What is the intended use of this Vornado Personal Fan?
This product is intended to circulate the air in indoor living spaces only in the United States. This product is not intended for commercial or industrial use. The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage or injury due to unauthorized use or product modification. Failure to follow these directions will void the product warranty.
This product is not a toy.
What type of USB adapter is required for this fan, and what is important to note about the included adapter?
When using an AC / DC power source, only connect the product to an approved USB adapter rated 5VDC, 1000mA (minimum).
Note: The included adapter is ONLY certified for US 120V outlets.
Before plugging the AC adapter into an electrical outlet, be sure that all electrical information on the AC adapter rating label, including voltage information, is compatible with your outlet’s power supply.
What precautions should be taken when children or impaired persons are near the fan?
Supervision is required during the installation, operation, cleaning and maintenance of this product by children 12 years of age and younger and anyone with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance, its parts and packaging material.
Where should the fan be placed to ensure safe operation?
Place this product away from curtains, draperies, tablecloths and other fabrics, since they may be drawn into the product, damage the motor and/or cause a fire.
No part of this product (the appliance, power cord, plug, packaging, etc.) should be placed near furnaces, fireplaces, stoves or other high temperature heat sources.
Do not use this product in a window, on an uneven or unstable surface.
Place the appliance near an easily accessible outlet so the product can be unplugged quickly during an emergency.
What precautions should be taken regarding the fan and water or wet surfaces?
The appliance, power supply, power cord and plug cannot come into contact with water.
Do not use this product on wet surfaces.
Do not use this product in a bathtub or shower or position product where it may fall into a bathtub, laundry, swimming pool or other water container.
Do not use this product outdoors or expose it to weather or elements.
How should the power cord be managed to prevent hazards?
Do not run the cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Do not route cord under furniture or appliances.
Arrange the cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
The cord should not hang over edges of counters or be placed where it can be crimped or closed in doors.
Never use the cord as a handle or otherwise yank, strain or stretch the power cord.
Can I use this fan with a dimmer control switch?
To reduce likelihood of circuit overload, fire and electric shock, do not operate with a solid state speed device, such as a dimmer control switch.
What should I do if the fan, its power cord, or plug is damaged?
Do not operate the unit if it has been dropped or damaged.
Do not use this product if it has a damaged power cord or plug. To avoid risk of electrical shock, do not attempt to repair or replace parts. Only original replacement parts may be used.
If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Contact Vornado Consumer Service at 1-800-234-0604 (phone) or consumerservice@vornado.com (email) for further instructions about replacement and repair.
Discard fan or return to an authorized service facility for examination and/or repair if the cord or plug is damaged.
What are the guidelines for using the detachable power supply provided with the appliance?
Risk of fire. Your appliance is equipped with a detachable power supply. Use only the power cord and plug provided.
The detachable external power supply and cord have no user replaceable parts.
What should be checked before plugging the power cord into an electrical outlet?
Before plugging the power cord into an electrical outlet, be sure that all electrical information on the rating label, including voltage, is compatible with your outlet’s power supply.
What should I do if foreign objects enter the fan openings?
While the product is plugged in, do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any input or output opening as this may cause risk of electric shock or fire, or damage the product.
What should I do if the plug fits loosely in the wall outlet?
A loose fit between wall outlet (receptacle) and plug may cause overheating and distortion of the plug. Discontinue use of the product in this outlet. Contact a qualified electrician to replace loose or worn outlets.
What steps are necessary before moving, repositioning, servicing, cleaning, or leaving the fan unattended?
Before moving, repositioning, servicing, cleaning and when not in use, use the product controls to turn off the power and then unplug.
To disconnect from the outlet, grasp and pull only the plug.
Also, power off and unplug if the product will be left unattended for an extended period of time or during electrical storms.
How should the fan be cleaned?
Clean your product regularly. Prior to cleaning, turn off the power on your product and unplug.
Do not use gasoline, thinners, solvents, ammonias or other chemicals for cleaning.
1. Power off and unplug the unit prior to cleaning.
2. Dust or wipe the fan with a damp cloth.
3. Use the brush attachment on your household vacuum cleaner to vacuum any accumulated dust.
The fan has no user serviceable parts inside and cannot be opened for cleaning. Never clean the product in any manner other than instructed in this owner’s guide.
Can I open the appliance housing for service or repairs?
Do not open appliance housing. To avoid risk of shock, all service and/or repairs must be done by a Vornado Authorized Service Center.
What should I do if this product causes interference with radio or television reception?
If this product does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the product off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
Increase the separation between the product and the receiver.
Connect the product into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
Contact Vornado Consumer Service or dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
How should the packaging materials be disposed of?
To reduce waste and environmental harm, observe the following for package recycling:
The packaging protects the appliance from transport damage. The packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable. Dispose of all packaging materials in an environmentally responsible manner.
How can I connect the fan to a power source?
Connect to power in one of two ways:
1. Insert the USB plug of the DC cord into the USB connector of your computer.
OR
2. Insert the USB plug of the DC cord into a 5V DC, 1000mA power adapter and then plug the adapter into a power outlet.
How do I operate the fan (power on/off and change speeds)?
1. Tap the VORNADO logo to power the unit on and to cycle through speeds HIGH, LOW, and OFF.
2. While on any speed, touch and hold the VORNADO logo for 3 seconds to turn the product off.
How can I adjust the airflow direction?
Rotate the unit to the desired angle for vertical airflow using the base, or set the unit on its side with the silicone foot for horizontal airflow.
Note: Only position the product on its side with the silicone foot to ensure performance. Do not place the side of the fan with the VORNADO logo face down.
How can I achieve an elevated horizontal airflow using the Travel Case (Pebl Pak Only)?
For an elevated horizontal airflow experience, place the product on top of the Travel Case by aligning the silicone foot with the grooves on the Case.
How should the fan be stored when not in use for extended periods?
During the off-season or for extended periods of non-use, you may choose to store your fan. To ensure long life of the product, it is recommended to store your fan by following these instructions:
1. Power off and unplug unit.
2. Cover, or place back in retail carton if available. Or use Travel Case (Pebl Pak Only) to store fan and adapter. This prevents fan from accumulating dust over time.
3. Store fan in cool and dry location.
What should I do if the unit fails to power on?
Unit is not plugged in. Plug Power Cord into electrical outlet or USB connector.
Unit is damaged or in need of repair. Cease usage and unplug. Contact Consumer Service for assistance.
The outlet is worn or damaged. Try another outlet or contact a qualified electrician.
What should I do if the airflow is weak or slow?
Unit set to a low speed setting. Adjust to a higher speed setting.
Airflow is blocked. Remove obstruction.
Adjust direction of airflow towards the user.
What should I do if a GFCI outlet trips when using the fan?
Under certain conditions, it is possible for a reset GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet to trip when the user is changing speeds on a Vornado circulator. In this event, change to an outlet that is not connected to a GFCI device. It could also indicate a weak or defective GFCI outlet. Contact a qualified electrician to check the GFCI outlet.
