEIL-MCLAIN PFG?
The valve is an ASME certified pressure relief valve, set to relieve at 30 PSIG.
It is a side outlet discharge type.
The contractor is to pipe the outlet to a floor drain or near the floor, not to any area where freezing could occur.
